- Its easy to turn a Normal Subaru WRX into an STI. I got this plastic spoiler and custom painted it in a candy apple red and other custom colours.
Spray Painting is awesome, all you need to know is the inside tips and tricks to get it right.

You should paint the the roof black so it can go with the flow of the spoiler

Hey man, keen to getting into painting stuff for my car properly instead of being a rattle can warrior. How would you rate the spray guns from supercheap or Bunnings for the weekend warrior? Good or should I save my coin and buy a more expensive one that professional spray painters would use?

Nice upgrade, i might have painted the base of the spoiler in white. Mayby little too much red, but thats just my opinion and everybody makes cars for themself. :)
Can the 2k high build primer be used on plastic??.....the data sheet doesn't specifically mention plastic?
just a tip with getting high flow from spray cans. If you go to an aerosol art shop you can buy different spray caps. Some of these have high flow open nozzels. While these are designed for aerosol art graffiti spray cans they will work on the auto spray cans as well. You can buy them for like 60cents.

What do you do when you rub through the 2K primer on plastic bits do you just use a little plastic primer then base coat
Gotta ask, as a pro bodywork guy, why not fill the holes from the previous spoiler? I personally feel it would loko better than the supplied covering plate. The three colours look insane and that pearl is epic.

+customspraymods no problem, always liked the amount of info you share in your videos, including the good stuff about spray cans not being capable of putting down a thick even coat like a gun in this one, that's the sort of stuff I tend to try remember for when I get around to finally doing something myself.

Question. I painted my side skirts for my car. Ill be using the 2K clear coat in a can that you showed in a previous video. How many coats of clear should i give to to be able to wet sand and buff them

Why not? It’s easier than you think. Painting - it’s 70% prep - 30% finish, and with drilling holes; measure once, measure twice, measure again, so you know it fits right. The drilling part itself - get some decent HSS drill bits, and go slow. Push too hard you’ll blunt the bit. Weight of the drill is usually enough. Maybe put a blob of oil on the bit, but if drilling a single skin like a tailgate - you probably won’t need it.
Don’t be put off by the fear of fucking up.
Anything can be fixed :-)

Can you recommend a plastic primer in a spray can?
I applied adhesiion promoter (spray can) into a painted plastic part...but it react, it is due the nature of the old paint? Do I have to sand to bare plastic?
David Ruiz yes, you can’t paint over old paint that hasn’t been sanded

Hi Dave, is there a reason behind only filling those tiny holes and blemishes after applying the primer? unknowingly I would have tried sorting out those before going near it with paint. does it make a difference? Cheers.
The primer exposed all the holes and the guide coat exposed all the high and low spots. Filling the holes before primer would have worked as well.

Thanks man.. I would use 2K Etch primer. After a 240grit dry rub.

Yes you can. But use the same type of paint.

what sort of air mask do you use, and how often do you have to replace it when your spraying 2k paints.
I use the sundstrom mask with the visor. Replace the filters when you can smell the paint or I think its been a while.
good vid. why wouldn't you just repair and repaint the boot lid? ... looks good, but thr filler piece does look like an add-on.

How do you recommend painting ATV plastics?
They never really paint well. Soft plastics like that are generally very oily. This method would be your best bet.
