      He got whacked because of the Fed tapes that had Gotti and his crew talking about dealing drugs, which Castellano was against. They knew once he heard the tapes he would order a hit on them so they struck first. His being whacked had nothing to do with money.

      @@DWilliam1 not really,Paul new the Gotti crew was dealing drugs since gene Gotti and other had been arrested,he didnt do anything because of how close John was with dellacroe,hes what kept them from killing each other,once he died Paul got hit up a week later,that's was years later,paul really didnt care about the drugs as long as payments was being made,he simply didn't like the Gotti crew

    • @DWilliam1

      Raykay700 Wxcelt that Gene wasn’t convicted until 1989(Paul was killed in 1985) on those charges and from what I have read, Paul asked for but never received the transcripts of the wiretaps that had them talking about selling heroin. I’m not sure he was waiting for proof or waiting for the right time, but I believe he would have been whacked too.
      Johns situation was different because because Paul would have have had access to the wire tap tapes where John and Anthony were talking about distributing drugs. The bosses did not want them to sell drugs because the sentences were so high they felt they would flip if they got popped. Remember this was before RICO as the commission arrests were the first time it was used and they had no idea if they were going to get convicted nor how long the sentencing was. You can also google all of this and see that many share my view.

    I’ve was a pastor for years with several ministries under my care. It only took one small group of back biters to circulate lies and criticisms to bring it all down. It came down to one man who wanted a position on the board and I was warned by the pastor who went before me not to give it to him. He volunteered a lot, showed support but it was always with strings attached. When it all went bad me and my family were almost totally abandoned by people I served for years. The stress was insane. I went to a few pastors conferences to find that this story plays out regularly in churches.

    The storm eventually calmed, but the Genovese Family wasn’t happy with the Castellano hit initially. They were pissed that the murder of a boss wasn’t approved by The Commission. They tried to take out Gotti and ended up killing his friend on a hit that was meant for Gotti.

    Facts.. most of the people I used to call “friends” were people was we’re low key competing with me and once I “fell off” they kicked me while I was down and I never heard from them again lol. Took them like ten years to finally start doing better than me. It’s sad man I have these friends Jobs,money, places to sleep for months at a time, food, weed. When I needed something all I got was excuses and people kicking me while I’m down. I learned a life lesson though and I’m never helping another person again unless they’re my mom or dad. Even my own brother didn’t lift a finger to help me while I was struggling bad! It’s like he was happy to see me down. My mom told me he’s been jealous of me my whole life so I guess he’s happy to see me down lol. The thing is I’m not staying down forever so when I’m back up again, I’m going to make him extremely jealous. I’ll make sure to throw everything in his face too.

    • @prestonpreston8082
      @prestonpreston8082 2 роки тому

      A real friend / family member is someone who is genuinely happy for your success. There is a lot of jealousy, resentment in a lot of people. When I deal with people like that, I try to minimize my involvement with them and ignore them as much as possible. If they try to screw with me at the office, if they make a mistake, I will take them down. If I have people like that in my personal life, if I can, I will eliminate them completely or as much as possible. I tell young people do not expect other people to be happy with your success. If possible, if you achieve something, keep it to yourself. As for your statement, "...I’m never helping another person again unless they’re my mom or dad," I would not follow that path. Jesus of Nazareth said, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." We are also commanded in Scripture, to, "Love your neighbor." Billy Graham said, "The greatest Christian grace is love. Not that sentimental feeling often called love today, but that deep regard for the welfare of others which will prompt us to help them when they need help." In Luke 6:27 “But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you." You can get a tremendous amount of personal satisfaction and a feeling of achievement by having a positive impact in someone else's life. There is a good book that may be of assistance to you, "Looking out for Number One" by Robert J Ringer. You can get the book on Amazon cheaply. I hope you do get back up again. I believe productive behavior is the key - work, studying, a good exercise program, enjoying yourself with a good television show, etc., and avoiding self-destructive behavior like substance abuse, wasteful spending habits, consumer over consumption or being jealous of other people like your brother. I would really recommend you read a chapter a day from the Bible, specifically the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John + the book of the Acts of the Apostles. I would urge you to consider the Christian faith. (Please note I have been royally screwed by some of my fellow Christians. Again, you have to be very careful as Michael Franzese says above.) Good luck and please do get back up!

Don’t let anyone take advantage of you or get too close to you. Dealing with people is a fine line to walk. Know when to keep your mouth shut, keep your opinions and emotions close to the vest. I think the most underrated thing about the movie Goodfellas was that in Ray Liottas narration of Henry Hill, the movie showed how Henry always thought on his feet, he was disciplined in what he said and did especially around Jimmy, Tommy, and Paulie.. Henry was the quietest of the group, he played the background, he was always observing everything going on around him.. The guys who were less aware, not as disciplined in their words or actions were all killed and they never saw it coming, none of them. They underestimated the danger they were in, I don’t think Henry ever did

    To his points toward the end, whenever someone tells me that they accepted a management position, for example, the first thing I tell them is to understand that sooner or later, one of their employees is going to test them/challenge their authority. It's not a maybe, it's a definitely, and when it happens, you DO have to handle it. And yes, I"m speaking from personal experience on all of this.

And I'm paraphrasing, but the book pretty much said the same thing and referenced the grumbling on the street about Paul's greed, and that he was a recluse, and Tommy was pretty unpopular as well. But he controlled most of the businesses and took in something like 25% to 50% of their revenue. He could shut down that city if he wanted too. Even if Gotti didn't kill him, he was done anyway. The FBI had loads of tape on him from that lamp.

He looked awesome and there were many Gambino people in our neighborhoods. In my opinion, RICO Laws made American suburbs more unsafe. The Mafia is a necessary Evil. The Police are constrained by the US Constitution. The Mafia will keep the neighborhood safe just by their presence. Fear is a powerful motivator.

    People may not have cried when Gotti killed Big Paul, but the Gambino family was denied a seat on the commission for a number of years. I heard, as well, that Vincent Gigante was angry regarding the unsanctioned killing of Paul Costellano, and - for a time - was thinking of having Gotti killed.

    • @its_rick_james_bich2575
      @its_rick_james_bich2575 2 роки тому

      The Gambino’s were not denied a seat on the commission!! They were too powerful and still led many of lucrative rackets in construction and also porn!!
      Gigante attempted to have Gotti killed using Luchesse then underboss Casso to organise the hit! They failed to get Gotti in a car bomb, but got his underboss DeCicco instead.
      After this incident, Gotti had a meeting with Gigante. Gotti denied killing Castellano or gave his reasons and Gigante denied being behind the attempt to kill him. Angelo Ruggerio had tried to kill Casso in revenge for the DeCicco hit but failed. It was agreed at the same meeting that Angelo would be retired and cast out of the mob.

    The Colombos definitely didn’t like Castellano and didn’t miss him when he was killed. Big Paul was “Boss of Bosses” because he was the boss of the biggest family. The Colombos were the smallest of the Five Families. There were other reasons why the Colombo family disliked Paul. But Chin Gigante and the Genovese Family DID like and respect Paul. To the point where Chin ordered retaliation on Gotti’s crew and ended up blowing up one of Sammy the Bull’s good friends. This was crazy. The mob in New York did not use bombs. This was an unforgivable act. John Gotti, boss of the Gambino Family and now Boss of Bosses okayed Sammy the Bull to hit Gigante, boss of the Genovese Family and second most powerful mob boss at the time. But before this could happen, Gotti and Sammy and a bunch of others were seized up by the FBI and Sammy turned informant and the rest is history. But there was potentially going to be a Godfather-esque war between the Gambinos and the Genovese. For context, there has NEVER been a war between two different mafia families. Not since Luciano set up the Commission and split the mafia in New York into the Five Families of today. It would’ve made for a great movie, but it would have been a disaster if Chin Gigante and John Gotti went to war.
