Garçonnière Paris: miniature home as bachelor pad in Pigalle

- Jean-Malo’s "garçonnière" (bachelor pad) is a full-sized home (on a miniature scale) in the center of Paris (Pigalle).
When he first bought the property, it was being used to store flowers for a local shop. He turned it into a cozy, custom home for one: he has a mini dishwasher, 2-burner stove, microwave oven (that you need a “phD to operate”), and a bed that “just fits” (he cut the end of it had a mattress made to measure).

The quietness with no attached neighbors is priceless.
Tell me about it, I've just put this on to distract me from my dick head neighbour who's a gamer30yr old) & never shuts his child like over excited mouth& the walls are thin, , It's time to move(for his safety?!) on again!! want this place so badly 😒
Im sure it has a price and a steep one also.

I love the entry patio. I could live in this place, but would turn it into a more cozy home. Darling building.
Rebecca Treeseed agreeable !
The entry patio is actually a shared courtyard for the entire building, typically
Any typically that shared courtyard is where the trashcans go, at least it was in our apartment in Paris.
People keep commenting how plain it is. But he said it's just a place to sleep. His priorities are location and access to entertainment outside his house. And it's a perfect blank canvas for the next person.
Exactly. I couldn't live there, but for someone who is rarely home, it's fine and a great investment. Location is awesome.
Oh yes, he not only made his money all-ready but will make much more whenever he sells it. $$$$$$
I'd live here for the location
I am in love with this tiny home if you will.
I love it.
I would love to live there. 😍😊🤗
I love it. I could even imagine having a significant other there. My hubby and I would love this, especially the seclusion of the courtyard.
What a pleasant gentleman! As small as the place is, it seems palatial. Simply beautiful.
What's gorgeous, magical place! Impossible to believe this is in the heart of Paris! How fortunate he is to have found this-no loud neighbors to share walls with or stomp on the floors above him. I would be in heaven living there! That tiny dishwasher just about killed me-at that point isn't it easier to just wash up in the sink?
My bet is that he realised how high-maintenance the sink's zinc is and gave up using it haha. He should have gone with stainless steel, even if it's a tad less romantic.
No, not really. It often uses more water and then you need somewhere for the dishes to sit and drain. The tiny dishwasher to handle a plate, a cup, a bowl and a wine glass is perfect.
He wasn’t joking when he referred to it as a doll house. That is the smallest washing machine I’ve ever seen. Very cute & cozy space.
The gentleman's house may be small but it is filled with charm and certainly organized. Isn't that what a home should be. I like that Jean-Malo's priorities are
about "having a place downtown to enjoy life" I was in Paris a few years ago and I get that. There is still room for entertaining--good friends and engaging
conversation, a couple bottles of French wine along with a charcuterie board and you've got it made. Great video, Kirsten. Thanks!
Oh, I could live there, easily. Only change I would make would be to add drawers in the steps leading upstairs, for added storage. :)
What a cute, inventive tiny dude house. It has everything. Could fit a wider sofa with back cushions though.
My thoughts exactly.
A sofa bed 😁.
I tiny dining set with two chairs seems OK. The round foldable ones.
Why didn't he ask you before he moved in?
Small, but quite livable. I dislike the "on wheels" houses most of the time, I lived my childhood "on wheels" and rather like something a little more permanent, so this house is a rare jewel to me.
Absolutely agree.I love it!
This is so cute! He's got everything in that kitchen, even a washing machine! It's a place to sleep, with his own bathroom, someplace to brew some coffee or make an omelet, plus it's in the middle of Paris! He's snug as a bug in there!
this is lovely. absolute perfection for a city like Paris, where you don't need to stay home much
Honestly at the 5:16 Mark when he used his hands to grab the side of the stairs.
I was waiting for him to lift up the stairs an reveal a hidden passage with another set of stairs.
Descending into a secret basement room. If I had that apartment I would so do that.
Perhaps he has an entire underworld there, and decided to keep the secret at the last moment...
@@ixlnxs coudnt agree more. Notice his nervous laugh when he said it needed to be "unscrewed".. definitely suspicious business going on behind it
@@Lgg130 Well, I wouldn't say "definitely"....
@@Lgg130 you guys are overthinking $hit lmao. He doesn't have a secret underground basement that he hides things in xD.
@@ixlnxs
Perhaps it is an entryway to the inner-earth civilizations.
This is just the kind of place I need at my time of life. Cosy, low maintainance, with plenty of life around you. Perfect for the single woman with grown children and grandchildren. I wish...(Closes eyes, crosses fingers and wishes really hard.)
LoriCiani yep! Me too
Loser
@@kaogoogle1031 - sorry to hear that. I hope things improve for you.
@@gaycha6589 why sorry ?
okay I feel better that he said he needed a PhD to run the oven. My french oven has reduced me to tears a few times because I couldn't figure out how to get it to do what I wanted. The preset settings drive me crazy.
Charming gentleman and tiny home! Perfection. Love it.
I lived in an Airbnb apartment, $42 a day, in Saint-Ouen minutes north of Paris for three months. The building had a small space like this in the courtyard and it was being renovated. The difference was that it was one level. I could see thru the window a tiny kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. In my head I would imagine how I would decorate it and live in it. I made inquiries but it was sold. I really liked that area. Our metro stop was Garibaldi and everything you needed was right there. On Sundays the streets in front of the church were closed off for market day. We rode buses to the end of the line thru and beyond Paris just to see everything. It was lovely.
Too expensive and district no good .
Way too expensive for Pantin
That sounds like a beautiful experience. Sorry you couldn't purchase it, but hopefully you find something better one day
For some reason the French small apartments are all my favourites
me too, im into searching for youtube clips about little spaces like this one in france. it's fun to watch.
@@yyysboy1 if you need of best channel in french for alternative living says here or in pv.
it's because of the wonderful windows. The bathrooms would make me suicidal.
I love the masculine yet tasteful decor. This seems to come so easy to the French. The average American man would have NASCAR posters and a big brown lazy-boy w/60" tv on the 61" wall.
🤣🤣
Do you really believe he doesn't have a big TV in there usually? Come on what do you think he does most nights sits on his Chaise Lounge reading? lol
@@stevoc9930 Reading! That would be shocking.
@@barbarak2836 No I’m sure he does a lot of reading on his 50” flat screen TV that was hidden while the cameras were there. 😉
I love the Simplicity of this place. He did a great job styling it and keeping clean lines really makes it look much bigger than it actually is.
Oh my God Jean-Malo, I was randomly watching this as I clicked on it for no reason, and can't believe it was you. I was watching and thought, "I know that voice, and he looks familiar", lol .....It was lovely spending time in Cape Town with you and Patrick. Regards C
I would pretty the whole place up - i.e. cushions, rugs, small but stylish furniture which can double as storage. I would buy from antique/flea markets and make this place look simply gorgeous. This is such a unique property in such a wonderful location that it needs to look absolutely exquisite.
Perfect for one person living the life ! Good for you Monsieur!
That house for 2 people was AWESOME!!
This place is wonderful and has so much potential! Very livable and much better than most micro apartments I've seen in Paris
Such a practical and precise house . Yet is romantic and has character ! Lovely .
I love this Kirsten. More tiny Paris apartments please! xxx
This is one of my favourites. Not because of what it is but, rather, the potential. You have everything you could want, but in a smaller scale. All I would change is a bigger couch and a more versatile coffee table. And a bit more decor and plants, perhaps.
I could totally live in that right in the middle of Paris though I’d need to make it a bit more cosy. I probably would have designed upstairs differently and orientated the bed in the opposite direction to be able to keep the length. I’d need at least a bistro table/2 chairs downstairs and either a daybed or club chair that could convert into a bed. Many don’t understand that when you live in the middle of a city, the city becomes your living room and entertainment.
The smaller the space, the easiest the upkeep. You can clean that house in half an hour! I like it a lot!
I'll bet this small gem cost a small fortune. It is remarkable.Good for him.
so neat and he is cute
I'm pretty sure he plays on my team, but yeah.
yep, his personality during his talk probably adds a bit of charm to this little simple space :)
@@yyysboy1 Agree, a very charming guy! @ixlnxs I trust your instincts in this matter 😉
Charming Frenchie. Many aren't.
@@ixlnxs - ha! I picked that up!
It has a great little kitchen! I love this!
oh la la ¡ this gentleman was really very lucky to find such a nice property .
What a Fantastic little place! Very simple. Minimal is the way to live :o)
I agree 100%
I love this! Living in beautiful Paris has long been my dream, and though it will never happen, so fun to see how others do call Paris home.
This is a really good idea, a "garconiere". It's just my size of a living space. Neat and tidy.
It’s perfect for a bachelor pad. Tiny dishwasher, washing machine for the clothes.. it’s got everything you need!
I love this tiny micro house! It's cute and perfect in it's way and for something like city living, It makes sense. I'd love to see it for my own self.
Victoria Borean Someone commented that they stayed in it as an Airbnb. Apparently there are also several of these around. Maybe you can find out from the owner of this channel
Oh man, the space is definitely more than enough. I could easily see myself live here and design it for my own way of living. I like that it is a blank canvas, it is much easier to understand what you could do with the space.
So much character! I'd live there in a heartbeat. 🙂
This is a perfectly acceptable place to live. It just need some smart space furniture and some interior design to be perfect, it's cozy, ideal for a single person and I love it.
I love his little home. Cute, warm and cosy! It's a genuine bach pad in the city and needs it to sleep.
I love his space! I would be very happy living there :)
It's so interesting to see what is important to people and what is not in these little spaces. I can't believe most want a dishwasher.
+ TheDenisedrake
YOU KNOW?? I have a great, big dishwasher in my apartment, and I NEVER use it. Not only do you have to fill it all the way up to make it anywhere near efficient , but they are the biggest waste of energy and water you can possibly have. Ridiculous.
+tiffsaver not always. I use mine quite a lot, we use a lot of dishes and cutlery. And sometimes it uses water more efficiently than handwashing.
tiffsaver I use mine for storage...extra pots and pans, and the top rack for my aluminum foil, plastic storage bags, trash bags, all that stuff that takes up so much room in a cupboard or drawer.
TheDenisedrake people have different lifestyles, wants and needs..that's part of what free will is all about!..as an adult, surely you know this by now..(and you can do your own life *your* way.) *and* that, even though it's *none of our business,* we have no idea about his reasons for making that choice *for himself* or anything in detail about his life-story, so far..so, why be concerned about a grown man having a miniscule dishwasher in France??
tiffsaver probably *one* of the reasons he got such a small one.
Kirsten- my mother's side of the family is french. I have a cousin who lives right near this place on Rue Des Martyrs. Many on these buildings look so tiny on the outside, but they open into some decent size apartments on the inside. In any case my cousin created a three bedroom modern oasis for five people (3 kids& her& husband)in no more than 800 square feet. Pigalle has evolved into a gorgeous, modern chic area with great cafes and bakeries. The neighborhood is an extension of living space. Paris has some incredible spaces.
Now that's compact living! I like it.
I just am in love with the French architecture so beautiful and so much history 🥰 fabulous
Last December my family, husband and daughter, and I stayed at a cute little tiny (and I mean TINY) Airbnb flat in Paris. We chose it because it was literally a 7 minute walk to the Louvre. We used it as just a place to sleep because we spent the most of our 3 weeks there exploring the city. We loved that we had to go out of our comfort zone by renting it, rather than staying in a hotel. It was absolutely magical, so much that we planned to go property shopping this December. Then Covid hit 🙄. We still are seriously thinking of buying one for retirement when our daughter leaves for University next year.
I absolutely love this place! So charming and cozy. Well thought out.
I love it! Anything to live in Paris is worth it!
I love this little home!👍
I love seeing tiny houses & this one is missing out on some storage space & of course if someone was living there, there are other things that could be done to make it livable. But it is nice & unique.
What a charming man whom would probably be able to show anyone great places to visit in the area. I love the quaint little abode he calls home...for right now. As a single/retired person I could see myself inhabiting this tiny home, for a short time, to take in the ambience and meet the people, before moving on to the next city or town.
I think is superb living space , great job. Lovely. Heaven !!!
This place is so cute. I would live in the middle of Paris.
I think the space is lovely. I would kill to have that space in Paris. One of the best features of the apartment is that there is a washing machine, and the bathroom although small, is quite clean and efficient.
I would move there in a heartbeat. A Murphy bed would really expand the functionality of the bedroom, so that you could have a desk as well, and also reach the bathroom easier.
Wow. Never seen a dish washer that tiny. Like it. Enough for me and my dog, have to leave hubby out.
I love it. As I get older I realise just what you do n don’t need. I prefer to travel to get enjoyment out of life. I no longer own a tv as I found I spent too much time watching stuff that didn’t enhance my time. I could do easily live like this but I’d need a different location as I need to see trees or even possibly the sea but it’s a definite thumbs up from me.
I actually like the house. Very cute and functional. Lol.
Ideal for a single man/woman living the Parisian life style. Thank you for inviting us.
What a charming personality ❤️ his place is cute, has everything he needs and it is in Paris!
It’s a really cool tiny bachelor pad! I would gut the entire interior (except for the tiled main floor) and put in some very high end finished. Would get rid of that bed and put in one of those great old wooden sleigh beds. Would make for a fabulous pied a terre. Couldn’t live there full time, but what a fabulous place to have if you want to spend time regularly in Paris!
Not bad - deffinetly way nicer than a tiny flat!
Charming charming charming. Not that much different from living in an RV. But it's in Paris!! Vive la France!!
What a wonderful HOME. Stunning outside, adorable inside.
I love it. Cozy place. Mostly because is on the center of the city.
Perfect place
What a sweet little place! Perfect for a man. If he hired an architect, they would make it more spacious. Plenty of head room not utilized. So charming, just like the French.
Beautiful place, I love the architecture and no neighbors above or on the sides, it is darling, congratulations! I also live in a tiny space with beautiful views and my outdoors are the ocean
Enjoy your home.. I am a woman who loves my mountain home at the top of the mountains with antiques from years of family.
this is a dream home. so simple and small. we really dont need much.
That washing machine is PRECIOUS!! I would get an air fryer and a hot plate too but I love it!! The kitchen has almost as much storage as my 2br apartment, not bad. (Granted our kitchen doesn't have enough storage but there's two of us there😂)
Tres adorab! His English and his humor are great! How fun! Thanks
Absolutely beautiful, great character.
With some window flower boxes, etc., to grow herbs and flowers, this would be great for a couple who don't have kids.
I absolutely love it ! It has so much charm, love the a white bathroom. Plus I can't imagine why he's a bachelor! Lol he's ,funny witty and oh so handsome!😉charmant sourire enfantin! 😆😊
It's beautiful, ir looks very confy, and it's much better than some other súper tiny appartnents I've seen in France
I wish you would share how much people pays for their homes. It would help others when determining what is financially feasible and what is not.
I love that house. I wonder if the courtyard is his. If so he could have a whole table and chairs out there. Very nice thank you
Good idea ! can you imagine the courtyard filled with flowers and as you said a whole table and chairs it would look sooo pretty !! this little " dollhouse" would be better in the hands of a woman to give it a nicer, prettier touch !
Star buono Thank you, that is very of you to say :)
The courtyards here belong to everyone that walks through them :)
The courtyard is shared with the surrounding apartments. But he can surely have a small folding table that he brings out when he wants to use it, picnic style 😊
Good idea Anangke. Can have a little patio furniture, and some plants, and a planter with cooking herbs.
So lovely and charming dollhouse❣👋💋🇫🇷🌹🌹🌹
This is the best tiny flat I have seen!
Would so live here. A murphy bed would be perfect for the sleeping area.
Good idea!!
The virtue of this place is that you don't have to put the bed away every morning and take it down every night, though the shortened bed might not work for a tall guy.
Great idea!!!
I had idea in mind !!! So that it feels a bit roomy.
That space is about 50% larger than the place where I used to live in Kyoto. Plus, it has all of those appliances! I would enjoy it. I learned a lot living in a small place.
This is Fantastic and reminds me so much of the time Iived in Paris as well as Loire. Honestly makes me homesick in a good way. Great times!
The exterior is so stately and refined.
I like this one a whole lot. And how about that location? All is perfect.
What a great little place and being in the courtyard it is protected from the weather a little bit.
thats a small yet awesome home
C'est pas mal du tout ! Je savais même pas que des petites machines à laver existaient ! Dire que je trouvais que chez moi c'était petit !
Love this house. Great location.
Thats an awesome little place!!!
It's very nice. Minimalist & functional . It seems to be in a good location
Love this house and that dish washer and washing machine were adorable never knew you could get them that compact !!!.
I love how it is so minimal, it's a fab place
Wow! I love this small beautiful home.
Gorgeous setting and close to everything.
The owner is just lovely..
Australia --peace..
How cute is that? Perfect.
That would be a perfect air Bnb
In Paris you could easily book it every day of the year and get at least $200 a night if not more.
it is an Air Bnb (or was). I stayed there in Feb 2015
fuck air bnb
lainey marie $200 a night on AirBnb?? Uh no, not even close. A full AirBnb apartment of this kind might get $100/night during the summer in Paris.
@@cliftonville29 Did you like it? Is it still possible to rent that place?
Stunning! And in Paris! My dream💕
I wonder how people who live like this must be feeling being confined to these spaces during the age of Covid.
