About Me
My name is Brandon Herrera. I'm the owner and operator of The AK Guy Inc, a 07 Firearm Manufacturer based out of Fayetteville, NC. I also co-own Stark Media Group, and designed the rifle known as the AK-50.
I've started to dedicate this UA-cam channel above all to have fun, but also as a way to document my entrepreneurial journey for the next few years as I try to grow my companies. Hopefully, people can learn from my example, successes, and failures.
Either way, I'm having a lot of fun with it so far, and I hope it's just as fun to follow along!

I just realized something.
The reason why the AK-50 is taking so long is because in true Soviet fashion it will be adopted in 2050 hence AK-50 just like how the AK-74 was adopted in 1974. His deadline is 30 years from now.
Alternatively we can also say he was due at 1950 and that he's 71 years late.

I've carried my 1911 for over thirty five years so I guess it's relevant to me. Never had misfeeds with quality ammo. 230 grain hollowpoints are guaranteed to turn a head into a canoe. Polish your feed ramp and do a few other little tweaks and it's just as reliable as any other sidearm on patrol. Proper maintenance is the key. Yeah, it's heavy as fuck but I prefer the weight. Besides in a pinch and out of ammo you can beat an opponent to death with it. Your mileage may vary.
First pistol I ever built and second firearm I ever owned was the 1911 about 18 or so years ago. Still love them. Still always will. Still will always be my first choice. Even my little bastardized Kimber 9 mm 2011!
You sir, are not only a true patriot but an absolute legend. He ain't wrong.
@@jordanhicks5131 To be "that guy," JMB died in 1926 and the HP design wasn't finalized until 1934. Colt held the 1911 patents, which didn't expire until 1928, so Browning had to design around those restrictions. After Browning's death and the patent expiration, FN made some big changes to the HP and re-incorporated a lot of 1911 elements.
I could spaff all over the fn 9mm all day, only cos I know it inside out I'm biased.
Happy endings till my tip gets caught in the forward release.
The BHP is a great gun but ultimately a mixed bag. It's action is better than 1911's as there is not a barrel link.
it's lockup is were the gun runs into trouble, since the transfer bar is slide mounted it eliminates any real trigger work being done to it.
BHP has generally pretty gritty triggers as well. They have a magazine disconnect a problem searching for a solution.
Some of the more classic HP's their sights suck. The safety is mushy and does not very affirmatively click into place like a 1911, on top of that its safety lever is very small. Reloading them fast can be a chore since its a big square magazine with a mag well without flaring in addition to the disconnect.
Honestly the 1911 has the aftermarket for a reason, and it's not just because "Muh 45" it's objectively a more ergonomic handgun,
and there is not a pistol that outdoes a 1911 like a 1911. But there is pistols do what BHP does better like the CZ-75.
@@bobjackson4287 But the Sig P220 exists and is better than a 1911 in pretty much every way.

Most European Nations during the World Wars issued handguns as status symbols for their officers sometimes in sub 9mm like 32Cal.
The US gave the M1911 in 45 to fighting men on the front.
Sgt York did receive the Medal of Honor for leading an attack on a German machine gun nest, gathered 35 machine guns, killing at least 25 enemy soldiers and capturing 132 prisoners with a 1911.

LOL I saw a bearded biker responding to a question about "firearms you have no respect for." He said, "If I'm killed by someone with a Hi-Power, please tell my family I was sodomized to death in a gay bathhouse instead."
@@MrJeffcoley1 Wow, I don't often hear that sort of distain for the Hi-Power. To each their own, I guess. I mean, I steer clear of anything made by Taurus because literally every Taurus I've ever shot has either misfired or had cycle failures. But, I know plenty of looney-tunes who love Taurus.
@@mydogbullwinkle LOL I have no idea why that guy was so down on the Hi-Power, but it was pretty funny.
Hey there Brandon. I currently own a Taurus PT1911 that I absolutely fell in love with. I've shot pistols for awhile and I never understood the fascination with the 1911 so I decided to go and take a chance and purchased mine brand new for just under $600.00 and put a few boxes of ammo thru it. I can tell you it shoots plenty straight. I've got the full sized 1911 with the 5inch barrel. The recoil isn't too bad with the longer barrel and I've even fired it one handed with no real difficulty. Of all the fire arms I currently own, if I ever had to get rid of my pistols then my 1911 would be the one that I would hold onto. It's a great pistol that didn't break the bank.
When he said "He made absolute perfection in a handgun" I was like "Well, at least he acknowledges that the 1911 is the best handgun ever". And then he said the Browning High Power and I screamed
Honestly don't see much of a problem with the High Power. Does well in its own way and had my time with both of them!

@@DieselRamcharger The US army doesn't use it as a standard issue pistol anymore and most of the rest of the world used the Hi Power. It still exists on the civilian market because it's cheap to manufacture compared to a bunch of other handguns, but it's still kind of obsolete.

@@caffeinatedinsanity2324 Nope. Its not obsolete. Thats the beauty of it. In 100 years. 200 years. When those modern pistols that were all outlawed after the 4th war have since fallen apart, succumbed to time. Since the series 80 1911 there have not been but a small handful of design changes to the modern pistol. aesthetics. cheaper materials, cheaper manufacturing sure. But the designs of the gun are all damn near identical. tipping barrel actions. Same reason rifle technology hit a big ole brick wall with the AR. There really isnt any place to go. Once you understand human kinematics ballistics and chemistry you understand internal combustion firearms are very limited. There is no great progress to be made.
I love my .45 simply because I know it works. I hated the M9 in the Army, utterly loathed the Beretta design, so I admit being biased against 9mm. Maybe someday I'll find a 9mm pistol I actually like, but until then, I'll stick with my trusty .45.

Stopping power isnt a myth, its just negligible between pistol calibers. When it comes to rifles it definitely matters.
Watch coyote hunting videos and watch how they react to .223 at 400 yards vs .308 or .243
@@putin632 Uhh, most pistols are decently high calibre. Usually .355/.357 or higher. I assume you meant higher powered cartridges. Because a .223 Remington/5.56x45 NATO is much smaller in diameter, or caliber, than a .45 ACP, but is much more powerful than it or a 9x19 NATO/9mm Luger/9mm Parabellum.
@@putin632 Nope, it's the opposite. Most combat pistols use calibers that are wider than most combat rifle calibers, but at much lower muzzle velocities. A rifle bullet's enhanced ability to kill comes from having high enough velocities for the hydrostatic shockwaves to cause permanent organ damage, whereas with slower pistol bullets, there is only organ damage in the direct path of the slug.

I bought my first airpistol a couple days ago (cus thats about the most powerful thing I can own without a licence here in the UK) and it was a 1911 (remington 1911 RAC tactical, I absolutely love it, feels nice in the hand and looks stunning, ngl wish we could own the real thing here in the UK (those who have pistols here have an obnoxious stick on the end of the handle
Hey Brandon ...
08:06 try a Peters Stahl RangeMaster 1911. Those are Made in Germany with German perfection, (lots’n lots of love), and they will give you ultimate performance. Plus they look really awesome. Okay, they cost like 3000$, but they‘re worth it. And ... yeah... they are still single stacked. That’s why I looked around in 🇨🇦 and found me a nice Para Ordnance 14.45. A cute little 6“-1911 in .45ACP with a forged 2-chamber compensator, no grip safety (optional), tons of Wilson Combat accessories, and with 14 bulky buddies in the mag, who will ALWAYS run faster than the home intruder you release them on.
... and as always:
Greetings from Good old 🇩🇪 ... home of the heavenly gun laws.
This is how it starts, first its a 1911, before long, Brandon will be over in the AR forums taking about his latest build.
Lol
As a great man once said: “9mm kills the body but .45 ACP kills the soul”
Gotta make sure they don't come back as a lich.
And 10mm evaporates the entire thing

Kimber does make a 10 round single stack. It only protrudes out the well about an extra inch. Definitely a must-have for anyone who owns a 1911.
Fuds: “yea but who needs more than 8 rounds anyway what’s gonna happen the deer gonna shoot back”

Your comment about the 9mm Browning Hi-Power was right on the money. Great episode BTW
Genuinely more excited by Brandon’s 1m sub video than Matt’s 10m sub video.
Mostly because Matt’s 10m sub video will be “How many ‘insert random object’ will it take to stop a .50 BMG?” My guess his random object for that one will be children lol

First of all, the feeding ramp is polished to a mirror sheen. It's not going to have any feeding problems. The slide's been replaced with a reinforced version, and it meshes perfectly with the frame. The frame itself has been iron-welded and scraped down multiple times for maximum precision. The front strap part of the frame has been checkered to make it dig into the hand. That prevents any slipping. The sight system's original too. It's a 3-dot type. It's got an enlarged front sight, giving it superior target sighting capability. The regular hammer's been replaced with a ring hammer. That enhances the cocking control and increases the hammer-down speed. They also reworked the grip safety to accommodate the ring hammer. It looks like they eliminated it altogether. This is a tool for pros. The thumb safety and slide stop are extended for precise handling. The base of the trigger guard is whittled down so you can use a high grip, and the trigger itself is a long type for easy finger access. The trigger pull is about 3.5 pounds. that's about a pound and a half lighter than normal. The magazine well has been widened to make it easier to put in a new magazine. The magazine catch button has been filed down low to make it harder to hit it by mistake. The mainspring housing has been changed to a flat type to increase grip, and it's even been fitted with stepping so that it won't slip from the recoil when firing. On top of that, they added cocking serrations to the top part of the slide. That lets you load and eject cartridges faster in an emergency. Whoever did this is a professional, no question. This thing could shoot a one-hole at 25 yards in a machine rest
Back in the day I was carrying a Beretta 9 m m and my sergeant was carrying a Colt 1911. I asked him why he carried that night 1911 versus the 9 m m. He replied I may only have 8 rounds but that's all I'm going to need. About 20 years ago I bought my first 1911 and fell in love with it

I love my FNX45, really wanting to get the .460 Rowland conversion for it, but as it stands, 15+1 in .45+p in what I feel is the grandchild of the two most prolific of Saint Browning's pistols, the 1911 and the HiPower.
