FF14 has got to have brought some new mental illness to light. There's no way this is healthy for any of us. (But I'm sure as shit going to keep watching, hyuck!)
@@RianaFelbladefinding a way to share grief by watching others overcome it themselves seems like a completely legitimate form of emotional support. Also it fun. 😈
You know at first at the 6 hour mark when you said you had to go to bed and i looked at the 3 hours left on the video i was concerned that chat talked you into somethint foolish. Im glad you took your time with it, it made the tears i drink up as an FF14 emotional vampire all the sweeter.
Other folks have said this, but this was the first patch that came out after the pandemic hit and it took almost twice as long as we had been accustomed to. There were so many reasons this story could've underwhelmed. That it didn't is almost miraculous.
I think the metaphor that Hythlodaeus was making gets lost in translation a bit. In Japanese, the word star is used for every single space object beyond the Earth, Sun, and Moon. Which is the reason Eorzea throughout the game is referred to, even in English, as a star. In Japanese, he was saying that the convocation members were comparable to the 13 Zodiac signs, which is why they’re etched onto their sigils. The 14th members sigil, had the Sun, and had the power to summon those constellations to their side…but often chose their friends instead. There’s also a second comparison being made, but won’t get into it because spoilers…but that part often confuses people due to its wording. Hope it’s helpful!
Playing into this, the name "planet" is derived from πλανήτης (planētēs), which means "Wanderer" in Greek, as some of the stars in the sky seemed to wander across the sky. (Considering Hythlodaeus and Hades's Greek names, there might be some connection) The symbol for the 13 Convocation members are constellations, the 13 of the Zodiac, fixed in the firmament. The symbol for the 14th Seat was ☉, the astrological symbol for Sol, a star that Traveled amongst all 13 of those constellations. I think the "Chronicle of the Traveler" being emblazoned with the symbol of Sol is very appropriate. One star around which all the other wandering stars orbit, a "Shepherd to the stars in the dark."
@5:07:00 Yet another poor unfortunate soul makes the _mistake_ of asking the WoL/WoD "What/Who are you?" ... the Unknowable Question, that ends up in asskicking, lol.
in the JP version from 5:55:13 point forward Crystal Exarch's name on the subtitle would be changed to G'raha Tia (even his jp voice would have this distinct young boi Raha tone) and it's an interesting detail that I wished they also put in the English subtitle🥺
Fun Fact the Warriors Elidbus summons in the seat of sacrifice are the party members or at least some of them from Final Fantasy 4. The Lala's that he summons use twincast and the only characters to ever use twincast was Palom and Porom, since we don't have children in the game they must of used them as their models for it, both were a white mage and a black mage. There is a Dark Knight that is clearly Cecil, if you look closely it's very similar to his actual dark knight gear. The Bard can Cast holy just like Rosa, and used a bow, and plays a white mage in 4, The Bard and the Dark Knight actually come out togethor which I believe was to symbolize the two being together. and when the Wyrm is summoned it looks like FF4's version of Bahamut that Rydia summons. but has the color of DArk Bahamut from 4. The Ninja is very clearly Edge because it uses Water and Fire. the Warrior there is likely Cid, he mainly used hammers, but could wield axes as well. Shadowbringers feels like a big nod to Cecils story but flipped.
The dialog is completely different for all four; also, all four unlocks a fifth that's also an option here, and furthermore along with the primals series from HW unlocks another quest string in EW.
5.3 was actually released during PEAK covid. So the studio was completely shut down and all employees had to quickly convert to at home work... this obviously put a huge delay with the production of 5.3 and sacrifices had to be made. One such was the VA of that scene, if I'm not mistaken.
If my memory is in tact, we’ve met lots of human kids in Gridania, multiple elezen kids throughout Ishgard, handful of little au’ras in Azim Steppe and underwater Ruby Sea at this point. Baby cats I think made first appearance here. And as for little lalas, we actually meet like 3 or 4 of them very early on in central and eastern Thanalan. Several near the Coffer & Coffin and several in the Golden bazaar. Tbh, compared my lala character to them and they were already my height so maybe age wise they are kids but appearance wise one can not tell if kids or adult lol
Never before have I seen someone fail so hard and consistently at Action Time Maneuvers lol Just pick two buttons to alternatively spam with both hands' index fingers, like G and H or something, then go taka-taka-taka-taka-taka-taka-taka-taka.
Advanced information: This action time maneuver is actually incredibly hard to fail. It artifically boosts you in intervals (when you see the bar suddenly bump up). This only really happens if your bar is at a low level. This means you can get by by clicking very slowly. Like click... click... click... click. A little fast than a second but not by much. I sometimes die to this because I am trying to see how slowly I can click and still get by lol
@@ExceedProduction I think it must be programmed in such a way that if you start fast and slow down you fail, probably not intentionally, because you definitly can fail it when mashing.
Forge Ahead!

there he is
I should have figured you would get here quickly. 😂

I cannot wait for Jesse to fin- and he's already here.
Why did I expect anything less? :)
5.3 is such a masterpiece of storytelling. It really shows that it was supposed to be an entire expansion not just a patch.

The star thing was actually true of English historically as well but was changed with the discovery that stars were a thing and the sun was one.

The best reaction ever to a certain someone coming back hahahaha!!
Seto remains undefeated. such a great patch

It really feels like every moment of ShB is making us cry or laugh, or laugh and cry.

There's a shadowbringers short story on the lodestone site that tells the story of ardbert and seto and seto's medallion.
I think my biggest gripe with Shadowbringers is that the cutscene between The Crystal Exarch and Lyna on the way back to the tower wasn't voice acted

By the way, for the active times, my trick is to put three fingers on the arrow keys and drum my fingers so I'm spamming three keys.
And on this day, a new G'raha fan girl was born. Welcome haha

"We fall" that is all lol

To be honest, everytime I get that trial I just put my keyboard on fire by firing ALL the buttons, just in case.
I just mash the numpad.

Emet just watching you fail the time event, rolling his eyes and debating if he should even save you
Watching that "Button Mashing" at WoL was painful... Jesus
Fellow emotion vampires we are eating good today.
i feel like all things possible to break immersion just keep happening to you
That and chat needs to be on emoji mode WAY more. Good lord, some people just can't help themselves, it seems.
