I come back and watch this one at least once a week ... you have many fine vids , but IMO , this is the best ... you knocked this one & “Ventura Highway “ out of the park.
You pick some tricky songs for one man,but you perform extremely well. The people who watch you enjoy your music. You can tell when you scroll down and read their comments. Very enjoyable Russ.
Outstanding cover Russ! I was watching you on the keyboards and when you were doing your arm movements I half expected you to break out into the “Carlton” dance from Fresh Prince. It’s awesome seeing you enjoying yourself!
Say what you will about Kirshner's business practices but he sure had an unfailing sense of ear candy. This is among my top Monkees songs, even if it really wasn't a Monkees song. I wonder how Kirshner got Jones to record the vocal without the other guys ... anyway, brilliant cover as usual. Thank you, Ross! And ... just saying .... probably my two VERY favorite Monkees songs were "Saturday's Child" and "Some Time in the Morning." As a pre-pubescent boy trying to learn about love through pop lyrics, those two songs represented equal and opposite approaches to my developing mind. And the tunes of course are great so ... maybe if you love either or both of those songs, maybe you'll cover one some day? Though they are not as well known as the big hits.
We now know who played all the instruments and sang all the backing vocal parts. The cleverly-worded description above is Russ’s way of finally letting the cat out of the bag.
Great song choice. I'm currently working on this one too What chords are you playing (relative to the capo) during the "Girl I don't want to fight" part? I've seen several different options and none sound just right to me.
Another PERFECT Monkees cover, complete with handclaps!!
As always, many thanks!
Oh, Lord!! Blessed be you, Mr. Ross 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thanks so much!
Russ, you are a one man “Wrecking Crew.” Thanks for honoring these classic songs, with your equally great (and sometimes superior) covers.
LOL! Thank much, Chris!
He seriously is!

Great way starting my day listening to these great songs😁👍👍👍
So glad to hear it...thanks much!

And “Reflections of my life” moved me ... you deserve major kudos for that one as well.

Oh my goodness Russ! You played Neil Diamond's cords at the intro perfectly. Way to go!!!
As always, many thanks!
Gotta be one of the best covers Ive ever seen
I appreciate it, thanks!
Man... can you ever tell this is a Neil Diamond tune (Monkees or no Monkees). Beautifully done, as usual.
Thanks.....appreciate the kind words!
Notice the similarity of this song with Neil's "Cherry, Cherry"? He gave this one to Monkees' Davy Jones to sing.
Great job, as usual, Russ!
SO good I had to listen again. Excellent playing and vocals and the mix is great! 👏👏👏🎤🎸🎹🥁

Oh! Amazing!
I have the piano score for this piece. but can't play the song.
It is amazing that you can play all the parts according to the original.
Thanks so much! It's funny...I don't read music.
Brilliant….it must have taken you ages 😃
Thanks so much! Each video takes about nine hours or so.
Outstanding cover Russ! I was watching you on the keyboards and when you were doing your arm movements I half expected you to break out into the “Carlton” dance from Fresh Prince. It’s awesome seeing you enjoying yourself!
Thanks so much, Robert! Trust me....you don't want to see me actually try to dance.
Very Cool.

Freaking Briliant !!!
Thank you very much!
You ever listen to the Barenaked ladies? You could crush some of their songs for sure!
Thanks! I love Barenaked Ladies (I've seen them in concert about eight times).....great band.
@@russwilloughby501 nice! I am thoroughly jealous.
nice work
Thanks much Tom!
Great song choice. I'm currently working on this one too What chords are you playing (relative to the capo) during the "Girl I don't want to fight" part? I've seen several different options and none sound just right to me.
Thanks much, Tony. So the "fingering" is D, G, F#M, EM...but capo'ed up.
Good cover. Do you know huntington wv.
Thanks. I did three shows in Huntington back in the late 80s with my band THRUSTER.
You play so many instruments but can play just one at a time. Which do you play first? The results are excellent!
Thanks much, Jose. Which instrument I play first really depends on the song. On this song the acoustic guitar came first.
Great job man, your covers are excellent! If you don't mind sharing, what model is your drum kit? TIA
Thanks, I appreciate it. The kit is an Alesis Command Mesh. It took some serious tweaking to get it where I wanted it, sound-wise..
Better than the Monkees. Just sayin'
Not sure about that, but I really appreciate it!
This is another classic written by Neil Diamond but the original had a faster tempo and wasn't a hit .
Thanks for watching!
You must really love the monkeys. Excellent !!
