Carrier opinion here: poor management at the stations, seniority based promotion vs merit based promotion, each craft has a different contract and union which leads to an "us vs them" mentality and low morale, workers are not able to work as a cohesive unit, and union protects bad employees and burns out good employees.

It's gotten real bad. No consolidation by me yet but it's a huge domino effect. Last night I went back to my office because the night truck ( 6pm) dropped off baby chics. They were over 24 hours old already. If we left them in our building overnight there is a huge risk they would have died before morning. Totally ridiculous. I delivered them myself and went back home around 7pm.
They are taking away money from the carriers to help “save money”. While these people make bank, the hardest working people in the post office (mail carriers) are feeling the worst of it. How about investigate how they are taking more than 10,000 a year away from carriers but they are still required to work the same amount. No one feels sorry for you. Get out the office and actually talk to the employees.
Many of the Delivery Barcode Sorters that sort letters were scrapped when Dejoy became Postmaster General. They cannot be replaced easily because the Post Office never made the final payments for the last ones purchased some 20 years ago and at least one company vowed to never sell sorting machines to the USPS again.
Mikenodan, I know the sorter machines needed repairs but, When you have a Post Master General pockting funds that were alotted for different postal branches & no one pressed charges & voted Trump in, you get what you got! Your machines removed too slow down the counts of ballots or too be presice democratic ballots. DeJoy is not doing a good job at all, overall. Many Postal offices accross the U.S. are closed, vacated, & many postal workers lost their jobs.

Last week, I had a package go through the Palmetto facility to the main distribution center and then back to Palmetto and then back again. Something isn't right, lol.

But let me tell you that they are shipping Atlanta mail from Atlanta to New York, Ohio, Texas and so on and asking them to process the mail and ship it back to them as ready to deliver mail. I have been a carrier for 10 years and I watched the whole hearing. The issue I have here is DeJoy isn't telling the whole story. Yes it takes time for all the change and the post office definitely needs it but the change needs to be internally not just structurally. He didn't talk about how we have a staffing shortage due to a toxic management environment. Alot of these facilities do not have the people to cover all the routes cause new employees quit after being treated horribly. Now I'm seeing carriers quit that are 10 and even 15 years in. Tacoma WA just got a new postmaster within 3 weeks he's harassed and even cause physical harm to a carrier. This is a job and we have rights and these bullies that cannot even respect basic human rights is what will bring the post office to a breaking point. Carriers are tired, overworked and extremely underpaid. We come in cause we love our job and what it stands for, for our customers. So please when your mail comes at 9pm at night just remember that carrier is doing all they can and have probably been on the clock for 12+ hours.
Nalc contact has been in the works for almost a year in May, do we all think he cares about US mail carriers. It’s insane pay us more than ups and fedex and you will see performances off the charts.
Meanwhile…USPS management are still taking in bonuses while raising the cost of postage. The oversight committee should look into the ‘ PAY FOR PERFORMANCE’ program.

I went out to my car Friday and found someone else's mail on the windshield of my car! Drove up to the post office to tell them that someone put mail on my windshield and the Postmaster was embarrassed and said well take care of it while asking someone else who had that particular route?
I work in a plant and i understand what dejoy is trying to do, the problem is that nobody talked to the employees and putting people in management that have NO BUSINESS being in leadership. Dejoy should have known better that his management wasnt up to par, if there is plant failures, poor communication, toxic work environment and so on. On @22:00 he is so full of garbage. I was working every day to make sure people were ok while delivering packages. It was like Christmas everyday for a whole year
I have packages that I shipped as a business that sat in Atlanta for 2 weeks or longer. My customers are angry and want refunds. Claims have been filed with the PO for the "lost" packages with the majority of those claims being rejected. I now use UPS 90% of the time due to the incompetency with the PO.

Yea the USPS is a disaster of an organization! Since September 2023 I have had nearly 5 packages severely damaged resulting in them having to be exchanged with the merchant costing me thousands of $$$! As of today the USPS has yet to respond with adequate sufficiency with regard to the whereabouts of another package of mine that they lost enroute to the merchant I was sending it too after horrific damage upon USPS delivery to me prior. I've submitted service request, MRC requests, & my package was insured; yet still to this very day 04/26/2024 they have no answer about the whereabouts of my package!

A national institution that was created before the Declaration of Independence is not just a business, it is a public service. It is no longer a monopoly. Traditionally the service would make profits in centres of concentrated populations and subsidise the service in less populared and rural areas. The USPS is facing very similar problems to those faced by the UK Post Office and Royal Mail which were founded over 500 years agom Mail delivers have to learn the route which means being shown it by an experienced person. A good 10-15 years of unskilled and ABUSIVE MANAGEMENT who ride the employees who work, play favorites with others, plus COVID when many post offices had 1/2 the workers off for months at a time - DeJoy should’ve been focused on TRAINING MGMT to respect the worker and when morale improved USPS would have willing workers who want to help the system get better. As it is, most of us are so exhausted and frustrated, we are just keeping our heads above water.

Problem is we had staffing problems already and now he thinks the ones that are there will willingly drive hours out of there way to go to a different building? Most of these people took this job because it was close to home. I personally don't want to drive that much more. I'm not a truck driver. It's about a extra 4 hours of just driving everyday. With half that time off the clock ( back and forth to work) using your own gas with prices the way they are. Obviously people quit.

I purchased an expensive printer that I need for my small business. It’s a very specific printer and it’s been “OUT OF NETWORK” for almost TWO MONTHS!!!! Informed delivery is stuck, but they call me every time I file a case that it’s “there but it’s on the way” WHY can’t they tell me the truth. It’s it’s lost allow me to file a claim?! The worst part about it is I paid a lot of money for the printer - the claim is only valid for a limited amount of time and worth $100 dollars. Can I got here and get my damn printer myself at this point?! This is ridiculous! If the palmetto dc isn’t ready why did they open it! They aren’t moving quickly - it’s not being addressed and I’m losing patience!!!! I’m sick of this!
Atlanta is still experiencing issues even going into August of 2024. Inbound packages still have significant delays sitting in Atlanta distribution for days on end. To be fair, there has been some improvement but consistency is way off prior to the changes brought into play in February of 2024. Still seeing lost packages. misrouted packages the wrong local PO or even out of state only to repeat the same delays going back through Atlanta. And woe to the person who has to place a missing mail search. These are dumped off (in significant quantity) to the local postmaster who has almost no ability to assist and who are certainly not part of the problem.
I'm waiting for a package from hazelwood mo and it's 30 days over....it was randomly sent from hazelwood by mistake to Columbia il and Columbia sent it back to hazelwood so the process will start all over....can't even get the package out of usps hand to ship fedex......crazy this is allowed to go on
And when the Postal Service fails to deliver a first class letter in a timely fashion, many take to doing their business online, which is faster but not secure. Too many agencies have been hacked and private information stolen, but the postal managers and outside bad actors want more people to use online services rather than the postal service. Having to rely on people working 2-4hrs OT every day costs more than just hiring more people... And you don't have to strictly rely on overtime.

Look I work for the post office and he’s saying it’s going to get better. But let me tell you that they are shipping Atlanta mail from Atlanta to New York, Ohio, Texas and so on and asking them to process the mail and ship it back to them as ready to deliver mail. There’s no way it’s getting better because it’s putting the rest of the plants behind by doing their work. They littery send it there. With hand written notes from post masters that say “just get it done” like what? Get your mail done? He’s an idiot.

I have been a carrier for 10 years and I watched the whole hearing. The issue I have here is DeJoy isn't telling the whole story. Yes it takes time for all the change and the post office definitely needs it but the change needs to be internally not just structurally. He didn't talk about how we have a staffing shortage due to a toxic management environment. Alot of these facilities do not have the people to cover all the routes cause new employees quit after being treated horribly. Now I'm seeing carriers quit that are 10 and even 15 years in. Tacoma WA just got a new postmaster within 3 weeks he's harassed and even cause physical harm to a carrier. This is a job and we have rights and these bullies that cannot even respect basic human rights is what will bring the post office to a breaking point. Carriers are tired, overworked and extremely underpaid. We come in cause we love our job and what it stands for, for our customers. So please when your mail comes at 9pm at night just remember that carrier is doing all they can and have probably been on the clock for 12+ hours.

Nalc contact has been in the works for almost a year in May, do we all think he cares about US mail carriers. It’s insane pay us more than ups and fedex and you will see performances off the charts.
Meanwhile…USPS management are still taking in bonuses while raising the cost of postage. The oversight committee should look into the ‘ PAY FOR PERFORMANCE’ program.

You don’t want people to quit but you’re making your employees drive up to two hours away?!? Think how they are going to work after driving like that. Yes you’re asking people to quit. I went out to my car Friday and found someone else's mail on the windshield of my car! Drove up to the post office to tell them that someone put mail on my windshield and the Postmaster was embarrassed and said well take care of it while asking someone else who had that particular route?

I work in a plant and i understand what dejoy is trying to do, the problem is that nobody talked to the employees and putting people in management that have NO BUSINESS being in leadership. Dejoy should have known better that his management wasnt up to par, if there is plant failures, poor communication, toxic work environment and so on. Dejoy should have looked at his management and looked qt the process with the employees and not management that cooks the books and tells him what he wants to hear. Also dejoy should have learned the business before thinking about changing EVERYTHING
On @22:00 he is so full of garbage. I was working every day to make sure people were ok while delivering packages. It was like Christmas everyday for a whole year

I have packages that I shipped as a business that sat in Atlanta for 2 weeks or longer. My customers are angry and want refunds. Claims have been filed with the PO for the "lost" packages with the majority of those claims being rejected. I now use UPS 90% of the time due to the incompetency with the PO.

Yea the USPS is a disaster of an organization! Since September 2023 I have had nearly 5 packages severely damaged resulting in them having to be exchanged with the merchant costing me thousands of $$$! As of today the USPS has yet to respond with adequate sufficiency with regard to the whereabouts of another package of mine that they lost enroute to the merchant I was sending it too after horrific damage upon USPS delivery to me prior. I've submitted service request, MRC requests, & my package was insured; yet still to this very day 04/26/2024 they have no answer about the whereabouts of my package!

OK, so at the end of the day after this meeting, they see how everything is not working. What’s the end go? What are they gonna do with him?
A good 10-15 years of unskilled and ABUSIVE MANAGEMENT who ride the employees who work, play favorites with others, plus COVID when many post offices had 1/2 the workers off for months at a time - DeJoy should’ve been focused on TRAINING MGMT to respect the worker and when morale improved USPS would have willing workers who want to help the system get better. As it is, most of us are so exhausted and frustrated, we are just keeping our heads above water.

Problem is we had staffing problems already and now he thinks the ones that are there will willingly drive hours out of there way to go to a different building? Most of these people took this job because it was close to home. I personally don't want to drive that much more. I'm not a truck driver. It's about a extra 4 hours of just driving everyday. With half that time off the clock ( back and forth to work) using your own gas with prices the way they are. Obviously people quit.

I purchased an expensive printer that I need for my small business. It’s a very specific printer and it’s been “OUT OF NETWORK” for almost TWO MONTHS!!!! Informed delivery is stuck, but they call me every time I file a case that it’s “there but it’s on the way”
WHY can’t they tell me the truth. It’s it’s lost allow me to file a claim?! The worst part about it is I paid a lot of money for the printer - the claim is only valid for a limited amount of time and worth $100 dollars. Can I got here and get my damn printer myself at this point?! This is ridiculous! If the palmetto dc isn’t ready why did they open it! They aren’t moving quickly - it’s not being addressed and I’m losing patience!!!! I’m sick of this!

Atlanta is still experiencing issues even going into August of 2024. Inbound packages still have significant delays sitting in Atlanta distribution for days on end. To be fair, there has been some improvement but consistency is way off prior to the changes brought into play in February of 2024. Still seeing lost packages. misrouted packages the wrong local PO or even out of state only to repeat the same delays going back through Atlanta. And woe to the person who has to place a missing mail search. These are dumped off (in significant quantity) to the local postmaster who has almost no ability to assist and who are certainly not part of the problem.
I'm waiting for a package from hazelwood mo and it's 30 days over....it was randomly sent from hazelwood by mistake to Columbia il and Columbia sent it back to hazelwood so the process will start all over....can't even get the package out of usps hand to ship fedex......crazy this is allowed to go on
And when the Postal Service fails to deliver a first class letter in a timely fashion, many take to doing their business online, which is faster but not secure. Too many agencies have been hacked and private information stolen, but the postal managers and outside bad actors want more people to use online services rather than the postal service. Louis DeJoy and his co-conspirators should be fired!!!!
It’s not the carriers they are trying their best. The system and the amount of mail nowadays is insane. If you can only see what it looks like in the stations it’s complete chaos.

The postal workers are mad because DeJoy is cutting overtime. Workers slowing down has caused the mail to sit in the plants. The carriers can only deliver the mail they are given.

They shouldn't HAVE to work overtime every day to get the mail out. That's the point. There should be enough employees where everything can be processed comfortably with mostly 8hr shifts. Having to rely on people working 2-4hrs OT every day costs more than just hiring more people... And you don't have to strictly rely on overtime.

Fix the first problem which is the primary objective is to deliver mail and packages within 4-10days.
