- Опубліковано 20 тра 2022
- This Vectric Vcarve & Aspire tutorial video shows you how to properly adjust your toolpath run time on your CNC router projects to get it optimized and run time reduced so the project.
In this video, we go thru a welcome sign project, looking at the clock feature in Vectric to see how long a project runs. You will learn about the 'scale factor' function, 'rapid rate' adjustment, depth of cut,, stepover, Z clearance, and how to evaluate your CNC router bit project tool library database settings for each bit you use.
We'll be working with various CNC router bits settings, including ball nose endmill, down cutting endmill, drilling, profile cuts and pocket cuts.

I watched your video "How to Reduce Tool Path Cut Run Time" VERY INFORMATIVE and I took pages of notes. I just purchased a Shard SD120 and NO CNC experience but do a lot of woodworking. Wanted to get into CNC work. Having issue with installing my VCarve software but should have that fixed with them shortly. Was wondering if you have a video for beginners explaining in detail to someone getting started into CNC. Your approach to the segment I watched and how you walked through it is terrific and done very well. But little too early for me at this point. Very great instructor, wish you had a class. Will look on your site and follow.
Phil, glad you liked this video brother! Congrats on jumping into CNC with your new machine. I have a video list that should really help you. Here is the link: bit.ly/3mLHGfI
Just start at the top and work your way down. You will get there brother!
This was really helpful. I always wondered why it took sooo long for items I see others running much faster.
Sirxx99, I'm glad it was helpful brother!
WOW!- Been using Vcarve for about a year on/off. Starting to get into more complicated projects and never liked the time it took. Did not realize every thing you went through, this opened my eyes to a lot. Thanks
Cea, you're so welcome I'm glad it was helpful for you! I get what you mean about the time it takes, it can definitely be a lot depending on what you're working on! Keep up the good work!
Love what you do. It really helps a newby get up to speed with less frustration!
Steve, thank you! I'm glad to help brother. I know that initial frustration is overwhelming, but hang in there and just keep pushing forward. You'll be a pro in no time!
Well I took this lesson and your lesson on merging text, and I went from 5 1/2 hours down to 2 1/2 hours. Amazing!
Dwight, nice one brother! Time is precious my friend, so im glad this helped.
This is awesome, Garrett. I've known from watching some of your other videos that some tweaks could be done and I've been making some. This puts a finer point on all of it and puts it all in one place. I'm going to optimize all my files now! 😀
Michael, right on brother! I'm glad it was helpful and hopefully it will save you some time on your future projects! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for sharing this information. I followed your steps on my project while watching your video. The project time started at 1hr 3 min, after following your advice my final project time was 20 minutes!! The project turn out just as I expected with no errors!
Glad to hear that this info helped you Ebony. That is quite a lot of time saved and a project that turned out well in the end is good news too.
I hope all these videos are paying off for you cause I know you have a lot of time in all these. And so much information for all of us out here watching.
I'd say at this point you're a Professor for all of us.
Thanks my friend
Pete, making these videos and sharing information is what I live for my friend! It's definitely my passion to help make CNCing a little bit easier for everyone! Truly my pleasure!
I always thought making things with a CNC router would be so enjoyable but the learning curve was beyond my comprehension. Thanks for straightening out the curves. I'm going to take the plunge and build a CNC router! Thank you for all your free videos, without them I would never have the knowledge and confidence to start this journey.
From one Garrett to another. Thank you for producing these videos. You have helped me quickly learn Vcarve. Which has helped me get running with my new machine.
Nice to meet you Garrett! Glad to hear that videos like this helped you learn so much about V carve!
One of the best videos. I never knew we could speed up the performance with the Longmill. Thanks!
Dudley, glad this one helped you save some precious time in your day brother!
I just watched this on my tv and wanted to stop in and like and comment.
My comment is this…….every or most every subscriber or viewer should send this gentleman $12 thats basically $1 a month for a PERSONAL CNC COACH for a year.
Where can we find that especially a top notch guy like this?????
You know it’s worth it, I’ve sent my $12+ in and am trying to encourage you to do the same thing.
He’s giving the knowledge away and that’s why he deserves the great karma and appreciation of the $1 a month or $12 a year.
Thanks again dude
Hey Chris, thanks for all the kind words of encouragement. I'm humbled to be able to teach what I love to others! It's truly my passion and I love what I do! Thanks for the continued support brother!
Was up til 4am watching ur videos Garrett. I'm on my Xams Hols from work now so this is what I'm going to be spending a loitta time doing while I learn how to put my CNC together and get the hardware/software aligned properly.. I'm looking forward to getting the body of my CNC.. I have 5 of those bits atm pal. That's not a bad start. I need to get a surfacing bit though. The 4 basic u spoke of cost me 40 euros and one of them is the carving bit.. they're cheap from Sinoprol or a company with a name like that. The are sharp as heck but at that price they won't probably last all that long Garrett..
I will be calling into ur space to get some good bits in the near fiuture once I have learned from these ones first. I don't want to break expensive bits while learning the technical side of the bits and the machine,, I'm learning so much from ur videos pal so thanks so much for all this information G.. Appreciate every minute of ur time teaching us.. Do u do proper online classes? If so where can I find them and I hope they're not too expensive..
Slim, glad you liked this video brother! I am excited for you to get your machine frame and get everything set up.
As for the online classes, not yet! But I have something like that in the works.
Time is precious.
Thank you Garrett, for showing how to save some of it on our own. Atleast as far as CNC machining goes 😉
Great video as always! 🍀
Darko, so very true my friend I couldn't agree more! Thanks!
Every video lesson you offer, I learn so much. Thank you!!
Sled, you are very welcome! Glad to help!
Garrett, Thank you for the step by step to save time and tooling. This was answering the questions that I was asking myself two days ago. You knocked this out of the park for a home run. My CNC arrives this week... so excited can hardly sleep. You Rock...
Keith, right on! You're so welcome, I'm glad to help! I'm excited for you to get your CNC in hand and get to creating! Hang in there I know the anticipation is hard!
Thanks Garrett. Saved me heaps of time working all that out myself.
Greg, you are so welcome my friend.
Thank you!! I have been avoiding some projects due to time, but now I can do some that I have been wanting to get to.
Georgia, you are so welcome. Glad to hear you can make the projects you have been dying to make now!
THANK Garret !!! WOW what a game changer, YJOU ARE AMAZING. Keep up the great work my friend, love what your producing !
Bill, right on brother! Glad this video helped you!
This lesson will save me a lot of time. And the new shop / studio looks great. Thanks again.
Terry, I'm glad it was helpful, I hope it saves you some time on your projects! And thank you, I'm glad the workshop setup is coming together finally!
Thanks for all your great tips and tricks. You explain this stuff in such an easy manner that you just want to continue learning through your videos. Thanks and keep up the great work!
Lucymolinar, you are so welcome my friend.
I also want to say thank you for showing this time project I didn’t know it was possible.
Janet, you're so welcome! Don't worry, I didn't know either at first! But it's saved me a lot of time in the long-run!
First time I’ve seen a good explanation for some of these Vectric functions. Great video Garrett
John, glad it was helpful! I know how steep the Vetric learning curve can be!
Garrett, every time I watch your videos, I learn something, and it improves my skill set. I just reduced time on a wall clock I am working on from 4 hours down to 1:41. Thank you for being so giving.
That is great news Creative HR. 4 hours is a long time for a job!
wow, i sat here for 42 min's. A great learning curve, thanks for the info on software settings and what they do
Joe, thanks for sticking with me! And you're so welcome, I'm glad it was helpful!
Great information, Garrett, as always. It is sure nice to be able to 'apprentice' under your years of cnc experience. I always find other gold nuggets in your videos different from your main points. However, your main points are what keeps attracting me to your videos - which I learn alot. Thank you for your work and effort.
Squib, you're so welcome! I'm glad the videos have been helpful! I'm glad to be a part of your CNC journey and help make the learning curve a little easier!
Garrett. YOU are the best. You make things so simple in your explanations. This is exactly what 've been looking for. Your knowlege and ability to explain things is so clear. I love to watch your videos and learn from you. This will incease my production by tons. Thanks again for being so willing to help others.
SawdustersCreations, wow thank you for all the kind words. I'm truly humbled and glad to be a part of your cnc journey my friend. Keep up the excellent work over there brother!
Click and change scale factor to 1 and cuts estimated time in half ! Amazing ! 🎉 Love it ! Thanks Garrett invaluable information 👌🏽
Cjtoledor, you are so welcome my friend!
thanks a lot Garret your videos have helped me stay with this when i was about to give up on trying to learn how to run my cnc machine
Lyndon, you are so welcome my friend. Never give up, even if the going gets tough. You have to always remember the amazing CNC projects that you can make at the end of the day.
A much needed video! Right on Garrett!
The Bull Rider, thanks brother! Glad you enjoyed it!
YOUR HEAD LINE TODAY IS (Stop Wasting Hours Of UA-cam Searching) never heard a truer comment what a great video thank you
Steven, I'm glad it was helpful brother! Hopefully it will save you some time on future projects!
I’ve watched this video a couple of times now, very helpful tips and has given me a good overall understanding of what’s going on. Thanks for sharing my man

As usual another very helpful video. Great job Gman.
Roger, thanks again my friend!
your videos are so helpful. I am a beginner but have been totally understanding you. Great work, much appreciated
JT, glad you liked this one brother!
So many hidden gem channels like this that don't come to light in your feed for months or even years, if ever. Glad this one came up today. Subbed.
Garry, UA-cam does that to us all. Glad you found this one my friend.
This was so helpful, now Vectric actually gives me an accurate idea how long the cut will actually take, also allowed me to increase a lot of my feeds / speeds / pass depths after careful review of manufacturer recommendations.
Mike, im happy to hear it brother. Sometimes those cut estimations can be so inaccurate.
I returned to this video to help me reduce the overall run time on my production runs and it works!
You mentioned a few times about increasing the feed rates on the beefier CNC machines. It would be cool to have a beefy CNC machine selection box in the IDC Woodcraft feeds and speeds app. Then have it automatically increase the feeds and speeds settings. This would be very helpful to me since I am going to be running both a beefier and more light weight CNC machines.
Dion, glad this one helped brother! I will keep that in mind for the app! Thanks for the feedback on that one. I appreciate it.
I’ve learned some of these tips by trial and error over a year and a half. This video wasn’t around when I started with my LongMill. If it was I would have learned these steps long ago!
This is a Great service you are supplying Garrett. Thank you!
John, I completely understand that one. Unfortunately I've learned a lot by trial and error too brother! Glad we can save some frustration for our CNC brother and sisters! Keep up the good work my friend!
Had my machine for a couple months now, this video is extremely helpful, some of my cut times are crazy long.
Michael, glad it was helpful for you! Hopefully those cut times won't be too crazy anymore!
Thanks buddy you saved what little hair i have left
Jerod, glad you enjoyed it and I will do my best to help you keep your hair!
Nice video as always Garrett. Thanks.
Glad it helped you Durand.
Thank you!!!!!! Been searching for a video to explain this!
Jennifer, you are so welcome!
Love your videos. You explain everything and make it easy to understand.
I'm glad they have been helpful for you so far my friend! Happy cncing!
this has explained how to cut my time in half ( fantastic job) i would like to engrave barrow staves just don't know how to set up vcarve desktop to engrave on a stave when i have a issue about vectric i always turn to your web site and you are always spot on thanks
William, I am happy to hear this video helped you out with your cut time!
I'm just binge watching your videos Garrett! I've applied what I learned in this video to my grand kids room signs that are being cut out all in one go. 12 signs in total. Time went from 12 hours to 4 hours 21 minutes! Thank you!!
Frank, that's awesome! Wow, 12 grandkids! If you have that many signs to be making, efficiency is your bestfriend! Keep up the good work!
Very good video I agree that the larger pocket area is where the biggest gain is. Thanks again
Donald, you bet brother!
So glad this video came up in my feed!!! I’m four and a half weeks in, and there’s no time like the present to implement good habits! Garrett, THANK YOU for all of the knowledge and experience you’re sharing … it’s invaluable 🙏🏽
b-radg916, you're so welcome and I'm glad it did too! You're absolutely right, there's no better time than now to start with good habits it will save you a lot of time in the long run!
@@IDCWoodcraft: It will be a battle at times with my partner, who wants this thing to be churning pieces out yesterday, but if I can save three hours by spending one, I’m definitely doing it!!
Appreciate the video bro. Im new to CAD and your tutorial has may made it a lot easier to understand and how to fine tune time on your project. Thanks. Currently learning of Freecad and Vcarve Pro.
Oryx, glad you liked the video brother!
Lot of good info in this video. Thanks. Have to get the new 1/4 inch drill bit for some of my projects. Will be ordering soon.
Herbert, thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! I'm excited for you to get your 1/4 bit and to see what you make with it. Any ideas?
Ordered my machine, spindle, software and bits from you. Thank you for making these videos. Still have a lot to learn but will spend a lot of time on your videos to learn.
Timothy, congrats on ordering your machine and other tools brother! Thanks for supporting me and what I do brother! I'm looking forward to seeing what you create!
Thank you for the detail explanation. I know it takes a lot of time to go back and add in the details with the arrows showing where you are going. Also sharing the screen instead of just seeing it in the background makes it a lot easier to follow.
CW, you are so welcome my friend!
Wow! Thank You so much for making this material available. I have subscribed and am bookmarking your website. This is awesome!!
Travis, welcome aboard! You're so welcome my friend, I'm glad to be a part of your CNC journey and hopefully make things a little easier!
