I watched this movie as a teenager and this movie taught me a lesson about harsh reality. No matter how much you are in love with someone never let your passionate ideas get the better of you otherwise it will either ruin your life or someone else'. Another lesson in this movie is even if such mistakes do happen then we must be like Mr. Bhattacharya to rectify them. Massive respect for Mr. Utpal Dutt's character and his acting skills, proud to say that we were born in the same city. I know what I said sounds very old fashioned and these ideas have no place in the modern society but it is what it is.
No you don't sound old fashioned, many Americans UA-camrs have shared their story. They shared their experience. Our body is valuable and we should value it.

A movie far ahead of its time and relevant even today. Fitting that the original was in Malayalam, where offbeat films are still the norm. The adaptation to its Hindi format was excellent and it was heralded as a movie "every girl should watch" when first released in 1975. It still cant get over the moral clarity of the message, the acting, storyline, music and script. Truly a landmark movie.
