Hey Garrett. It’s a small world. My brother-in-law (Fred Graves) and Jim were very good friends and used to race super modifies at the Oswego Speedway. I used to work on Fred’s pit crew and met Jim many times. Fred went on to be a crew chief in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series and Fred’s son Andy went onto crew for Jeff Gordon and eventually crew chief for Terry LaBonte in NASCAR. I could on further but the coincidence here is very real. Glad I ran across this video not to mention the video was very helpful in expanding my CNC knowledge. Thanks a million for the education and the memory.
I have been trying to import a drawing, image of a Butterfly serving dish and havent had much luck, so I went back and watched this video, I have learned alot. hope I can remember some of it. I think once I learn this stuff i am going to love it. Thanks for all your time. Its really helpful. I will be donating to help you keep doing this kind of thing.
Harold, I'm glad to hear that this video got you one step closer to getting that project cut and done. Bitmaps can be tough sometimes, especially detailed ones like Butterflies so I can understand your frustration.
Nice job with a "real-world" type of project that is easy to relate to. That makes the techniques you're presenting much easier to remember because they apply to things people can see themselves needing to do.
Thanks Garrett You are a great teacher, easy to follow, right to the point and very helpful. I'm looking forward to more classes. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks Garrett, tremendous help with trying to create a part I need. I actually need to make about 80 identical parts for a special remodel project I'm working on. I couldn't have done it without this video and you experience. I am forever thankful. I appreciate your efforts. Thanks again, Rex
Great videos- clear concise and real life process. I'm in the process of building a topper for a oak roll top desk and desire dome carvings to accentuate the topper. Got moved to Texas and the CNC machine lived though the travel. Just needing some refresher courses on Vcarve. My best - Tom
Outstanding video Garrett. Nodes and how to edit them have always been a bit confusing to me. Now, I feel like I fully understand them. All of the tricks you can do with Bitmaps are amazing as well. This video definitely took me to the next level with both these topics. Thank you, thank you!
@@IDCWoodcraft Hey Garrett. My wife is an artist and one of her favorite projects is drawing very detailed mandalas. We are now working on migrating these to vector drawings in V-Carve and being able to cut them out on a 3D router and/or a laser printer. She needs to add her signature to each of these mandalas, so the information from this video will be very helpful to me in doing this.
Garrett makes me think of the kind of teacher i should have had back in the 80's, explains everything so that it's understandable for even the likes of me who have absolutely no experience with this new fangled technology :) Question: is the longmill also compatible with different applications like 3d printing? Many thanks for your great videos!!
Hi Mick. Thank you for that very kind comment! Extremely flattering. Ya; know...I am not sure if the longmill is compatible. I don't see why not. After all, a CNCis a CNCis a CNC.
I agree with you mick 100 percent. Ive watched and read everything in vcarve on n off almost 3 yrs now and ive not learnt near as much from those as I am watching Garretts Videos
I am always learning something new evey time I watcht he tutorial. If I have one little thing to coment on is the options within the vectric program. There are to many options when perhaps one or two options would suffice for me eliminating some confusion. That is just me ,older mind, trying to remember the process.practice practice practice, that is the key.Great job to my further understanding and will watch again.
I noticed in a lot of your videos where you say hold control press a letter press N for nodes etc.... are these instructions listed/posted anywhere or is something we should just know?
VABEARHUNTER, they are posted on the vectric website. Here is the link: docs.vectric.com/docs/V10.0/Aspire/ENU/Help/page/keyboard-shortcuts There are too many to remember though, so my advice is to just pick up the ones you need and refer back to the shortcuts page if you need more in the future.
Hey brother do u have a discount code for vectric.... I have cut2d and didn't know it doesn't have v carve ... I think it was a waste of 160 ... But thats my opinion... Another good video keep it up brother....

Hi there, I watched this video and it was very informative. However, it did not explain how one gets the picture of the item one wants to implant into the software. A rather important first step. Excuse my ignorance, as I am new to this subject.

Hey Let's call it speed learning lol
I just started working on a Christmas present with several signatures and this has been a HUGE time saver.
Larry, I am definitely glad to hear this. I want to see the finished project!!!
Great to see so many ins/outs with the bit mapping. I traced an item with numerous attempts and want to do more, this will HELP
