Funny to think this episode has the one and only scene with both Bronn and Cersei. Story is that they use to date way back and had a bad breakup. Then both cast here and had to be kept separate.

Reminder that the greatest thing Netflix ever produced wasn't Stranger Things, The Crown, or Queen's Gambit, it's "Dark". The highest quality of TV you'll ever find. One of the most complicated, beautiful, darkest, most perfectly executed things you'll ever watch. So I would be very happy if You Do Dark reactions next

Charles Dance, the actor who played Tywin, felt really terrible about how he spoke to Peter Dinklage, Tyrian, and would apologize for the way he spoke his lines.

In the books, Tyrion did lose his nose after the battle. The problem is that that would have taken cgi to make Tyrion look like that and it would have been more expensive. So they just gave him a big scar. Cersei mentioning him losing his nose is a reference to the books.

Idk, I’ve seen some insane prosthetic work, and feel like they were just kind of lazy about it.
It’s a fairly significant plot point so it felt like a cop out to just not have to do prosthetic makeup for the character. But the mutilation of tyrions face is a major turning point for him in the book.
But, the Tyrion in the books is a RADICALLY different character to show Tyrion, so I guess it also makes sense that events are going to happen to him differently, having different character impacts.

@@moviebad109 I heard that Tyrion is not good looking in the books, but Peter Dinklage is quite handsome, even Margaery mentions that in a scene with Sansa, maybe they just didn't want to change that.

That’s the closest to having Bronn and Cersei in the same scene you’ll ever see. Their actors, Jerome Flynn and Lena Hedley, use to date ~10 years before the start of the show. They had an ugly break up and when one learned of the other being in GoT, both initially quit because they cannot be in the same room. Both had it written in each of their contracts to not be in the same scene together. That was Flynn’s body double in that take.

    • @Sandra071285
      @Sandra071285 2 роки тому +1

Think of Tyrion in the previous season. He was confident and sure of himself. He was going around wheeling and dealing, one upping Pycelle, Slynt and everyone else. How many times do we say "damn Tyrion's smart", "Tyrion is making moves". Compare all that to the scene right here. What we see is a pathetically feeble man who gets chewed up and spat out. I'm not even talking about the content of the conversation, Tywin's not the first father to say no to inheritance. I'm talking about the tone, the cadence, the overall aura. It's the difference between presumptive power and innate power. Tyrion was playing the role of authority. Tywin is authority.

Very good psycho-analysis! Tyrion is indeed a master player but reverts back to the powerless disgruntled child when his father is around. When Tywin showed the tiniest sliver of respect/admiration; Tyrion would be 'himself' again. Smart, effective, confident in knowing he can accomplish something that would please father...until his use served Tywin's purpose and he was dismissed again. Tywin doesn't respect any of his children but he has extra contempt towards Tyrion.

I admire your passionate defence of Tyrion and there is a lot of discussion in the comments about his relationship with his father. There are other reasons why Tywin says what he says. Listen to what he says: "Men's laws give you the right to bear my name and display my sigil, since I cannot prove that you are not my son..." Tywin has doubts that he is Tyrion's sire. The reasons are complex and are not explored in show. There are themes of multiple identities, and also of unrequited love running through the books, which are again barely acknowledged in the show. Think of Arya as 'Arry (and much more in the books), Jon Snow's new identity with the free folk, even Jaqen H'gar and his different faces. People are not who they seem, and there's a lot more of this in the books. Lord Tywin looks at his two older children, looks at the rest of his family, the Lannister clan, then looks at Tyrion, and cannot bring himself to fully believe that the dwarf is his issue. Remember Ned and the book about the histories of the great houses of Westeros. There are other reasons as well which put doubts in his mind as well. So, my point is, Tywin's fury and frustration has some logic to it, right or wrong. Superb reaction as always.

This is what happened in Harrenhal.
When Tywin decides to abandon Harrenhal, he leaves The Mountain in charge of a very small Lannister force there. Soon the remaining Lannisters are attacked by the Tullys lead by Edmure Tully, Robb's uncle. The Tullys are trying to reclaim their homeland the Riverlands, where Harrenhal is. The much smaller Lannister force is defeated, but The Mountain manages to retreat back to the Westerlands, which is the stronghold of House Lannister. But before he leaves he slaughters all the Northern and Tully prisoners. That's the dead bodies Robb finds here.

The show sadly did not have the money to film the battle between the Night's Watch and the army of the dead at the fist of the First Men. But it was a major battle and hundreds died.
In Stannis' defense, he was very depressed and apathetic after his defeat at the Blackwater.

In the east the wall leads to the narrow sea by eastwatch. In theory you can go around it by boat. In the west the wall ends in a Canyon that is difficult to pass. That's by the shadow tower. Halfhand is the Shadow towers Commander. That's why they only meet up with the others later. There actually used to be a bridge you could cross there but again it was really dangerous. Most of them rather tried to climb the wall then cross the bridge. Again with a ship you could also go around it. And you have to consider in the winter the water might be frozen so you could just walk around the wall

Personally, the person who is most "King-like" person in the show who actively claims the throne is Stannis. Daenarys is a good person sure but a good ruler and a good person are two different things. A King who values to death his vows, isn't insane, and is dutiful are good qualities to have for their position and about the most your gonna get out of desirable traits pertaining to morality for the position. If that makes sense.

Your reaction to the Tywin scene is quite exactly like mine… Like that’s such bullshit. You don’t “demand a garland of roses”, Tywin? That’s really nice, but you and all the other folks sure had your lovely little parade in the throne room, where all of you were patting each other on the back, giving credit for all sorts of deeds… You literally *pranced* in on the back of a pony. While Tyrion, the man without whom all would’ve been lost, was lying in bandages. And now you keep treating him like vermin, while you’re again respected as the Hand of the King. Tywin is so blinded by his prejudice, he simply refuses to see Tyrion for who he is: a very intelligent and capable man he should be proud of. It’s almost even worse that on some level, Tywin clearly knows it… He trusted Tyrion to be the Hand of the King in his absence. So he can treat him like his son when it’s convenient for him… And as soon as Tyrion is no longer “needed”, he’s discarded.
You’re also on point about the dinner conversation between the Lannisters and the Tyrells. A lot is being said between the lines, concealed in courtesy… Margaery is also flaunting the power of Highgarden.

Melisandre is a strange character, yes. She has ulterior motives but its too soon to know about them. I would say they aren't exactly bad or demonic but you'll judge that. Her powers are very ambiguous, even in the books, but its reasonable to think that her being close to the battle could've allowed her to predict the wildfire. Her visions aren't a matter of skill, it feels more like a greater will answering to pleas and showing X or Y depending on the circumstances. Weird. But i would say she's definitely not evil, thats reserved to basic af characters like The Mountain lol
I would also say she's worse in the show than in the books, where she's more reasonable, honest and less manipulative. In the books she's more like an ally to Stannis than a secret manipulative councilor (and Stannis himself is far more grey and likeable. The thing about Stannis is that the producers hated him so they took away some of his virtues while maintaing some of the characters dinamics, so its harder to understand why Davos would follow him).

According to some theories, king aerys forced himself on tywin's wife. And tywin got to know about it. According to him, tyrion is aerys bastard. And Tywin raised him knowing that. May be that's why he always looked for an opportunity to get back at the mad king
