I don't like it at all, this song is about getting drunk and making out with girls to make your boyfriend jealous, not a song to admit your feelings for your girlfriend to. This whole episode kinda sucked
Yeah, I feel like in the context of the story, having this be a Rachel Santana solidarity moment was a fun surprise and aided in their friendship development as the show progressed, although in the context of *recording* I feel like this was one of those moments where they just "had" to put Lea in to give her another damn long, despite it being completely great to just have Naya sing it herself. I feel like using this particular song was simultaneously trying to be a bicurious "women love women" moment for Rachel and the girls, AND a "proud coming out" moment for Santana and it just couldn't really work both ways this time.
This song wasn't about her coming out though it was about the girl's supporting her for the silly Finn lead "lady week". Constant Craving was more the song for her coming out arc. That said they could have pick a better song to show support.
@@melissahalliday4288 it make no sense for Brittany and Santana though. The song is about a straight girl and more importantly it was about the other girls supporting Santana.
I agree with you. This had to be a Santana's Solo or, at least, a Unholly Trinity's Performance (Santana, Quinn and Britanny: Santana being the lead vocal, Brittany being in the chorus and doing some lines and Quinn doing the deep vocals), But Idk, maybe the guionists choose Rachel because their friendship was starting to grow. Even so, this had to be a solo.
big agree. lea singing this song leaves a LOT to desire. i wish she wouldn’t have been in the beginning with naya. i’m not saying lea isn’t an incredible singer, but from what i’ve seen, she can only do a very very very specific type of vocal… whereas naya can adapt to pretty much anything.
I still remember watching this episode for the first time when it aired. Although it was nice to see Santana and Rachel do this song together for the sake of the storyline, I agree that I would've loved it as just a Santana-led song. Also, I couldn't erase the memory that this was also Tina's audition song to get into the Glee club on the 1st episode!
This whole episode was about the glee club coming together to support Santana. You already reviewed the whole incident with the pizza guy candidate outing Santana, then the TroubleTones sang the mashup of Rumer Has It/Someone Like You, then Santana slapped Finn. Finn made sure Santana didn't get expelled and in return she had to be there for the rest of them to sing to her about how much they loved her and stood by her through this. This song was the last one, and I guess they added in Rachel because she didn't sing her own song - but they could have limited her to a few lines like "I hope my boyfriend don't mind it" since Santana didn't have a boyfriend obviously, and maybe "I'm curious for you" because Santana is too straightforward to use that line. Check out Santana singing Back to Black, it's fantastic!
I highly recommend listening to the songs from teen beach movie. Some of my personal favorites are, on my own, can’t stop singing, cruisin for a bruisin, gotta be me and surfs up. Also the movie is rly good too and has a very interesting plot
IIRC this song was selected by the girls show their support for Santana. At this stage the glee club was split between the new directions and the troubletones. The Troubletones was Santana's glee club so they would naturally supportive. The remaining New Direction girls were Rachel Tina and Quinn. Neither Tina or Quinn were particularly antagonistic with Santana at this moment in time so Rachel became the figure you wouldn't expect to be in Santana's corner (although with 2 Gay Dads perhaps Rachel would be naturally sympathetic). Kissed a girl isn't exactly a great just come out as a lesbian song imo anyway.

You should react to To Love You More, for me one of the best Rachel songs. There´s next to none reactions of that song and it's an amazing performance. I agree that Rachel shouldn't have been in this song though, although I loved their friendship in the show even if they hated each other in real life lmao
Hi again! So, when you noticed the deep voice at the end and wondered if it was Quinn, yes, I think it was. Dianna’s natural voice is contralto/tenor and at times even maybe a little bit baritone. She was told by her agent to sound young for the audition, which she did by lifting her voice considerably. So the show runners kept her singing alto for most of the time, near the top of her range. But when they needed it, she could pull out some impressively low tones, but they really only let her have that when she was doing harmonies. As for why Rachel got in on what definitely should have been Santana’s solo… Well, aside from Lea’s need for the spotlight dovetailing so perfectly with Ryan’s worship of her and desire to put her first in everything… Notice early on in the performance when it’s Santana and Brittany on the right, and a mirroring brunette-blonde duo on the left? Yeah. I’ll maintain to my dying day that - as much as I adore Brittana - I don’t think either of them was the originally intended gay cheerleader on the show. You feel me on this? Like. Watch Quinn. Watch where her attention usually is. Watch what makes her smile for real, not from smugness and superiority, but just what makes her genuinely enjoy herself. Usually, it’s Rachel. Mmhm. Remember “You KeepMe Hanging On?” I could do a dissertation on this, but that was a fantasy sequence. And what was Quinn’s fantasy? Herself, surrounded by cheerleaders in footballer drag, singing directly after an altercation with Rachel, to set her free. The only way for Quinn to be showing more gay without realizing it would be for her to be ME in high school. 😂
…In other words, I think that song was there in part to suggest that there might be more to their story at some point. I did consider whether the way Quinn is portrayed was someone telling Dianna to do it, or if she just decided to do it. But either way, apparently no one ever told her *not* to do it, nor edited it out of the footage. So it was intentional at some level.

@@roymcb8687 her backing Santana against the jock was more than enough to show the support. She didn’t need to sing the song with her as the song was about her accepting who she truly is

Not their best duet, but it’s not bad. Naya definitely carried and I agree that Lea wasn’t the best choice for this song. This episode and mostly this song is about showing support to Santana. Which is why all the girls are involved. It was also the beginning of Rachel and Santanas friendship. It makes sense why she’s here.
@@Tea_Hags I see that but in that case it makes way more sense for all the girls to sing with Santana instead of just Rachel. Especially the girls whom she had longer friendships with.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOOD REACT TO OVER THE MOON ULTILUMINARY , by Soo, you already reacted to the artist
Not their best duet, but it’s not bad. Naya definitely carried and I agree that Lea wasn’t the best choice for this song. Vocals aside, it made no sense for Rachel to sing it, let along have the dual lead. For the episode, it should have been a Santana solo or a Brittana duet. At least Brittney was relevant to the plot.
Please react to Oops I did it again by Rachel.
It’s sexy, different and super cool.
Also loved your reaction as aways. 🤍
Please do a reaction for Rolling in the deep by glee😤
Fun facts: the part when you thought it was Quinn...it actually was Santana.
I feel it was a blend of Santana and Rachel. I hate this dying do much I think it's the first time I listen to it thoroughly.
Can you react to chloe and halle's tiny desk
Early! Just discovered you and love your videos! Can you do a react to Todrick Hall's and Nicole S.'s song "Papi"??
It’s only Santana and Rachel singing the whole time
Also I know you don't react to live performances often, but this video of Lea singing last month is SO SO good. I'd love to hear your thoughts about it. 😊 ua-cam.com/video/akm0khOcGGU/v-deo.html
Artie supported the love

Could you react to lady gaga, la vie en rose, she has two performances, one in Tony Bennet birhtday and another in her movie A star ir born. I Love your videos ❤
Slightly bias, ha.
I never understood why Ryan & co chose THIS song for Santana. There are, well were soooo many other better LGBT themed songs they could've used. I get that Katy Perry was relevant at the time but still.
This wqw tinas audition song to join glee club
What I think is so weird, is how much of a pass girls get for all the touchy feely.
