I'm tearing mine down tomorrow. Temp and humidity went way up 12 hours agoe and stayed there (temp shows 109.6f when it's 24f). anything you ran across that may be the problem? Soldering/desoldering is no problem for me. already tried batteries and a reset. Thankls.
I was a few weeks past the end of the warranty period and they still agreed to replace the outdoor array for me. I do recall the sensors were in a little pouch hidden in the louvers & plugged into the main board. Other than that I got nothing. It is curious that both sensors went off at the same time.
Great video, lots of detail. I have the WS-2902B and I messed up and got water inside cleaning it. I took it apart dried it out and it was working but the rain gauge stopped working. My rain gauge uses a reed switch instead of inductance. I disassembled it again and pulled out the little circuit board and tested the reed switch. It tested OK with an ohm meter so I guess I messed something else up with my lack of care during cleaning. How did you get Ambient Weather to just replace the capacitor? It would be great to have a schematic...LOL.
Great video. i know the antenna is 'tuned" but was wondering if anyone has added a wire to it and extend it. i saw where someone did this to a acurite unit and it increased the signal.
I’ve never modified the antenna but the array was two stories up on the peak of my roof & the display in the basement. I never had any signal issues. This ambient station has been the most trouble free setup I’ve owned.
Great teardown video! i also have the same sensor array. Im still newbie and i would to know what communication using in this board? I tried to analyze the logic to find the communication protocol like UART / SPI / etc using logic analyzer and oscilloscope but i have no luck. Maybe i was wrong on doing tapping in the board, do you know what communication using in this module? Thanks
Sir, your way beyond my realm of knowledge with your request. Sure I have a good grasp of how things work & understand precisely what you’re asking but my test equipment consists of a RedFish bluetooth multimeter. Ambient quickly sent me a replacement when my array went down so I figured I’d record the disassembly. I will take this opportunity to say the replacement unit & various remote sensors and my other station at my beach home have since performed flawlessly.

FYI, You can also find pictures of the boards in the FCC filing. The resolution is crap though. Just look up the FCC ID listed on the bottom.
Good information. Luckily that defective unit was a fluke as my other two stations have performed flawlessly over the last two years.
