Remember what Tyrion told Jon in the very first episode? "All dwarves are bastards in their fathers' eyes." Tyrion said that with deep personal experience. Tywin does look at him as a bastard, or little better than one. And as Winterfell could never go to Ned's bastard Jon, Casterly Rock would never go to Tywin's dwarf Tyrion.
This is what happened in Harrenhal. When Tywin decides to abandon Harrenhal, he leaves The Mountain in charge of a very small Lannister force there. Soon the remaining Lannisters are attacked by the Tullys lead by Edmure Tully, Robb's uncle. The Tullys are trying to reclaim their homeland the Riverlands, where Harrenhal is located. The much smaller Lannister force is defeated, but The Mountain manages to retreat back to the Westerlands, which is the stronghold of House Lannister. But before he leaves he slaughters all the Northern and Tully prisoners. That's the dead bodies Robb finds here.
Think of Tyrion in the previous season. He was confident and sure of himself. He was going around wheeling and dealing, one upping Pycelle, Slynt and everyone else. How many times did you say "I love Tyrion he's so smart", "Tyrion's making moves", etc. Compare all that to the scene right here. What we see is a pathetically feeble man who gets chewed up and spat out. Not even talking about the content of the conversation, Tywin's not the first father to say no to inheritance. I'm talking about the tone, the overall aura. It's the difference between presumptive power and innate power. Tyrion was playing the role of authority. Tywin is authority.
"Jugglers and singers require applause. You are a Lannister." Charles Dance delivers that line with such poise and such contempt it almost makes me laugh lol. He's too good.

That Tywin and tryion scene for me is the harshest maybe in the whole series. Props to tryion for being able to take that and not just lose it on everyone. One thing good about Jamie he wasn’t ever dumb enough to blame him for moms death or hating him just for being a dwarf.
So Cersei was teached by her father to hate and despise her brother, and then she teached her son to despise his uncle, his own people and become an absolute tyrant without any rule, any moral principles. "The truth is what you want it to be".
A nice conversation between Ser Barristan and Daenerys from the books. Daenerys: And my father? Was there some woman he loved better than his queen? Barristan: Not ... not loved. Mayhaps wanted is a better word, but ... it was only kitchen gossip, the whispers of washerwomen and stableboys ... Daenerys: I want to know. I never knew my father. I want to know everything about him. The good and ... the rest. Barristan: As you command. Prince Aerys ... as a youth, he was taken with a certain lady of Casterly Rock, a cousin of Tywin Lannister. When she and Tywin wed, your father drank too much wine at the wedding feast and was heard to say that it was a great pity that the lord's right to the first night had been abolished. A drunken jape, no more, but Tywin Lannister was not a man to forget such words, or the ... the liberties your father took during the bedding. Aerys was kind of a man who gets any woman he likes. Tywin still continued to be Aerys' Hand. But later on they fell apart due to some reasons and Tywin resigned from the post of Hand of the King and went back to Casterly Rock.
I don't think Stannis is being manipulated by her. I think he knows he's playing with fire but he doesn't care because he wants to be king. Stannis grew on me this season. He has obvious problems but there's some Ned Stark in him that I like.
He’s worried sir barriston knows about him being a spy at first. Not to mention having someone that famous to be her best protecter instead of him though yes should be happy for more good help. So mainly the first thing.
There are two changes from the book to the show in the beginning of this episode (more, really, but two character defining changes) 1. Sam totally sends the ravens and gets word back to castle black about the attack from the white walkers, i have no idea why they wanted to make him less competent And 2 Jon's story is WAY better in the books. I can't get into it bc book spoilers (and you should at the very least listen to the audiobooks after this series bc not only are they imo better in every way but the changes the show made will just. Make you mad afterward and that's fun lmao
Not sure if this is true? Sam was writing letters during the fist of the first men battle in the book, but in the chaos he forgot to attach the letters to the ravens before releasing them. At least that is what I find googling it.

Strong premiere. I missed some of the characters but I get that its super hard to focus on everyone. Poor Tyrion dealing with his dumb rude father. Still worried for Shae. It's weird that we haven't seen so many key relationships in forever tho like jaimie/cersei and any of the starks. I feel bad that casual viewers had to wait so long to see them together.
