It is just a notch higher than any tiny condo i have seen!!! Kudos to the designers and carpenters. They are a genius
Very clever design and use of space. Perfect for the family as a holiday home (or as an Air B&B), but don't think it would work for fulltime living as it is so compact and needs so much moving of fittings for everyday living. Might work for a single person for full time living but defiantly not a 3 person family full time. Would have like to have seen how he got up into that bed over the bathroom. Can't imagine two friends climbing up there after a few drinks. Think they'd end up in A&E to be honest, especially if they needed a wee during the night. 🙂
Yeah it would drive me crazy if I need fold away some parts of the room in order to use another. And folding in the kitchen makes me nervous about fire safety. But the architect and carpenter really did an amazing job.
OMG!!! So far, this is my favorite, tiny space since I’ve been interested in tiny space living. This abode is perfectly, tastefully and practically designed. I would love to build a tiny home, identical to this wonderful home!
Perhaps the ultimate in a "transformer" apartment, and (unlike some others I've seen) it all seems to work. He makes it clear that it's not for everyday use, so the reconfiguring process wouldn't become a tiresome chore. I think he actually gave his client everything she wanted in a very limited space!
It’s always so much more interesting to see what can be done with very strict limitations, than what can be done with no limits. It’s an intellectual and design exercise that calls on the exercise of imagination, creativity, and experience. Kudos to this talented designer!
Forget about the apartment design and use of space. The most impressive thing is how someone cooks for 5-10 people with one burner and no counterspace in that kitchenette. Edit: Oh it's a vacation home.
Yes, I think they won't cook there, it must be too uncomfortable to prepare more than pre-cooked dishes. I think the owners had unreasonable expectations. There is an expression in Spanish for this kind of people or situation: 'es un quiero y no puedo'.
@@NuriaLuna they gave him a challenge and total freedom. That was nice. He is such a lovely guy how he explains everything like a boy. I would still put a curtain in the shower. I couldnt stand dealing with those doors :) I got nervous just looking at him struggle with them.
Absolutely awesome design… The one problem I see is the closet for the bathroom. I would imagine over time a lot of those clothes will start smelling as they are always inside the bathroom air space and would also get damp!
on peut solutionner ce problème en ajoutant deux grilles verticales d'aération (une pour chaque côté de l'armoire) sur la porte basculante (deux belles grilles décoratives)
I find the hard surfaces would make the small space really LOUD - the wheels on the toaster/espresso machine table (at the beginning of the tour) were unbearable BUT that's an easy fix. You could be replace those wheels with rollerskate wheels and be whisper quiet. Same with the wheels on the movable walls that touch the floor.
i think there is something wrong with the way this was recorded because EVERYTHING seemed too noisy and grating on the nerves, especially the traffic and other outside noises. Or maybe the other videos I've watched are edited much more?!
This works like a beautiful piece or origami, it keeps unfolding to reveal more of itself and the multi purposes. His designs and I’m an amazing carpenter wow other architects need to watch this
TALK: About a stunning micro unit. I love the design, it seems like it would be so much work moving the modules all the time. The shower should have had a flip self for the shampoo, shower gel to sit on. Also I love the bathroom, it can double as a panic room if someone try to break in in. 😎👍🏾
I like the design. This would be great as a single dorm unit. Self-contained. Functional. The loft bed is a good storage place. I noticed that there is a rolling security shutter at the patio doors. I agree with many posters that the wheels are too noisy. They look like they are metal wheels. Eventually, the wheels will erode the tiles. Very efficient use of space. Clean and simple. Love the view of the beach and ocean.
Im really curious how he got up and down the bed on top. I thought it was the shelving on the door/cabinet but it seems like he went down the opposite side. Other than that, this was a genius way of incorporating all the client's want with how he utilized all the space
I would change the design in these ways: 1. Extend the loft area over the entry way, giving more room up there. 2. Perhaps lower the front section of the loft about 10cm or more (over the bathroom door) for more head room when crouching/crawling up there (a child of 6 or 7 may be better able to actually sit and read a book). I know the shower head wouldn't then fit, so I would move the shower area to the back of the bathroom (above the shower in the loft can be more of a shelf area there). 3. The "coffee cart" is completely NOT ergonomic! It should be raised to a comfortable level. Where it is stored under the other shelves - I would remove the bottom 2 shelves there (that swing in front of the kitchen sink currently). With the raised coffee cart, you can claim back some storage space in the coffee cart. Also, elimination of the 2 shelves will prevent covering up of the kitchen sink - which there is no need to do! 4. The wall panel @1:15 could swing open the opposite way (towards the main couch/bed). This would give enough room for a queen size fold-down bed from the wall. I mean, doesn't it make more sense to have a visiting adult couple sleep in a regular bed, and have a child or children crawl up into the more constricted loft area? 5. Optional: You could even have a drop-down bed from the high ceiling that could form a type of bunk bed situation.
El mejor carpintero que mis hijos an visto y yo soy un buen carpintero pero me le quito el sombrero. Here’s impresionante felicitote desde west palm beach Florida.
Very great use of space, I can see how he spent a lot of time to come up with this. Trying to find the best possible ways to utilize a tiny space especially with those requests would be stressful. Also happy he gave props to the carpenter because in building transitional things like this 1 to 2 mm off can make a whole mess of things. The only thing that would bother me the most is the coffee table cart with those wheels thumping on the tiled flooring all the time. But that's just a pet peeve for me personally. Not sure how the insulation is in the walls and if it would bother the neighbors too much or not.
Where did the ladder appear from to get to the loft bed? Though there were some good ideas, it seems like the focus was on Gin & Tonics. I confess, I'm a vodka person. Also, I've seen that dining table somewhere before... and it has many leaves that transform it into a long table, but... where were they? Nice intro drone shot!
First, the place is amazing. My concern is the moving parts after years of use. Would soft rubber wheels be better for the small cart and moving walls? I feel like the noise of them being moved would go down dramatically.
Really inventive use of space. Functionally it works but it would be a pain to live with. Why planners are allowed to build so small is the issue surely. Thought provoking video. Love your content.
I don't think it's a problem of "planners allowed to build so small". It is a vacational space, made for a couple with a kid at most. Not for one to put a table for 6 inside. Most people when in vacation eat outdoors anyway. You could see it as a Hotel room that someone wanted to convert into an appartment (generating a pronblem). I could guarantee there are bigger spaces for sale in those buildings, like 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom spaces (for more money of course).
Danny C I appreciate your point but would rather all spaces are comfortable while being suitable for the amount of occupants. The customer did want a lot from this space and has to live with the consequences. 👍🏻
@@paulmadden1458 Yeah that's kind of why I was trying to express. Some times people want more than what they can afford. If you can pay for a vacational space for 2, either use it comfortably for 2 or pay the consequences as you say.
The kid inside me would hate to have his 'stuffies' enclosed (suffocating...) in the hidden shelving area when the bed has been folded up... 🐼 Free the toys! lol
2:04 outside the door there is a single leaf for the table, extra chairs and the ladder for the loft. 3:00 shows the table assembled with the single leaf. Seems like there isn't actually any room in the apartment to store the extra equipment needed for entertaining. I think the object at 13:41 might be a couple of folding tray tables on a stand, probably what the family mostly uses when it's just the three of them.
There are some good ideas in this but, I think it was a mistake to put all of the foldable access for everything on the same side, and the kitchen should always be accessible. You shouldn't have to fold open a wall or two to get to a sink or fridge when entertaining, or otherwise. And, let's be honest, If your guests are too drunk to drive the last thing they need to be doing is climbing a ladder to get back-n-forth from a bed to the bathroom. Also, never store clothes in a bathroom, unless you want your clothes to be damp and always smell like a bathroom. I do like the room separating folding wall and murphy bed, though.
Absolutely you told what I was thinking. And imagine you're sleeping above the bathroom and someone just comes out of it after he have taken a big dump, the escaped smell as the door opens.
Phylis Maddox I forget the designers name, but I believe the table was called the Goliath. It has a bunch of leaf additions. And at my last recollection it was like 3,000 or something.
You have the best job in the world! I love watching all of your videos about interesting architecture and unique homes all over the world. Keep up the great work!
the leaves for the table descend from above and the chairs materialize from belowdecks, the ladder is a mere figment of the imagination as the sleeping loft presumes you are not intoxicated and have newly formed biceps or your so loaded with Gin that sleeping on the floor below the loft is the only option left,if a sci fit ladder were to be installed it would need to appear and disappear at will or you could resort to standing on someone’s shoulders and heave yourself in the letterbox above the bathroom. Getting down in the morning with a hangover could supply many a story of hilarious happenings for future generations.
Absolutely brilliant, work of a true genius, he has managed the totally impossible, it will be difficult or impossible to replicate without the special fixtures and craftsmanship
Give this man an award - he definitely delivered *everything* the clients wanted in such a tiny space!
I dont understand how the table works. Can you help me?
There must be leaves to put over the extenders. Maybe stored on the same caddy as the other folding chairs?

ArrohFFXI For the coffee table cart wheels you could get ones with more rubber or rollerblade like, reducing a lot of noise.
Genius 😎. I don’t think I’ll be able to see something like this in my
Hole life not even something closer to this. This architect deserves an award. 🎖
It’s so amazing how they transform the spaces and how it’s converted to different uses by just moving or opening the walls and spaces
First, the place is amazing. My concern is the moving parts after years of use. Would soft rubber wheels be better for the small cart and moving walls? I feel like the noise of them being moved would go down dramatically.
Impressive work. The demands were pretty crazy to begin with and the guy went and did it all. Wow.
The best use of small space. the best video ever. the architect is a genius
That devider blocked the music coming in, true story
It block the music visually. An add-on of earplugs can be bought to block it auditorily.😂
This is genius design, the moving doors and convertible space. the bathroom and its door is just mind boggling.
Where do they store the table top? We didn't see that part
I think the plates on the left at 14:21 are the table top.
My gosh. This is super amazing. I commend all of the people involved in making this space
Yep, right up until you need to use the bathroom .....
The kid inside me would hate to have his 'stuffies' enclosed (suffocating...) in the hidden shelving area when the bed has been folded up... 🐼 Free the toys! lol
That is really awesome. The space is incredibly practical, both in day mode and night mode. And I like the emphasis on a shower big enough for two :D.
where is the table top?
And the ladder for the loft bed. And the extra chairs to seat all those people at the table! Still, very cool and totally usable as a getaway home.
@Allan Babb?
And the prep space for cooking? 🙄
I am so impressed with this architecture. Brilliant design🙏🕊🥰🇨🇦❤️
This makes a lot of sense for a second home. Otherwise, although its incredibly functional, it would be like living in an eternal game of jenga
It's a weekend home
Wow! Now that is cool 😄 Everything you want in such a tiny space.
This could be my permanent home ❣
It blew ma mind....Gr8 Architect....Practicality 100%....He aced....Hatz off
Er, where's the rest of the table? Really cool - but that table is a little overly 'open design'!
Phylis Maddox I forget the designers name, but I believe the table was called the Goliath. It has a bunch of leaf additions. And at my last recollection it was like 3,000 or something.
And the 7 other chairs?
waRr3nxx ....I assume that’s euros?
I believe I saw the leaves of the table against the wall.
@@waRr3nxx $3000!!! Are you kidding? That's far too much to pay for that table. It looks very cheap and flimsy.
this is brilliant, using the max out of the smallest spaces...the carpenter is brilliant
What say the neighbour from the beneath about the noise you make when moving things around ??????
Pued sí, joder.
This is Genius!!!! It lives Big and spacious!! But it's Tiny. Absolutely Genius!!!!
I feel like the whole point of this apartment was for gin and tonic 😂😂
basically lol, its for weekend fun
Weekend getaways
You have the best job in the world! I love watching all of your videos about interesting architecture and unique homes all over the world. Keep up the great work!
If I lived inside there I’d be drinking gin & tonics every second too
lol
Genius! This architect hit every point in his clients’ brief! Impressive!
Where are the leaves for the table, and the ladder for the loft?
the leaves for the table descend from above and the chairs materialize from belowdecks, the ladder is a mere figment of the imagination as the sleeping loft presumes you are not intoxicated and have newly formed biceps or your so loaded with Gin that sleeping on the floor below the loft is the only option left,if a sci fit ladder were to be installed it would need to appear and disappear at will or you could resort to standing on someone’s shoulders and heave yourself in the letterbox above the bathroom. Getting down in the morning with a hangover could supply many a story of hilarious happenings for future generations.
@@RemotePa hahhahahahha xD
Absolutely brilliant, work of a true genius, he has managed the totally impossible, it will be difficult or impossible to replicate without the special fixtures and craftsmanship
Love it what a clever design !! I would be living there with a partner but not a kid .
Wow! This was so well thought out and functional. A transformer home. Very cool.
