- Since I was a kid, I separate people based on what mode of SimCity 2000 they're operating on. Hard Mode was a specter for me. Something I was never able to successfully navigate. I moved on because I got older and 9/11 and stuff, but recently I was like - HEY! SIMCITY 2000! HARD MODE! It's time.
So I purchased the game and learned the esoteric secrets of SimCity 2000. Now I can beat the game in Hard Mode instinctively, which is a cool but entirely useless skill
Today I've decided to share that entirely useless skill with you.
This is just a play through that illustrates how to start with a $10,000 loan and yet still navigate the situation so you can pay off the loan, be prepared for any disaster that comes your way, and make a huge profit to become the diabolical social engineer you were meant to become.
I may do one of these things where I talk my way through but who knows I'm kinda busy and this was ridiculous enough as is.
Oh! And there's a nuclear power plant meltdown somewhere in there.

In my strategy, the city is free and independent in the year 1933
EM gameplay freedom & independence are overrated tho 🤷♂️

@@andrejrockshox it is like this ... in my strategy, you will need 704 squares of flat terrain (32x22), if possible near the water.
build a 10x10 square with the free center (4x4) where the power plant will be placed, around the power plant place high density industry. Circulate everything with a road, put at least one water pump right next to the river.
Then build a square "9x9" with the free center (3x3) where a hospital or police station will be built LATER, around the central space place high density industry. Repeat this but add now high density residence and another one with high density commerce.
Keep building in this way, until you have little money left. Over the years just put fire brigade, hospital, school and large parks in the centers of 9x9 squares and make new lakes to place water pumps, the main problem will be water! do not build more than 704 squares (32x22), make a port and make at least one link between a neighboring city.
Now let the city grow and only take care of places that are without water. In 1935 it will be possible to pay the debt.
The city will not be beautiful, but it will be sustainable, when possible, remove the power plant and place another one far from the city, place a large park in the place, and continue doing commerce, industry and high-density houses, always leaving the center 3x3 free for when need to put stadiums, hospitals and everything the city needs at the moment. Just make low density houses where you will demolish in the future to put Arcologys, low density commerce inside airport and low density industry where in the corners of the map, when you start earning a lot of money go up the main rate to 8, invest in school to have more technology and less crime and hospital to have more longevity for city sims, gradually raise rates, wait for the economy to stabilize and rise again to infinity, at that point you have already won the game!
