If you use any cookable fish, a potato, and oil when cooking, it will make Fish and Chips. It's a really useful recipe when you're doing anything underwater, because it gives you the 'swim like a fish' effect. What that does is it makes you breathe underwater, and you move faster underwater both when moving around and using your weapon/tools. There are a few other recipes that give this effect but the only other ones I know of need a specific fish, so I prefer the fish and chips.
Loads of good advice, thanks! Couple of additions; Boss sabrecat on soggy skerry jumps higher, runs faster and hits harder than the cubs. Also golem are great for orichalcum; I don't bother looking, just punch through the whole lake, fast and easy, and they kill mobs fast!
another clear marker of being "out of bounds" for your base is the music changes. this was what I used in DQB1, so I didn't actually notice the icon in this one since I was used to that method. also, unlike in the first one, the size of certain boundaries changes sometimes. Moonbrooke's territory baiscally doubles in size to let you build the required defenses without minimizing the space available in the actual castle area
Also the best thing to do with swimming is to make pan-fried Marlin. It makes you go through water as if it were the ground and never run out of stamina until the food runs out, but it lasts a long time.
That's a great point about traps and walls. I usually use Malroth to know where the boundary of the base is. He'll be relaxed and roaming when you're in the base. The moment you step outside the base, he runs to your side. The music also stops immediately. Only use food to recover health if you're completely out of medicine. So far, I've only had to do this early on Khrumbul-Dun. I would say always carry a bed with you - it's annoying trying to build things and gather resources with the stupid ghost constantly following you. That is a great point about helping teammates recover mid fight tho. I'll have to employ that. I like the water storage. That's pretty cool.
you don`t need to fight the waves of enemies attacking your bases on all three islands. Malroth and your villagers cannot die, and will sooner or later overwhelm everything hargon throws at you, aside for the bosses, they have specific ways of defeating them. on my second playthrough, I found a high spot and watched the carnage unfold without a single swing of my weapon.
For the orichalcum, you can also just scoop some of the poison into your pot then go 1st person and start going into the poison at a certain point the poison will become clear and you can locate the ore that way as well.
I don't mean to poke problems as to what I'm sure are useful tips, but this video is structured and narrated in a way that assumes you have knowledge of this game beforehand and have already played it. Some of the tips are clearly still easy to follow and understand, but a chunk of this video requires you to already have knowledge. Usually tips and tricks videos of what you wished you knew beforehand are narrated in a way that assumes you have virtually zero knowledge of the game. That way you can go into the game feeling prepped.
Protip. Build your toilet(s) several dozen blocks up in the sky, and make it only accessible by ladder. Now you can sit back and laugh at how the poor villagers need to climb a ladder to take their morning shit. As an added bonus, you can set up Dracky or Fat-Rat Statues to stare at villagers while they are shitting.
I have a special section on my automated farm for medical herbs so if I need medical treatment (if I run out of medicine) I can use them and create more, the water storage is also something another player came up with if not saw himself, called BenXC
You actually can get the portal in your inventory one way that I know of. I put it back down without thinking, but if you haven't completed the story, and you put the portal on the big brown patch of chert that's just down the steps from where the hammer symbol is at the Hairy Hermit place, something in the story will break it off the ground there and it'll be sitting there as an item to be picked up.

I’m 165+ hours into this game and still loving it. Great solution for water storage and the window looking glass! Now if someone could just show me how to fill a pond more than one block deep, I’d be all set.
Another thing is that spoil spoors do NOT appear under roofs, my game just reported to me that they appeared but when I looked around, nothing inside my base (I built underground with full roof except for the stairs leading down)
An even better set up for farms is to place the water next to the farm blocks. They even set up the wooden grates to fit right over top of them so that you don't even have to jump. Constant water, quicker growth, faster harvesting, what's not to love.
4 blocks hight is slightly better for the storage because unless you are above or too close to the top, you tend not to collect the whole amount if you accidentally use scoop not place. (From experience lol. Accidental scooper xtrodinare lol) Didn't think about me using the bed tho because monsters love to beat on me XD, thanks
You could battle nap or you could just use the leaves that drop from enemies like the scorpions to craft into medicine that recovers 30 hp each time. There's a rarer leaf that is more potent once made in to medicine but i'm not sure of its drop conditions.
Let me clear this out, to the people commenting about the content of this video and about giving credits, the game was released on 20th of December 2018 and there are literately thousands of Japanese guides from videos to websites beside the countless user comments for tips and tricks and feedback i have received from the day i started playing the game (played the Japanese and the English version). Also if you really played the game a lot then you already know more than half of these things anyway as they are easy to figure out and notice once you spend 100s of hours, these are all in-game mechanics and not something i created or developed (even the elevator video, its a game mechanic) and i can literally put another few videos of tips if i want as there are so many things to talk about, i can add the best companion monster as a tip, fly and glide as a tip, using of the various tools etc so yeah, but i dont want to bombard you with similar videos with minimal added value saying its an updated version or a complete new version just for views. Multiple people post guides of their games and almost all their guides are identical! why? because they are part of the game and are game mechanics so thats why nobody feels entitled, i have literally posted videos and saw other youtubers posting similar guides or content identical to mine even to the thumbnail just hours or few days after mine. Have a good day and enjoy our content. -MD
Hey Murad Zero. I love watching your videos but I think this is completely different from having similar guides to another youtuber. For example, if you both do all locations of secret items in an area, of course it will be the same. So no one expects you to credit anyone. But you wouldn't copy someone's build of a house and not credit them, right? Even if they are using the game mechanic of building, it is still their creation and design. Benxc showcased his build that he created which implements the water system of the game, but it is still his build. You could have showcased the water mechanics and just made your own build to show it off instead of copying his. Or you could have just name dropped his channel to give credit. I am a fan of Benxc but I also was a fan of yours and I still enjoy your content but I don't understand why you're so opposed to give credit to someone else's build? It isn't the game system that people want you to credit, it's the build. And I find this whole defensive post/deleting those comments unnecessary. Again, I still really enjoy your content and appreciate it, but that's just constructive criticism from your viewers and I hope you can kind of see where people are coming from.
Hello, I have a ??? .... so, I've copied several of other players buildings that I love ... I've mostly had to do it in 2 or 3 blueprints due to the size of the buildings and I've not had an issue at all.... until now. This particular building will need to be done in 3 parts and the bottom part is already built .... now I'm having trouble placing the next "layer" of the building... it says "You Can't Place That Here!" when I try to place the blueprint .... Any idea what would cause that to happen? The blueprint is lining up perfectly but I just can't drop it 😫 Thanks in advance for any ideas you may have! Fastest way I got it was recruiting a few Killing Machine enemies and having them plant seeds in a field. Then pick up those seeds and keep repeating. They give you at least 3 hearts for each plant they do. Also it’s a good way to get as many seeds as you want because they plant in a 3x3 area and for every 1 seed you give them, they plant 9, so if you pick them up you pick up 8 additional seeds.
@@cadjr2003 oh thanks for the tip, but doesn't it take it teeny weeny bit too much work for only 3 hearts for each plant. Instead I tried getting a bunch of people and some of those metal slimes.
