I own a SD9VE, had it for about 2 years now, I must have a freak of a gun, eats every type of ammo, never had any Fails what-so-ever ...... I really like the gun after well over 600+ rounds thru it ....
Highly recommend to anyone for an affordable gun that shoots well and can be trusted. It's a mock Glock...that's a good thing and $200 cheaper. The trigger pull is a good thing and an added safety.
I bought two of these a few years ago, gave one to my daughter for a college graduation present. The price attracted me to them. I put in the Apex trigger and springs, as well as a Galloway Precision sear spring and metal guide rod. I polished all the internals. My trigger is very light now. Its much better than my son's new Glock 19 Gen 4. I did this with a SD40VE also. It's the best value out there.
Love my sd9ve I replaced the trigger and springs with apex kit replaced the take down lever with a extended take down for a glock 19 and a steel guide rod and 20lb spring ... made this gun a dream to shoot with no ejection problems and very low felt recoil now ... it will eat everything u feed it!!!
You don't have to pull the trigger to take it apart, just pull the slide back enough to pressure check the weapon, pull the slide release and then pull the slide forward, you only need to pull the trigger if you rack the slide back far enough to load the chamber
Nice gun super reliable also open to upgrades like trigger replacement which is a plus; i did my trigger and it feels super good very professional (did it myself following Apex video tutorial)
One of the most underrated guns on the market. The trigger is no where near as bad as it's said to be. Excellent weight and balance for a gun this size. Great shooting gun.

Any sights for a m&p will fit. Any extended take down bar for a Glock will fit. If you get the trigger and spring's. Replace all the spring besides the trigger return spring. That way the trigger resets with Authority.
J. Dalton Good advice! This will be the first aftermarket trigger kit that I will have installed. I was also told not to replace the striker spring, too, if I go Apex.
travisp11 You can replace it. I did on mine with no problems. With the apex return spring. It lighter for a lighter pull. But it don't reset as hard as the OEM. And the trigger it self. All you have to do is file the back down to get it to break. That's good because you can can adjust the over travel.
J. Dalton I agree, I installed the Apex trigger and the whole spring kit and it felt good but I couldn't ride the reset, it felt like the trigger return spring had no tension on the trigger. I put the stock trigger return spring back in and now the trigger feels really good compared to the stock hinged contraption that comes with it. In my opinion the Apex trigger is the best upgrade you can do to a m&p or sd, this is how they should come from the factory. I have them in two m&ps and a sd9.
@@travisp11 Good video. I have a question about my SD9. The trigger pin on mine is counter sunk in the frame hole deeper on the left side (the side with the slide catch lever) than the right side. It is counter sunk on the right side but quite abit less. How does yours look? I looked at a New one last night and the trigger pin was more evenly installed on that one. It might be a silly question. I do tend to nit pick my guns. I really didn't notice how the pin was seated when I got It. Its not sticking out past the hole but it's not even on both sides. Thanks for your time.
Best budget pistol out there had one in 40 sold it after shooting a few pistols with good triggers. Kind of wish I would've dropped in an apex and kept it don't even own a striker fired pistol anymore
Yep. Same here. Started with the sd40. Bought some more premium pistols. After a couple years I took it out of the safe and installed Apex kit and Galloway sear spring and it's a different gun. And was only $35 in parts. Now it's in a pistol vault hanging out on one side of my house with a light on it for home defense. 14 rounds of 40sw will do some work!
I have an SD9VE and several other 9mm pistols (6) and in the niche of a full sized carry pistol this is my favorite! It was value priced, is accurate, exceptionally reliable, has good sights even though they are plastic, and excellent magazines with 16 round capacity. The only things I upgraded was a stainless guide rod & spring and a slightly extended take down tab (which I also did on my Glock). In fact I replaced the factory guide rod & spring on all my pistols with plastic guide rods with stainless assemblies. What is not to like?
travisp11 I was looking for an extra mag for my cpx2 and it was 40 to 46 dollars at a local store. That's way cheaper for a mag for this gun then a SCCY mag.
RowCall 219 PSA is selling SD9VE Mags for $20-24 each. That seems to be the lowest price I can find. Not sure about CPX2 mags because I called SCCY about defective mags and they sent me new ones.

If you pull on the magazine at all while shooting or if your grip places downward pressure on the mag it will not lock open. It also goes into battery if you slam the magazine in with too much force.

Glock sued Smith & Wesson over the Sigma not the SD9…The SD9 came out right after the Glock drama. The Sigma series pistols were so similar to the competing Glock pistols that Glock sued Smith & Wesson for patent infringement.
