Congrats! We are thinking about refreshing ours and fixing a couple of mechanical issues that it has. My brother-in-law loves the truck and asks to drive it all the time. Keep me posted on your ownership experience.
@@GogoMotoring ya I would Definitely put work in to your truck for a 97 that's SUPER CLEAN and worth every penny you put in to it. A friend of mine who does car and truck sales said that cars will fall in a few years hard and regardless of brand will be cheaper than dirt while truck of any year, make or model will sky rocket. His example was take a 2019 Honda Civic and a late 90s or 2000s truck and the truck will be worth more regardless of miles on it. Due to the truck market is going up especially for smaller trucks. Why have a small car? When you can have a small truck and go almost anywhere off road and take your family with you while have all your stuff in the back and towing a small travel trailer or boat or something... I've always loveeeeed Mercedes Benz they have always been my favorite cars ever especially the older 80s Turbo Diesel ones. But I've always loved trucks for the reasons above. Sooo I decided to make both and I'm ALMOST DONE. Just need a drive shaft and a few other small things like belts and hoses. So I built a Mercedes Turbo Diesel truck. I took a 99 Dodge ram 1500 and put a Mercedes OM 617 5 cylinder turbo diesel engine in it. Will it be a super fast truck? No. Will it handle like a Mercedes? Not quite but I do plan to do some performance mods to the suspension however will it be reliable, fuel efficient, able to go anywhere and pull almost anywhere and fun? HELL YES! sorry for the rant I'm a truck lover lol. Anyway keep your truck and definitely keep up the good work on it. 😎
These are very special trucks! I have a 2000 SLS Highrider that I daily and use as an off road camper. Very robust and dependable. The rear speakers on your C pillars are a neat feature that did not carry onto the later models. Fun fact: these trucks are only an inch wider than a Corolla from this era!
Thank you, brother! And thanks for providing additional information about the truck. Thinking about doing some work on this truck to bring it back to a good condition. May time it when my son approaches driving age as he has already claimed the truck as his high school car. I offered him one of my BMWs, but he wants the Sonoma.
I've got an 02 Sonoma 4 door SLS and an 96 Sonoma highrider ext. Cab both 6 cyl. 4X4's . Love there size and drivabilty I do and can take them anywhere I trust them.
Nice! They are really good and useful trucks. The truck bed is big as well. I noticed on the newer midsize/compact trucks that the truck bed is very short, which kind of defeats the purpose of a truck in the first place. Keep enjoying your ride!
I just got a clean 01 and i love it! I plan to keep it forever! They really are worth it.

Nice, I have a Highrider too! It keeps right up with the newer trucks on the trails. Great adventure rigs.
There has not been another midsized truck since 2003 Sonoma/ S-10 . The ones they have now do these older trucks no justice.
I agree 100%. A lot of the midsized trucks don't have a huge bed, making them less practical than the Sonoma.
