      +NietZsche Apollonian You don't know how to execute a proper power clean but you won't take advice from the Crossfit community?...Are you as racist as you are prejudicial? Saying that no one in the ENTIRE Crossfit community can perform a power clean is equivalent to saying no black man can read. Open your mind and stop listening to the all the haters at your body building gym. We know what we're doing. Obviously new people to Crossfit are still learning...just like yourself. ...and those are the terrible videos you're watching all over the web.

      Cheers for this, I have been researching "gym training for strength" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Fonmich Strength Smasher - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my partner got excellent results with it.

      Squatnation Just as a quick remark, from something my coach told me: On your split jerks, try to keep the core tight and the glutes activated so that your tailbone is not pointing back at the end of the jerk, but rather, tucked in and vertical with your spine and pointing towards the floor. It will reduce the chances of lumbar problems:)

    You have to work on your lower traps because your shoulders are elevated when doing the snatch. Other than that not a bad form.

    how long have you been olympic lifting? great video by the way. also does olympic lifting alone build muscle mass like some of the heavy lifters I've seen

    • @dylanwong1977
      @dylanwong1977  7 років тому +6

      Heli Hutchinson hey, I've been doing it on and off for about 4 years now throughout university. Olympic weightlifting is great for building muscle mass but I wouldn't say it is the fastest, eventually if you'd like to compete, you'd want to be in the lightest weight class you can be. If you continue to gain mass and weight, your numbers will have to improve accordingly. Overall many athletes use Olympic weightlifting as functional exercise to improve in their respective sports (runners, BJJ etc)

    • @helihutchinson5342
      @helihutchinson5342 7 років тому +1

      thanks for the info. how many days do you train? where I live there's only one weightlifting club but they only train once a week, is that enough or would you need to train maybe 3 to 4 tunes a week to compete? I would like to build muscle also so do you think it's possible to continue my regular gym routine and olympic lift as well or would that be to much?

    • @helihutchinson5342
      @helihutchinson5342 7 років тому

      also.. do you do any other type of gym work out do you just olympic lift?

    • @dylanwong1977
      @dylanwong1977  7 років тому +3

      I have only been training once a week for the past 6 months really because of school but that was enough to maintain my current strength surprisingly. It depends on the type of workout that you do, mine mainly involved strength exercises which is why I was able to maintain my strengths. I do a mixture of olympic lifts,
      bodybuilding and circuit training. This video is from over 2 eyars ago, I can say i have improved technique wise and strength also.

    • @helihutchinson5342
      @helihutchinson5342 7 років тому

      at the moment I do strength training consisting of squats, deadlift and bench press. I do 3 sets of 5 reps for each. I'm 12 stone with a similar build to you in the video. im going to start the Olympic lifts as it's only once a week on a Saturday. When your training are you taking any supplements e.g. mass gainer or protein shake? or would you say that there not needed.

    what programe do you suggest for beginners in oly lifting

    • @dylanwong1977
      @dylanwong1977  9 років тому

      I can't tell you a programming specifically but my workouts typically consists of a pull(clean/snatch pull, rows etc), a press (Jerks, strict presses etc), squats (front, back) and core work. This is only if you've got some experience in OLY, if not I would suggest to first get a coach to teach you.

    • @TheScroller99

      I trane UFC bro (CONOR MCGREGOAT WILL KILL ALDO) just make sure you weighttrain Before your mma workout/workouts. i did this for boxing and it helped my ko Power big time. Make sure you do only compound movements with low reps high weight so you dont bulk up (that would hurt your speed) your strenght and explosiveness will skyrocket trust me.

      +Parveen Panwar I would say the first step of weightifting is to get a coach with a decent amount of knowledge. Weightifting consists of a lot of technique therefore you need someone constantly watching you until the movements of the snatch and clean&jerk become second nature.

      Yes it would be helpful, considering you have decent form and technique already when it comes to the squats and deadlifting. Your next move would be to work on mobility.
