I really like the Honda CB750 Hornet, but I own a 2022 MT-07 that always makes me smile :)
It's a natural progression. The MT07 has been the king of the middleweight naked bike market for seemingly since it was introduced. I think Honda went with the Hornet with the rider aids to target both beginner and experienced riders at once. In hopes to dethrone the MT07. Yet I'd bet the MT07 is still selling out in dealers, while the Hornet doesn't come close in sales.

States as the Hornet is not sold in the USA.
I'd love to have the MT-07. Once I pay it off I'll buy the turbo kit for it!! If I want more performance.

YZ I would say. Ive not ridden the MT 07 but a mate has one and my yz wins every time. My DRZ also wins for a short amount of time. Much lighter

Mt07 it's faster st the top at the bottom depends on rider hability
The Honda max speed is limited electronically. Traction control can make the difference between a bad fall and a big scare. Having said that, I prefer the MT-07
It's all about gearing as far as top speed.
MCN Mainly rated the mt07 higher on handling because it had better tyres, I bought the Hornet changed the tyres job done! The Hornet destroys the MT 07 in every other category especially speed 0-100MPH way faster than the mt07.
I have always liked the MT07 but for 2024 it should at least have a slipper clutch like the R7 has!
😮 yup YAMAHA for me 03, 07 & 09 .. ...all in CYAN..... unfortunately here in India I just have to watch videos and scratch my itch 😂😅😊 seriously planning to come overseas just to ride n get some hands on dirt street n track .... you guys are blessed with shops dealerships n everything imaginable under the sun .... glad you love the torque... main difference I think comes down to looks, power delivery (no computers 4 me cables fine ) and handling which YAMAHA scores above all .
Whatever you say about this motorcycle, you should still test it personally.
Another surprising contender is the GSX-8S. What do you think about those?

I bought one and it's one of my favorite bikes so far. Had an MT-07 and an SV650, the GSX-8S doesn't make me miss them one bit. Throttle is crazy smooth, has plenty of torque, very smooth confident shifts, and it's surprisingly comfortable for longer rides due to the extra seat height. It's an very well-balanced bike and very fun, I take it on back roads, highway, etc. Won't be trading it in anytime soon and have a lot of plans for integrated tail light, exhaust, intake, tune, and more. :)

I recently went to a dealership and they let me fire up a 2022 Triumph Street Triple, they let it warm up and then let me sit on it and rev it a bit. I found even in the sportier modes, the throttle felt very laggy and I reckon that's from it being ride-by-wire. My 2014 MT07 has instant throttle response, some people don't like that cause they say its jerky or "bucky", but with a bit of clutch finesse you can smooth it out yourself, I personally love the jerky throttle, it has personality! I love how the MT07 throws me back when I hit it from off throttle to on throttle.
💯 Same here! I love the cable throttle the best. I like instant snap and despise the slight delay on ride by wire throttles. One of the reasons I sold MT-09 for a MT-07 was because I hated the ride by wire throttle on the MT-09. The chassis on this MT-07 is so good and comfy, I feel it is better than the Hornet's chassis.

its about time yamaha revise the position of the dash and the throw an usd fork with a little stiffer suspension, if tht happens i see no other bike thats gonna come close to the mt07
I'd pick the Hornet any day if it were available in the US. After watching every video I could find on these bikes that MCN video was the only one I could find that preferred the MT07's handling over the Hornet. The rest of that video just commented on the Hornets better price, MUCH better/stronger engine performance, MUCH better/stronger brakes, and even said the Hornet was more fun! Unfortunately if the US Hornet mirrors the Transalp it will likely be de-tuned to 83hp (still more than the MT07) and come standard with a quick-shifter that is an extra cost option in Europe.
I really want to try out that new royal enfield super meteor 650... I loved the look of the meteor 350, but didn't want such a small engine... Now, that it has a 650 in it... I'm definitely interested.
I just picked up a z900 and man is that bike better than the mt09 i had. Haven't tried the new mt09 but the first and second gen mt09's suck compared to the z900.
We had a saying back in the 80s.. honda honda made of tin ride em out push em in lol.. sorry honda but every honda I ever owned had problems constant tinkering to keep them running. Never had any issues with yamaha
Why can't any of these style bikes come with a lower seat height?? I hate missing out on these CB750s and MT-07s just because I'm short!
I like the engine braking on my FZ-07 you don't need Electronic controls so much on a bike that is only 74 HP
💯 I never used rider aides for street riding, even on the super naked Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory I had.
@@CycleCruza The more rider aids the better for us that ride track frequently. If people ride bikes in a straight line there is no need for any of them even brakes are not that important:)
@@CycleCruza in 2016 ABS was on Option on the Yamaha FZ-07 .. I got my 2016 in 2017 and with out ABS was $400.00 less .. and the 2016 model was $400 less than the 2017 .. so basically I saved $800.00 by buying a 2016 model with out ABS . They always sold the MT-07 in Europe with ABS and I think since they sold the MT-07 in the USA all MT-07's have ABS .
After I hit a Deer I paid $208.00 each for new forks and I paid $650.00 for an Ohlin Cartridge kit
No matter how good the Honda will be, I just can’t see it actually holding against the mt-07. Honda just lacks the engine personality.
New Hornet is ugly. Prefer neo-retro.

Coming from a 55HP inline 4cylinder CB400SF.

To the topic of top speed ... well it comes down to gearing. The way the have the new Hornet geared, it might run out of RPMs at 127mph.
In my head Hornet is supposed to be a (much) detuned Moto2 inline 4 without fairing - the one that's in my garage ;).
Of this generation of Honda's I'd probably get the Transalp.
The top speed difference between the two bikes are negligible and really shouldn't be a determining factor for getting either bike. The Translap looms nice but I prefer the cable throttle on the Tenere.
@@CycleCruza Tenere is surprisingly tall, tried climbing up on it and it felt Africa Twin tall to me. Reg. the throttle ... I'd try it first. Because as someone in Westworld said ... If you can't tell the difference, does it even matter? Might not be as bad as die hard cable may paint it to be. Remember Honda vs Yamaha when they were moving over to fuel injection - I remember Yamaha's being described as on/off throttle, Honda's less so.
mt07 pass. seat is far better than a hump sticking up to give ya 6 cm higher to climb over.
compare tft features ? need more leg room so need ralley seat and lower pegs.

I honestly like both of them, honda just wants in on some of that middle class bike money 😂. But the FZ/MT 07 engine is trusted, getting a gen 1 motorcycle could be sketchy like you said but it is honda so 🤷♂️ only time will tell!
If I would ever trust a gen 1 bike it would be a Honda tho. However, the 2008 Honda CBR1000RR (1st year) burned through oil and had some issues.
The New Honda Hornet just looks so generic. They should have made the new Hornet look more like the current cbr1000r black edition, that is a really good looking bike.

I will look at the Honda Transalp and look at the Yamaha Tenere 700
You can't go wrong with either bike but the engine on the Tenere is tried and true.
Transalp for the road Tenere for the dirt. The Transalp has no ground clearance.
Both awesome bikes but Trans is far smoother on road.

Mt07 is yamahas biggest selling bike in Europe, mostly bcs its cheap and most ppl who commute on a bike,do so bcs they can't afford a car ..
While I’m sure it’s a decent bike, when I hear CB 750, I think 4-cylinder. It just seems like Honda has copied Yamaha’s homework instead of doing it’s own thing. I’ll check it out when I see one in the local dealer, but I don’t think I’ll be all that interested.
You might think 4-cylinder, but it's a 750cc parallel-twin, which is a trip cause the CB400 Super Four is a 400cc 4-cylinder.
Wtf is he talking about, he hasn’t even tried it! I own the Hornet and I have tried the Hornet and 07 back to back and the Hornet has a lot more power and quality and suspension over the Yamaha. The only thing it loses on is looks. It’s just boring looking.

Not wild about the looks of the Hornet, its better looking than the KTM, in my opinion. Cant find a MT07 where I live, they sell that fast. The obly reasin I would get the Hornet would be availability. Theres a waiting list for the MT07.
Yeah I'm not a fan of the looks of the KTM, the Honda does look better. However, looks are subjective. The biggest reason to get the MT-07 is because it still has the old skool cable throttle and clutch. I just don't like the artificial feel of ride by wire throttles, however, some are better than others. I will bet that Yamaha will eventually change to a ride by wire throttle, so enjoy the cable throttle on the new MT-07 while you still can. PS. I hated the ride by wire throttle on the MT-09!!
This video makes no sense, how can the Honda be better in almost every single way but the Yamaha is the winner. You’re better off just saying I own the MT-07 so it’s better.
MT MT-07 only does about 119 MPH
A Yamaha MT-07 is officially listed with a top speed of 133 MPH (Google it). However, I have yet to do a top speed run on my bike. However, the top speed difference between the two bikes negligible and should not a determine factor when deciding between the two bikes. The realty is both are great grunty street bikes. I just prefer the cable throttle on the MT-07 more.
The Honda Hornet just looks so much better than the Mt’s and plus you can reduce the weight with a much lighter aftermarket exhaust.
A bike's beauty is subjective, it is hard to get everybody to agree on the looks of the bike. I think the Hornet looks rather generic. I think they should have made it look more like the current cbr1000r black edition, that is a good looking naked bike.
