Somethings that have helped me with the multiple bug strikes on the windshield ; *Scrubblade “heavy duty” wiper blades; I buy them usually at Love’s. * telescoping handle- to screw a squeegee or brush to scrub the glass from ground level. * spray bottle with water or glass cleaner and small squirt of Dawn soap to use instead of filthy truckstop window cleaning buckets and broken and dirty squeegees. I’m setting at the house watching this episode for the first time and felt like offering things that have worked for me. Have a good week ahead !
To me, after 30+ years in trucking, mostly as a driver, the most important thing I saw here was a driver smart enough to know when to pull over and take a nap. No load is worth your life or somebody else's. As drivers we are put on tight, sometimes impossible schedules. Though Shelby was not nodding off here, she knows when to pull over. One of the most important things to know in trucking is when to get yourself off the road.
To get the bugs all the way off, go to home depot or lowes and get the blue synthetic swamp cooler pad. Then cut a 4x12 inch rectangle, wet windshield then use the cooler pad to scrub windshield. You don't have to scrub hard and this will not harm the glass.
Pro-tip When my windshield is bad enough that I have to climb up on my steers, I don't use that watered-down truck stop crap. Get some Tilex w/bleach or SprayNine. Both are good for vinyl floors, and floor mats.
Appreciate your content. Tired of seeing other complain about companies they drive for and how they are getting the shaft. Your videos are always upbeat and just share you driving experience which is what I appreciate.
You are so positive and inspiring. Ready to drive a truck again after a 20 year reprieve (teaching K-12 the last several years)...and staying fit has been on my mind. Last time (I'd stay out 2-3 months at a time), I'd try to avoid truck stops foods and do Tai Chi and old Army calisthenics at rest stops and such...despite the funny looks I got. Can't wait to see the country again! Thank you for your youthful energy!
The odd thing about exercising is that you have more energy when you finish than when you start. Just keep doing it and you'll feel good mentally and physically. Good to see you again.
For those tough bugs on the windshield try soaking the windshield with cheap glass cleaner and let it sit for a few minutes. Usually that’s enough to dissolve them enough to allow the wipers to knock them off👍🏻
Hello Shelby. Sweden here. When it comes to training and if you don´t have much space. You can get rubber bands with various strengths at the gym shops. You can exercise the whole body with them. Legs, back, shoulders, and arms. Pilates is also a great exercise where you don´t need to carry a whole with you. You might need to add a medicine (a small one) with you if you have room for one. with that, you can keep up and stay in good shape while you are on the roads. Or take a long walk in the morning with Dakota before it gets too warm/cold. I take long walks every morning to clear my head before I get out on the road. Stay safe and I´m looking forward to more vlogs from you.
Just want to say hello Sweden! My Grampa and his brothers came from Sweden--that's all I know. They all had gone when I was young so I couldn't ask questions. My dad had gotten in touch with some family over there but that information was lost when he died. Just always curious about my roots and why I am like I am. Stay well.
Young lady...you motivate me! I'm a 50 year young lady and admire you... you are out here killing it! Very proud of you! Would love to know you more because you could help this old/young lady... I've been a company driver for a mega carrier for 3 years and you have helped me! Love you sister!
May I ask which carrier? I also am a lady -- a vintage one!!! Just confused about which carrier. I'd rather dry van or reefer. Thank you if get back for any info.
Thank you 4 sharing. You ar the a true inspiration for alot of women out there you inspire me so I made my decision of also becoming a truck driver. May God always be with you and Dakota on your ventures.
yeah; hardest part is starting. ive been workiong out only a week, but took a break on the weekend; half the time i dont know what im doing but all i know is that im simply following a set of 6 exercises every day just to work on my abs. might not be the best or ideal, but at least its something that gets me moving and walking everyday does help in some way, especially for me (may maybe some of you out there) since im sitting in a office almost all day, so it does kinda feel refreshing to at least go on a 15 min walking break glad to see you back Shelby!
The hardest part is starting, but as long as you have discipline and make yourself do it then it'll just stick. I don't weight much, usually about 150-160 but over quarantine I went up to 170 and I saw it so then I realized 'wow I need to work out' and at first it was hard getting up to do it but now I do it everyday, I've lost 10 pounds in about 3 months. Might not seem like much but I'm also not a big guy and this is where my normal weight is at. Just keep pushing and you'll get used to it, plus it honestly relieves stress lol
Thank you Shelby and Dakota for this video, its been awhile, since we have seen you in this format, much love and respect , keep on doing what your doing
I started exercising in summer 2016 and it was like a new experience, which comes in handy because I work at jobs to where I have to touch my freight so far. Another thing is that it helps me out in general for any physical activities like law work. I have a slender physique and before I got into working out, I was out of shape. I made plans to do it much earlier and did work on it, but it was a short-lived moment. Plus my mom’s old boyfriend (when I went to their house for the weekend) made us do push ups if we did something wrong (which made me treat it as a punishment than a healthy activity). If I was OTR, I would definitely make it a point to work out during load/unload, and before bed time.
Always love when you upload a video, it's a ton of fun watching them! Love Dakota also. I love how you encourage people to work out, it's not easy to find the time or place but I try to do it as well when I'm working. If I park up at a forest or somewhere nice at least I go for a walk, it's better than not doing anything. I love it also how diverse the nature and landscape is in the US. Amazing scenery. :)
Oh man that stories of the desert 😂. Cars coming in the wrong lane head on into my lane, random donkey's, truck's just slamming on their brakes and going to the shoulder, at terrible's on the outskirts of Vegas a coyote was just walking around and chilling like a dog would be.
You can do the "Walking Lunges" the length of your truck and trailer 2 to 3 times non-stop,depending how long your trailer is, where you Walking doing the lunges as you get stronger You can carry 2.5lbs-7.5lbs and just just weights when you legs get tired and continue to do "Walking lunges".Trust me that will be a hard leg work out session
Welcome back. Check out Trucking with Schmidt. He drives w/his Shepherd Opie and has these reall amazing collapsible steps that work perfectly for his pup to get in and out of the truck easily. Better for the joints and hips. Think he got them on Amazon.
Great to see you're back Shelby! Yes sticking with an exercise program can be a real challenge. I've been working out for 2 or more hours 3 days a week for a couple of years now & just recently I started skipping a workout here & there. Just forced myself to do it again today, so I fully understand where you're coming from:)
It's worth having a can of Mac's glass cleaner and a scrub brush squeegee, I run next to a river at night a lot so I need an ice scraper sometimes for the bugs.😳 They're so thick that when I wash them like you just did all I get done is seeing what they ate ... Be safe and stay healthy and amazing Shelby, thanks so much for sharing your journeys with us. Have a great week!!!
Hi, I really admire what you do. My brother is also trucker. I always pray for you guys “truckers” to keep you safe and protect you guy whatever you are. Stay fit!
Good ole Nevada. I didn’t like driving through there at night either. Nothing for miles. Made me nervous if I was to break down. But once the sun came up, it’s beautiful seeing all the mountains & flats.
You made my night! However, exercising like you do makes me tired! Dakota you are the best! Really enjoy the adventures on the road with you! Be safe you two!
Just found your channel!! Your energy is uplifting and your passion for what you do shines through. Keep being yourself in the videos and your channel will keep growing, your authenticity is what draws more viewers in. Blessing to you in your travels.
I almost always exclusively stopped at various gyms across the country. For showers and workouts. I don't like stopping at truck stops. It's good to see you back, driver.
Hello if you haven't exercised in a year you still look damn good walking is the best exercise I walk every night I usually walk around 5 miles a day I do it every single day
Hi Shelby. 😎 For the bug-guts and just improved visibility in the rain, Use Rain-X on the glass and use Rain-X washer fluid bug juice formula. all there washer fluid formulas are really great. You'll never go back to using the regular bottles of blue-juice. once the windshield has rain-x on it, the bug-guts wash off with no effort. 👍
Always enjoy your videos! The variety of scenery and comments are great. Your sidekick Dakota is a big plus! Keep up the good work, stay safe, and stay healthy.
So so nice to have you back blogging and Dakota here to. The hardest part is starting to workout but if you keep it up it’s gets easier. Just work to your level and taking breaks is normal for someone starting out like you. That a good exercise mat you have there to. Lol the scoops always seem to find their way to the bottom. Bugs always find the windshield for some reason. I really like Dakota bed. Hope you stay safe out there on the road.
I grew up playing basketball and still do just because I have yet to find anything that gets me in better shape. My dog loves chasing the ball so its like playing one on one too when I play in the driveway. Anyways to the point, find something you like to do, is fun to do and it will be easy to stick with.
Wow, It was summertime bright seeing you again here in this video, and I just such a lot of hard things I appreciate your kindness because I had fun this time too, and honestly you're together with God he gives you a take a break when you're tired anyway your smile was very good peace is with you guys blessings
Hey Shelby, I think Dakota was not afraid of the boogeyman. I think she was watching Opie on the "Trucking with Schmidt" youtube channel and thought: "Where the h... are my stairs, mom?" Love your vlogs. Andy.
Good to hear from you again Shelby, you don't feature on UA-cam so much, great to see you are happy and progressing, stay healthy and safe, much love ❤️👍🇬🇧 keep on trucking shel💗
for the bugs use chemical guys bug and tar remover! it will keep the bugs off more. also if you use a ceramic or wax on your truck will keep more bugs off they will slide off more.
Enjoyed the video. I try to do 150 push-ups every night on the road. Like you said, starting is the hardest point but after it becomes a routine it’s a piece of cake. Keep on trucking driver!
Awesome! I’ve been doing this for a few years. I’ll usually park and get a Lyft/Uber to a gym to lift weights. But when I can’t, I do what I can outside the truck. But any movement is really good for you, especially in this profession. Keep it up! It’s addictive.
Been missing your videos so glad to see that you are back and doing well. You really love Dakota and she is so funny when you leave the cab. Be safe on the road and keep the vlogs coming.
Always nice to see you and Dakota, missed your videos. You're looking strong and a lean machine 😍 It takes a lot to workout like that on the road, I would have to do it when I wake up, couldn't before going to sleep. Stay safe!
Good to see you return. Keep at the fitness Shelby, 75% is the motivation to do it in the first place. Love the scenery in real time; hope to join you again soon for another trip.
I highly recommend get a set of resistance bands the loop style and a kettlebell. People don't think it but you can do so many things with both and get an effective full body workout in a small amount of time especially with the kb being both strength resistance and cardio. So just a suggestion.
Good to see how you are moving freight out there for us. I'm in Management at FedEx back in Pittsburgh. I have employees domiciled at the PRR location (overgoods) in SLC. Appreciate you all you do!
I'm happy to see you back. Now you can work on your conditioning looks like you got a good handle on it. I'm also thinking that driving big rig is a pretty good workout itself I got to hand it to you great job
I drive dump trucks and when I'm waiting for the loader to get to me, I'll get out and do lunges and push-ups to try and stay in better shape. Its definitely worth it, and remember its 80% diet 20% exercise.
My last run OTR 2 weeks ago, was thru Nevada. I ran Kingman , thru Las Vegas to Reno at night. That was kinda cool. Hardly any traffic, and in the middle of nowhere (think Area 52) . Occasionally slowing down going thru the little towns on the way. Got some awesome sunrise pictures at Walker Lake. I got tired of reefer life, and all the bs that goes with it. Gonna go back to fuel hauling.
Enjoyed your only truckdrivers will understand TikTok. Nevada: 1982 and 1983 basically read much of Scholzinietzens (spelling) trilogy going back and forth across Nevada; yesterdays texting while driving . My bad. But love that drive. I was 27 . . . 29 when I got out of the cab. Kept my weight down by never carrying snacks, eating salads and fish in the truck stops, drinking coffee, keeping amped on Copenhagen, and doing isometric exercises while driving. Your doing great! Keep it up, you'll never regret it.
Driving to my delivery this morning in WA, I saw this guy on his bike cycling with his loyal parrot sitting on his shoulder. Through my mind I thought that is a good parrot to just chill on his humans shoulder while he was pedaling.
FOR YOUR SUMMER BUG PROBLEM GET A BOTTLE OF SIMPLE GREEN SPRAY IT ON THE WINDOW THENTHE WHIPPER BRUSH, ALOT OF THE TRUCK STOPS DON'T PUT ANY WASHER FLUID IN THE BUCKETS JUST DIRTY WATER
When you’re in Nevada, swing by the house if you wanna take it break from the weirdness. I live along the 80. I will give you a shake too so you can maintain all that positive energy you exhibit on your videos. Stay positive.🙏
It's always nice to join Your trips because of so many nice landscape-views - I adore them. And yes: Beginning something new is always a good thing. Going on is life - sitting down forever is dying, isn't it? - Anyhow: I hope, Your job is fine!
I use steel wool SOS pads from the grocery store and a spray bottle, and clean my windshield every morning. Steel wool blows through bug splatters like nothing.
Try to wax your windshield and side windows after a clean wash. The bugs will be easier to be removed and it will repel WATARRRRRR lol......plus your wipers will glide much easier :)
Also Listen to those Motivational Videos from Around Schwarzenegger workout videos not just His videos there are more of thise types of videos on UA-cam. The videos and Motivational ones are awesome they are what pushes me beyond my regular mindset.

If you had a gym membership you can go there, workout, shower and have a warm safe place in the winter .Great motivational speech!!
Girl, Chloe Ting is beast. I get tired just WATCHING. I have not tried DOING...
The odd thing about exercising is that you have more energy when you finish than when you start. Just keep doing it and you'll feel good mentally and physically. Good to see you again.
I felt that way too
I hear that a lot but it’s hard to get the energy to work out so you can get that energy. lol
@@vapingfastbreak5629 Once you get in the habit of exercising, you'll miss it if you don't exercise.

Occasionally slowing down going thru the little towns on the way. Got some awesome sunrise pictures at Walker Lake. I got tired of reefer life, and all the bs that goes with it. Gonna go back to fuel hauling.
Welcome back Shelby! Great to see both you and Dakota! Stay safe and healthy!!
Glad to see your back!
I've always said, the hardest thing about going to the gym, is just going to the gym. Once you're there you will work out.
Nice to see you back on here been while , you have to much energy , take care God be with you always
Thank you for being here, hope to see more from you.
YAY! Words of wisdom from Dakota finally.
Great to see you Shelby! Hi Dakota 🐾❤. Safe travels guys and keep the vlogs coming! 🚛 🎬 😃
- Anyhow: I hope, Your job is fine!
yeah, I had to take a nap after watching the intro. dreaming is my exercise
That wild man in the car was very interesting🧐 keep up the working out and eatting right. Your going to feel great and tons more energy.
I use steel wool SOS pads from the grocery store and a spray bottle, and clean my windshield every morning. Steel wool blows through bug splatters like nothing.
ya Shelby is back love seeing the vids
Try to wax your windshield and side windows after a clean wash. The bugs will be easier to be removed and it will repel WATARRRRRR lol......plus your wipers will glide much easier :)
Also Listen to those Motivational Videos from Around Schwarzenegger workout videos not just His videos there are more of thise types of videos on UA-cam. The videos and Motivational ones are awesome they are what pushes me beyond my regular mindset.
