"this band is well rehearsed!" - then you find out Larnell Louis (drummer) learned the album on the 8 hour flight to the studio, landed, and crushed it.
Holy smokes …. That’s insane
@@GlassesKingdom yep and everyone rehearsed and learned the whole album in a weekend XD
@@avory8517 I wished I could hear what they could do if they rehearsed it one year...but then I would need a heart replacement.
@@fedea82 yeah but at the same time if you think about it, it wouldn't have the same magic or the same feel of how it is now xD
@@avory8517after a year? it would have a much, much, much better feel, magic etc.
My belief and experience as a band musician is that practice increases those qualities in a band not just linearly, but also exponentially.
Although if they had waited that long we wouldnt have the anecdote and the "wow" factor, though.
“There isn’t anything about this presentation that is not crazy”… lol. What a perfect way to describe this
LOL. Your "HE WASN'T DONE YET?!" is exactly how I felt the first time I heard it.
Lol he crazy
One of the most amazing things about this band, and Michael League's direction and production in particular, is how although there's about 16 musicians playing together, as tight as they are, somehow they all seem to get their individual time to shine.
Amazing!
I've seen probably 20 reaction vids to this song (and watched it close to, if not more than, 100x), and you are THE FIRST to make note of the keyboard improv at 3:07. I have a VERY robust sound system, with 3 large subs, and that moment is my favorite in this ~10min of absolute virtuoso performing.
Oh my gosh I got goose pimples reading your message
It’s a beautiful chord change
I didn’t realize it was improv, but it’s always been my favorite part of the second opening verse. It gives it a little bit of contrast to the first
Crazy what an exaggerated half-step passing chord can do! It even caught Cory off guard lol
@@pastense lol that's what improv does
I've seen a load of reaction videos but yours was the first reaction that was exactly like when I saw it. It is even more impressive when you realise that ... i) the song was written by the bass player ii) the band only rehearsed it for the first time the day before this recording WITHOUT a drummer iii) the drummer Larnell Lewis (?) flew over from the US to Holland on the day of the video, listened to the demo of the song on the plane and had one rehearsal before this video was made.
This band are just one of the best around.
wow , that's impeccable
Written while flying on Lingus Airlines
I am so happy....all of you musicians were BORN, I really do. I love you guy's parents, for birthing such amazing musician specialists into this mundane world of hell. Life became tolerable from just experiencing this intricate musicianship and master class contribution. I don't understand why music does to the brain and spirit as it does. But I NEED it and can't balance out my life without it. It's another language another form of LOVING someone if thee creators want it to be. For my mental health.....please stay safe and healthy.
Wow wow wow. This is epic. Blessings Glasses Kingdom
YES these guys are crazy talented
One thing I love about this reaction video is that I have exactly those JBL headphones so I feel like I'm enjoying it the same way as you! Hahahaha
Omg 😳
This was the BEST reaction video to this song 🎵💜💯👏🏾👏🏾 3:21
YEEEEEESSSS IVE BEEN WAITING For THIS!! 😁
lol , it was you who actually request this
I’m so happy that got to do this!!!
An absolute TREAT ‼️ Please share this one with your friends, so the SNARKY HEADS CAN FIND THIS VIDEO ….. it’s the first time on GK , and it’s an old video , so no one hardly searching for it
I shared it. Larnell has a big following. His performance at zildjian live was spectacular.
@@mike4769 thank you so much, I really appreciate you
That man is a beast when it comes to those chords. You should here what they did to "Giant Steps".
Love your reactions to this!! Very similar to many of my own. Such a great recording!
Larnell lewis is a beast on drums, both he and Cory are on another planet
Great reaction!!!
Great reaction! Loved it!
Glad you enjoyed
I love those full-screen cut-ins 🤣
lol , yes i had to highlight em in full the parts that stands out exceptionally well
EPIC is the Word!!! This musical piece is tremendus!! OMG
Absolutely
Hey TR - this has been around for a long time, but still blows my mind every time!! Yeah, Cory Henry & Larnell Lewis...genius!! But like you said, all of them! I can't hear it as well as I'd like, but I love that rendition of Donna Lee in your intro! I can't tell, sounds like could be Bereli Lagrene or Jimmy Bruno - or Matteo Mancuso? Whoever it is, it's brilliant! I love to play that, and play over the changes. I want to make a video soon, playing it over a backing track - I wish I could get some players together instead, but the way things have been...
Yes , funny enough I watched this yrs ago , but one of my subscribers keep recommending it and even when I said I wouldn’t do it because I watched it already few times, I couldn’t believe that I was entertained like it was the first…. You know musicians well yes it was Donna-Lee in the background of the intro and yes you got it (Matteo Mancuso )
@@GlassesKingdom Haha - I thought at first Bereli or Jimmy, but there were a couple crazy licks right before it fades out, where I thought "maybe that's Matteo!" Do you think you might react to him sometime?
@@FretsOnFire I actually reacted to him already and deleted it, he performed my favourite version of Spain
@@GlassesKingdom Oh yes, I just heard that recently....amazing!! Such a unique arrangement! Why deleted, copyright? Ever since I started watching your reactions, I thought that you had a facial resemblance to a great musician, but I couldn't remember who - it came to me just now: the great trumpeter and genius jazz composer, Woody Shaw! (R.I.P.) Woody was one of my biggest heroes, even though he once told me to "Shut up". I deserved it, LOL!! (I was a teenager way back then, I'll be 61 in Dec.) I came up to him after a set he was not happy with (but I was too dumb to realize...) and I gushed out some stupid, fanboy stuff. He simply said "shut up" and walked away, haha - the coolest! Actually, I became an even bigger fan after that!😂🤣 To me, you look like you could maybe be brothers or cousins - what do you think? www.amazon.com/Essential-Woody-Shaw-Columbia-Years/dp/B079YGP123
@@FretsOnFire wow I could see why you think I resemble Woody Shaw , you are right
This is probably the best thing I've heard in my life ! Absolutely epic
you should check out "what about me" from the same album. it has a nice guitar solo
Donna Lee in the intro. Nice!
they are in 5/4 most of the song... they do switch to 4/4 . when cory henry.. the organ/keyboard player starts his solo and they ride 4/4 out.. hope i helped
Yeah that's what's weird it's just a really syncopated 4/4
yes, Corey Henry is really marvelous at the keyboard. But what really makes my jaw drop is how tight the horn section is. Remind you, they're not playing by any notes. They're almost like jamming on some tunes they just agreed on. It's like a Vulcan mind-melt.
great observation
Great reaction video! This band is indeed insane. Please try the band Yosha and their song "Fire Rhythm".
I love that song, imagine me i walk into glam city.
Do you know Yamandu Costa? Guitarist. Any video will blow your mind
Btw you should check when they invited Lala Hathaway to sing her song "something". Not much went on, except for her literal jazz voice solos 🤣 plus her usage of polyphonic overtone (aka SINGING 2 NOTES SIMULTANEOUSLY). I didn't even know that was humanly possible, bet you didn't either....
She certainly blew these monsters minds off, and I think I got PTSD 😝
Please react to it!!!
I will certainly check it
Dude - just subbed. Search "Larnell Lewis Zildjian Live" if you really want to see this drummer get to work! (And with another cracking band!)
The legend lady slowrock Indonesian Nike Ardilla suara hatiku
I have two artists you could listen to, one if which actually performed kne of his songs WITH Snarky Puppy.
1. Jacob Collier: “All Night Long”, “Moon River”, “Don’t You Worry ‘bout a Thing” or “Don’t You Know” (w/ SP)
2. Dirty Loops: “Work $hit Out” or “Thriller” (w/ Cory Wong)
React "What about me?" Snarky Puppy. Belo vídeo irmão (good video brother).
i suggest The Clearing from their album sylva
Please react to "Outlier - Snarky Puppy"
Maybe do a larnell lewis zildjian live reaction.

Omg 😱 you really want to hear some of my favourite music, ?
For starters, chick corea Spain cover by SNIPS
@@GlassesKingdom oh my this is nice. So clean, tasty, and effortless. Love the tripletized version of the main lick!
@@itsmichaeldooley yasss you know it , I will share some of my favourites, did you see my Dirty loops reaction?
@@GlassesKingdom No but I'll check it out! Honestly I have to take Dirty Loops in small bits.
Have you checked out Knower? And by extension, Clown Core?

Evry part is a surprice
Yup
if you want to know how well snarky puppy rehearses have a look at ua-cam.com/video/5p5sEewsYNM/v-deo.html . unbelievable.
You look stressed af during that solo.
Yes he stressed mi TF OUT
Crazy thing about this band is that they aren’t really that well rehearsed. Not nearly as much as you think.
Wow 😯
