I'm Native American, born and raised on a reservation, and I was a huge gamer when I was a kid and I have literally never once felt like I needed to see Native Americans in video games to enjoy the games. These people worship race. They are actual racists in their hearts, so they genuinely think it's wrong not to racialize everything. Race is the most important part of their identity, which in turn makes your race the most important part of your identity to them. They just see you as your race. It's literally the opposite of MLK's dream, and I guarantee you that if MLK was alive today these woke people would hate him.

Right. Never once have I needed to play as a white character. Never once did I watch dragon ball Z and feel I needed a white character. I had my favorites for who they were as a person.
Same with video games, almost everyone I know who has played mortal kombat prefers liu Kang over Johnny cage. Kano was cool, but how many white people prefer him over scorpion or sub zero?

Im a huge female gamer my entire life - over 30 years. I dont want games more catered to women. Let me be a woman or man in Skyrim, be Geralt in witcher 3. Its been fine. When a story is naturally good, its good. Its been fine for years. Being bullied in early 90s for gaming as a woman didn't phase me - truthfully lifes been amazing with games in my life.
Here here!! I want to protagonist to be fun and interesting; they aren’t there to make me feel comfortable about myself. If I want that, I’ll get a dog.
The character should be well written and i have seen some well written characters that are females in-game with good character development.
But just look at the new game Stellar Blade for the PS5 and the backlash it got here in the west by woke journalists. The sad part is that the main protagonist is modeled after a real human being. x)

I'm glad my nostalgia decided to kick in a couple weeks ago. Built up a nice collection of games and consoles from NES and Genesis up to PS3 and Xbox 360. If the industry wants to keep going with pumping out messages rather than quality, I've got more than enough of a backlog to tide me over for it.

If you think about what diversity means = less or no white people, then this is the logical conclusion of that ideology. The mindset of diversity allows this situation to occur.
I am a female gamer. Like many others, I have never, in my 15+ years of gaming, felt I was "underrepresented" or whatever. If anything, the new obsession with wokeness etc makes me feel more "marginalised" by the woke games because I can literally relate to nothing they are trying to push now. I have even played games where your character is a guy and I still enjoyed those games immensely. Because I don't play games to "feel represented" etc. I, as many other gamers, play games to escape from the hellscape of a society we have created. Escape into an imaginary world, with amazing characters and storytelling. It's like reading a book or watching a movie. I don't want to see myself in it, I just want to escape into a fictional world with amazing characters and a compelling story.
Now, when this game fails, she's going to blame her awful decisions and impacts for/on the game on "racism" 🙄 but of course, what she said about white people is not racist. Only the ones who critique her are racists. 🙄😒 I really hope all the games they are involved in fail so that maybe, just maybe, companies will finally wake up and listen to us; the people who actually care, play and most importantly *BUY* their games.
People who buy games to feel "represented" are not even gamers, they are professional victims.
All through my childhood, I admired the badass Lara Croft. My friend was self-conscious about her big bre*sts, but I kept telling her how awesome Lara was. There is no problem at all. But now it's embarrassing to be a woman with big bre*sts, right? Because such women according to activists are unrealistic, they can't be cool archaeologists, adventurers, they are only there to attract men. The hypocrisy of bodypositivity.
In my childhood there was also Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield from Resident Evil, Lady from DMС, in the 2000s there was Mass Effect, Dragon Age where you could play anyone you wanted, there was The Elder Scrolls, there were a bunch of games.

I am a middle-aged white guy in a wheelchair. I would bet that if a game company came to me and pitched story ideas, I could come up with a good game story that is inclusive and diverse but without being too woke, and it would appeal to everyone. A custom character creator for example that has racial pre-set options in EQUAL MEASURE. I get it. "Marginalized" groups want representation. The thing is... no single group should ever be elevated and lifted up, if it's at the cost of another. ALL lives matter, and if you don't think that's true, you are part of the problem. EQUAL rights does not mean SPECIAL rights. Any time you put down any group for it's skin color, religion, orientation or identity... is prejudice, no matter how you try to justify it. Fight for EQUAL representation. Make a good game first, a good story... its possible to make it work without making it special interest political.

Im a female gamer, one of the only problems ive ever had with video games was jiggly boobies and extremely unsafe armor for female characters lol. You know what i did if i was bothered enough? I just didnt play it. And the world continued to turn. Never once did i feel the need to take those games from people.

The point of gaming is to escape the reality of the crappy world we are in now. NO ONE wants this crap in games.
And yet women and PoC can't escape the reality of the crappy world in gaming cause of how racist and sexist the gaming demographics can be.
Gamers have been sick and tired of microtransactions for years now, and rather than listening to the people who've been bringing that subject up, the devs are listening to a bunch of agenda-driven children who've never been told "no" in their lives. I'm no gambling man, but I'm willing to bet that now that we're seeing some pushback, a lot of devs will lose lots of money. As someone who's a casual gamer and whose girlfriend is a casual gamer, it's sad to see that it's some social organisation that's being listened to rather than their actual customers.
So much of the power and influence that gaming offers us is the opportunity to inhabit a person unlike ourselves. This is not just bad for gaming, but antithetical to it.
The best part of gamers is they do not care about this stuff they just want a good game. Can we just have a good storyline and good gameplay.
That is all everyone who plays games wants really.

They are making a Black Panther game. It makes sense to hire people of colour to help make the game authentic. If you are making an indigenous game, it makes sense to hire indigenous individuals. Because you hiring them based on there skills and what experience of culture you can bring.

Nobody comes to video games to feel represented. I want to be a badass wielding swords and casting spells, whether the character looks like me or not. Of course, character customization is a plus, but should never be the priority above gameplay and story.
It's much better to play as an established character from that setting, than literally just myself but apparently in California that cosplays another world for some reason… But that requires being able to empathise with someone who's not "literally me" so it's not surprising these folks don't get it 😅

Capcom slowly began woke in sf6, there's an NPC, i think some kind of a host for character creation, a black dude character with blue hair with almost girly dressing and mannerisms.

They only distribute the games apart from final fantasy with square enix. Capcom and Bandai both distributed all the games from Supermassive Games.

Who honestly feels represented in video games? I don't play games because the characters look like me I play them because they're fun. They're a way to destress and relax. I don't dive into hell because my character looks like me, he doesn't, but because it's fun to fight space bugs and space robots, and to yell, "For Democracy!"
Spreading FREEDOM with bullets and shells has been so much fun with friends! And I typically have no interest in shooting/war games. Did you hear we might be getting space squids?!

It's not video games, but table top/board games as well. There is also a push to stop white, Christian, Republican men from buying their games.
The one example that comes to mind is CMON Blood Rage creater and his interview with Tom Vassle from The Dice Towers. It was a 2 hour attack on those groups I listed.

I try to take this seriously but I just find it funny how the gaming industry and game producers are woke af yet the people who play the games are the exact opposite.

Essentially what happened is a bunch of activists weaponized social media in order to extort companies into complying with them.
It's literally the same playbook the mafia used to use. "Hey, this is a nice gaming company you have here. Be a shame if a bunch of people on social media started telling everyone how racist, sexist, and discriminatory you are, y'know? So why don't you just go ahead and hire me and my friends, and we won't ruin your company's rep."
And then once they get into positions of power, they start actively discriminating, being racist, and sexist against the people they don't like. And try to redefine terms so that what they do is totally acceptable, but would be criminal and evil if done back to them.
The only thing more absurd of late has been the tourists trying to make **Warhammer 40K** woke. JFC, read the room, weirdos.

We use to play games to escape with an Italian Plumber and his brother jumping on the heads of creatures, taking mushrooms and eating plants for super powers with a cartoon style to ultra realism that we need games to reflect real life 110% because the dummies forgot that video games are fictional and those that reflect on reality is based on historical events with a fictional storyline or a fictional city based on real cities.
This "include x and remove x" is a result of having game's graphics becoming so realistic that our brains are struggling to tell the difference what it is experiencing as real world and artificial (same type of thing with the first film of a train where people screamed in fear and ran in the cinema.) Just now we're actively telling ourselves "this is just a game" and our brain is storing the realistic looking games in a different "category" and those who want to be "seen" in games their mind is not able to tell if this emotion is a reflection of reality or artificial worlds so it stores that emotion with the visual it is experiencing making the person reflect and behave in the result how our minds is storing this information. Now instead of playing games for escapism for short times and relax, people want to be included or they feel invisible. If I let my emotions run away from me I would be like this and I would be screaming for Short white men as playable characters in majority of games because I am shorter than the average male and I rarely see short men in video games that is around my height that is not a child or young teen. But I know that games are an escape and does not reflect completely on reality so everything is fictional and the emotions I feel while playing is artificial as if I am watching a movie, so people who think like this their mind is able to store the signals of emotion with the sound and visual together in the "fictional/fake box" along with movies.

RDR2 did the best at being inclusive with out shoving it in your face, everyone loved Charles, Lenny and Sadie. Rockstar didn't make Charles being native, Lenny being an African American, or Sadie being a strong female there whole personality and that's what drew people to them. They where just well written characters.
The gaming industry has not always been woke. It’s been progressive. Here lately progressivism has been twisted and lost its damn mind frankly.
The word "progressive" means 'happening or developing in stages; proceeding step by step'. It's exactly what it is, it's just that it's progressed into it's final stage, which a lot of people were unaware that is where it was heading. There were a lot of people that loved the German socialist party; they had no clue what it's actual intentions were until it was too late. If you had asked them if they thought they were apart of a movement that would lead to fascism, the murder of hundreds of thousands of people, they would have called you insane and hyperbolic. I think the biggest mistake we still make as people is thinking that political movements are working towards something "good". Not sure what in history has made people think that; there's literally examples all throughout human history that point to the opposite of that. I'd be inclined to think it's, ironically, political parties that intentionally mislead people into believing that....

The gaming industry HAS has a fair bit of misogyny in its history, but taking things to the other extreme isn't any better. And really, this isn't even the other extreme. This crap won't appeal to most women. It's pandering to a small percentage of the population, while trying to force "re-education" down the rest of our throats.
It's been "liberal". "Progressive" kind of requires a consistent pushing of boundaries, continual efforts to make change leftward. Games just used to be a matter of free market self-correction. The industry was populated by a bunch of liberal values but nobody was actively trying to fundamentally subvert the whole industry with their own values.

But what some have done with that movement is weaponize it against those they don’t like. It’s really starting to bug me, and I’m one of those discord users who disapproves of what Sweet Baby inc has done, and literally no one I know would call me “far-right”. In fact, the diversity movement is being harmed by this racism, and it turns people against people. That kind of movement can never thrive.

I’m a 32 yr old woman and I have been playing video games since I was 5. My parents played video games since I was born, so I’ve literally grown up with them. And I have never felt any kind of exclusion in all these years of playing. I played COD, Battlefield, other shooter games, racing games, etc. Now games let you pick if you want to play as a guy or girl and I still pick a guy character 😅

Gaming is like this because Twitch is like this!!!!!! Gaming and streaming has been a massive issue for YEARS but not talked about enough. It is exploitive and keeps people hooked. Twitch has all these hashtags that just segregates us all instead of bringing us all together and enjoying a common interest.
As a gamer myself, we aren't afraid to say when a game is focusing too much on real world "problems" and less on the fun that's brought to the game. I already have to worry about this kind of stuff in the real world, don't bring it into the area where I go to escape that world.
One of the greatest things about online gaming with large lobbies is the amount of people you meet. You don't care what colour they are, what religion, which creed they belong to, it doesn't matter! Everyone is there to enjoy the game and (sometimes) insult eachothers mothers 🤷♂️ you meet people from all corners of the world, with different views and takes about topics. Cuz when you're shooting bugs, clashing swords, or going head to head in a death race- none of that other real-world stuff matters! Not religion or race, no one cares! Just play the games, make friends, and put our cultural differences aside. for super earth! ✊️

You would think that those "professional writers" would understand that right? Not just in gaming either. Movies, TV shows...you name it. Unfortunately, all these people see is boxes, and your entire character "story" is predicated on what boxes that character ticks. So you end up with a caricature of a person with pre-designed feelings and motives rather than a well thought out character with actual depth.
Weird that all the stuff they write is failing miserably and costing companies hundreds of millions of dollars. Probably just because the consumers are just a bunch of phobes and ists though, right? Because it couldn't be us!

Nobody is "keeping talent out" of the gaming industry other than DEI. If you can make a killer game or you are a killer coder they are ALL IN ON YOU! The only thing I saw when I was growing up was I collected Yugioh and Naruto cards and boys were shocked by a me a little girl collecting them. Gaming has never cared about if you are from the country or a big city. Gaming is something we all can enjoy.
I personally believe that this madness will implode on its own sooner or later, especially when the profits will fall down monstrously as "normal" people will be sick and tired of this coercion, and won't swallow the pill any more, unfortunately, in the meantime who knows how much damage they've done to the kids/teens, convincing them that being a certain way, does not create any harm to their health...

dude i once played this multiplayer game with a friend whose family migrated to my country and he got annoyed by these things. In fact he laughed most in games where they make fun of society as a whole.

Ever since I saw Dove do that ad, I just couldn't do it, lol. I will never buy anything from them or anything that supports woke in video games. My video games are my comfort zone, and I refuse to let them shove their ideology in my face while I'm trying to game.
I actually stopped buying Dove years ago because they stopped representing me in the only way I actually care about: they stopped carrying products I could actually use without getting hives.

After 30 something years of playing video games, I, a woman born and lived, has never felt under represented in anything. Actually I avoid games that force me to play strong female leads, never play custom female characters, and I despise these fake tough girl characters and the people who think they represent real strength in women.
theyre just narcissists. everything has to be about them. personally, given the option, i as a male tend to pick the female character to play as. if the games good enough, ill play both. never once in my entire life have i though why does the main character not look like an unaccomplished overweight dude? never have i had to put a game down cause i just cant see myself reflected as a kick arse space woman.
@@iris4547 exactly! 👏 There are a few ladies in these games that I have always liked, such as the girls from Resident Evil. Or the ladies from Gears of War. But I still don't feel they represent me at all, they are just well rounded characters who fit well in their roles. I just want an escape when I play my games, and I've found myself going back to my old library cause these newer games are becoming too much.

When learning about philosophy and studying Emmanuel Kant, I came across his idea regarding virtue ethics: take the basic action in an event and apply it to everything else to see if you desire the outcome. For example, the African American lady gamer saying that she feels most comfortable around the same people, well what if whites (what do you know, no concerns about writing this color word) continued to push for the rigid racial structures of the 50s and didn’t slowly change to accept other races during and after the cultural revolution of the 60s. What I’m saying is that whites have voluntarily relinquished positions of power and authority and I know it hasn’t always been perfect, but where in the world has it ever been? I’m a second generation Mexican American from East Los Angeles. I grew up liberal and democratic but as I’m now 40yo, studied hard, kept straight ie law abiding, went to university, and worked and paid heavy taxes as a single person-even during pandemic when a lot of money was given away-but I am hating the woke left and DEI’s affect on society. I’ve been able to do better than my parents because the white overlords gave me a chance with public schools, lunches, student loans that I’ve made payments on, and many other things. This black game developer said that most racist shit but because it’s against whites / white men she isn’t even registering it as racist. That speaks volumes. I’m voting right if that means less crime (big problem today), less woke agenda, and consequences to breaking the law. Sorry for the rant.
