In Skelkatraz, I burnt the old lady’s storage room down by accident but she didn’t care lol
Dont forget the glide attack also prevents fall damage so you dont have to control your fall or something
Malroth just staring at your swath of flaming destruction, smiling proudly.
The empire of evisceration condones infernos!!!
@Leonardo Esteban i saw exactly the same comment on another video
How to make the empire of eviscarnation and what does it mean?
@@tanachisan It's just a macho, edgy name that Malroth comes up with in the game.
@@thomaspalazzolo5902 ahaha thats the best one 😂
One thing that took me FAR too long to notice even tho they display the controls on the screen is that when transfering to/from chests you can press LZ/RZ to switch between your bag and inventory bar.
what?? i'm facepalming so hard right now! thank you!!! ^^'
I noticed that after like 150 hours of gameplay, lol. Blew my mind.
That's really handy...
I've been playing since release, you made this comment 2 years ago, and I just learned this.
@@joshpatton757 lol. The golden nuggets hidden in comment sections
I did not know that different foods gave different gratitude points and that magnetic blocks would meld items together. Excellent timing on the video with the release of the PC version. I'm really hoping this will get us some long overdue updates. 😊
Regarding #6 - fun fact and mild spoiler alert - in Skelcatraz, there is a hay pile in the place you use to pass the time. On one of my playthrough, it showcased quite nicely how and why stacking wooden objects near a hay pile was a fire hazard.
There wasn't much left of the pantry when the flames died out.
Oh, I wondered why the pantry disappeared!
K I’ll come back later into the game lol. Just finished the first boss and none of these stuff is even unlocked yet, crazy amount of content
I’m so glad you talked about the echo flute in explorer’s shores. I was trying to use it to find mythril and diamonds in sunny sands and got so confused why it was leading me to the surface. I now know it’s because I hadn’t checked off big palm trees at that point, and they were closer to me than the ores were. I feel so stupid.
I just beat the third island and had no idea you could sprint, make shallow water, scare off ghosts with a torch nor use the echo flute on Explorer Shores...thanks
I managed to visit your island. All your DQ builders 2 are great and I applied some of your tips to improve crops. I have finished all the chapters islands and spent 2 weeks on transforming Green gardens because didn't like the default river. There are lots of things to do before I even considering buying DLC. I want to go finishing. This game is better than Animal Crossing and Harvest moon. Crops management is automated and no annoying villagers. Burning trees is a good tips as helps to harvest the items in the canopy.
Totally agreed :)
The glide attack is helpful in climbing, as it increases your height drastically, move to the block beside, and you are on it
Amazing upload as always Ben. I can't wait to see what the PC community builds!
The glide attack on an ant will 1 hit KO it and give you a trophy as well.
Another great tip for adventuring: bring 1 monster with you. The adult sabercat is my go-to. Riding him is as fast as your run with no stamina depletion, he double jumps, and a walks on water if you keep jumping.
Honestly, the biggest thing from this is being able to do the plunging attack while gliding, It makes traversal way easier, Even though falling damage doesn't kill you, having to wait for you to hit the ground made some things much lower than it needed to be. Thank you man.
I really enjoyed this video as well as several others you did. I appreciate all the helpful tips, tricks and lesser known info. I’ve only the demo currently but between playing and your vids I’m sold on getting this game!
At least now people also know not to place the haystack on grass blocks as they also burn ;)
Yeah let's just see it this way... that's of course what I was going for... 😏
@@BenXC I have a crazy idea... have you tried burning the tree stump on sand? It's possible the fire is set to burn X number of blocks and if it can't burn up, it would burn out sideways instead. -- I was thinking about this without testing it so far after burning trees and bamboo then I saw your yard start on fire as well.
Thanks for the blueprint tip! I hadn't visited other islands for a while and forgot how it works. I have seen people use the kitchen island with the magnetic blocks so that it fits against a wall and looks like counter space instead and doesn't take up as much room. Another thing is the evil idol (fire breathing statues) on Khrumbul Dun can be obtained with the pink wrecking balls. They must be removed the same way once you put them down. They are indestructible otherwise. Another rare item are the guillotines on Skellkatraz island. (On the platform where the daily roll call happens.) Instead of escaping on the ship, you can go back up and loot them.
There is a hole in the walls of the first time you ride a golem. You can mine it out on the right and pass Goldirox right through without triggering the thing. I then used him to smash everything so I didn't have to go through all these processes. The game leaves you a few blocks you cannot smash so the AI flags it as the discovery block. You can also use him to go down the hole and smash the whole hargon area. Just do not get off or he will run back home.
i really like how you linked so many videos together to make sure we can get to the info we want.... thanks
T-T that weapon one depressed me so hard because i missed that
I've seen somewhere that the skeletons in unholy helm (explorer's shores) drop the Thunderbolt sword, it's really rare though...
You can also have a lot of gratitude when you place a lot of totems
The magnetic blocks - you can actually get to them between Krumble-Dun and Moonebrook, before getting that hammer. If you swing around to the right of the ivy wall, about 6 or 7 blocks up from the path there is a patch of chunky chert. You can break that with the previous hammer, and then drop down into that workshop.
Love all your DQB2 videos, very helpful, and the presentation is funny and charming.
Thank you very much! 😊
I'm so happy I got to visit your island I'm a huge fan this meant a lot!!!
Benxc: “In dragon quest builders 2”
Subtitles: “In rehnquist Buddhist”
I did learn a couple new things with the water :D Thats nice stuff :3
Glad I could help :)
Finally found out how to upload my island!!! THANK YOU BEN!!!! 👍👍👍.
On the contrary, how to zoom in/out and to run and all the things you can do in the settings IS *technically* told to you by the game...
I didn't know about the magnetic room in the mountain though. BUT, did you know there's also a hidden citadel under the mountain? Haven't watched all your videos so I don't know if you've found it...
“If you use the attack button with the windbreaker you can climb higher” *So I’m not the only one I’m not lonely*
that vid, was very useflul thank you. i just picked up the game may 15.
7:01 grass I guess...
Didn't know some of these until post game but nice video
@BenXC How can I tell whether I have already picked up the mini medals and the riddle is solved?
The echo flute on your island and others should do an item check on the item/block you have highlighted, so if you wanted the find more gold or marble you could use the echo flute to find the nearest block, in a second mode like the trowels swap mode
It also is forward compatible with any updates, as if they introduced a new block players want a lot of... you could easily ping that block after collecting at least one
Another thing you can do with the magnetic blocks is make rooms no longer register as rooms as well as turn 2 rooms into one to help with room limits
#8 Running.....I blew my GFs mind today when I showed her you could run. She is on Moonbrooke XD
Hahahaha :D
@Abert Solis That may be due to your button settings (you can toggle which shoulder buttons make you look up and down). There are only 3 settings, so mess with the options till ya find the one that works for you. Personally I use the one where R1 looks down and L1 looks up. Then L2 Runs and R2 uses tools.
I didn’t know you could run in my first playthru until the disguise wand in moonbrooke told me “this button will take off ur disguise so don’t run while disguised” and i was like “I can run?”
What happens if you complete a task like somebody asking you to making a inn you do and it would not complete where the character would say that you have completed it even though you have done incorrectly is there any way to fix this besides starting a new game
Are the gold and silver trophies by the board only for PS4 and pc or can I get it on my switch
you used the mission start sound effect at the beginning of every thing, thanks!
Thanks for the tips Ben!
You're very welcome :)
thank you for doing these tips and walk through. In krumbledun I built a rollercoaster above the entire dungeon you get to ride right over the mobs heads. you can go from the beginning to the end with no fights . You have to fix all the tracks anyways might as well make a six flags.
You're very welcome and this is a nice idea to get around :)
Hey ben, got a question for ya! If they ever made another DLC where they have 5 more crops or if it had growing fruit trees, which ones would you hope for? Mine would be apple, orange, cocoa beans, vanilla beans, and peanuts!
Cocoa beans are already in the game if im not mistaken
Oh my. I missed the sword from the broken ship. XO Oh well. Was in awe to see it again. Also, I happened to see your storage system snapshot in game and now here I am seeing it via your vid, OH MY GOSH!! XD
this is very stupid that some items are locked behind area you can no longer return to it.
I always check every corners so i found it myself, but if you are a completionist and you missed that one, your whole savegame is ruined without hacking because you will never have it...
Considering this is behind a 30 hours story wall is also even more infuriating
I missed the badloon boss's banana peel because didn't know it was collectible item. The thunderbolt sword isn't obvious.
@@sammythehamster9093 that’s a collectible item?!?!? i beat furrow field a little while ago and had no idea
This game is now reborn with the PC release! I plan on replaying through it all over again.
Any cross play with PC? I know switch and ps4 can play together haven’t heard about the PC version yet
16:06 I had this problem while I was doing all of the puzzles on Furrowfield in the Jumbo demo on Switch. I forgot to grab one and was so confused for a minute why I had only like one more puzzle to go but didn't have 9 medals. I knew I wasn't miscounting and the guide I was following so I didn't miss any (just helps to keep track) was clearly telling me there were exactly 10, so I had to go back over a few of them to see which one still had the medal in it.
It's easy to get caught up doing something in this game and forget to grab the medal from the plinth. Fortunately it's really easy to find all of them on the first island, especially if you've already played the game once (or twice in my case) before.
Speaking of the demo...
Protip: If you ever messed around with the original limited demo for DQ Builders 2 on Switch or whatever platform before the Jumbo demo released and then you played the Jumbo demo and want to continue from that... you have to delete that old demo data if it's on your system or the game won't let you continue from the Jumbo save data. The old demo's data takes priority and the Jumbo demo save data continue option doesn't appear in the menu. The old demo's save data seems to be classified as Dragon Quest Builders 2 save data and the Jumbo demo itself counts as separate data. It will even say "Jumbo" on it in the data management screen for the Switch. Even still, I was paranoid about deleting my Jumbo demo data and losing my progress, because that's how I am. Overly cautious to an anxious fault.
Here's something I noticed when replaying this game on Steam
Depending on how strong a monster is in some encounters or if there is a lot of monsters that have a lot of health it's actually possible for Malroth to die, the first time it happened it caught me off guard. Don't worry though if you just warp out of the area you are in back to town, he'll be fine.
#19
Place a blue print underwater and the towns people will build it, so you can build a cool under water city and not worry about drowning
Hi! Please, do the 2nd time where you go to the boat in the game is after the jail? Cause actually im at the jail in the game and i really it's after this
3: magnetic block
found out the lumpy chert can be broken with the sledgehammer
there's some lumpy chert above and to the left of the normal entrance
was able to slip in through there no problem
not sure if this is an oversight or not
Hey BenXC if this game gets a lot of mod support, would you do video showcase of those?
I am having trouble and am at the beginning on Nintendo Switch. I cannot empty the toilet to get the night soil out. Can someone direct me to a Nintendo Switch forum for this game and explain what button allows me to empty the toilet (currently just a pot). I do see a green coloured indicator that seems to be telling me my pot is full of the muck.
I do appreciate this video and the fact that he added the Fairies Theme from Legend of Zelda at 17:16
He uses that in almost every video since... i dunno how many months.
@@asra-5180 Ah thanks, I dont usually watch that long... My mistake.
8:58 I'm going to be honest. I played through the game twice without knowing I could sprint by holding down the left trigger.
How do I consume a healing herb or feed my starving character ? He’s hungry and about to faint , first time I played the game was over 2 years ago !
Try doing a glider attack on top of a chair then as you land do sit prompt if done correctly while holding poison needle you will be standing then start attacking but don’t press any other buttons and the end result will be your character flying an inch with every swing in the same direction as your sword arm this is very useful for seeing the inside of a mountain or wall or maybe going out of bounds but try to move and you will be teleported back to the chair
16:47 That was me last week. Went on my 3rd play through and I was stuck at 89 medals. So I had to visit every location and sure enough, I had forgotten to collect a mini medal for solving the puzzle on the lower level of Krumbhul-Dun.
You can also break through the magnetic block cave a little earlier with a Golem, but may not have discovered the ingredients yet to craft more magnetic blocks :)
I got a question for you Ben, are you going to show all unused blueprints in a video? I would love people to see what the game was like in the early stages of development.
Yay! Finally lol! Gonna fafafinish that house for us?
I guess I'll work on that soon :)
Hey Ben again, about mini medals, my question is . How can I know how many medals I have from each Island? Is there a way? By that I would know If I missed a puzzle on an Island
Ben whats that other island with the buggy bug?
You can also get the magnetic bloc recipe with a golem before getting the best hammer so before the end of the game just try not to mess up and destroy the books when you punch the walls
you can also get the recipe in the beginning of the game with the stairs glitch (got a video about it. I think it's called "everything in the demo" or something)
Im so addicted to this game, as if DQB1 couldnt get any better.
I really love the cooking even tho i suck at it in real life, cooking in a game is always is fun & people say the cooking timer on it isnt nessisary?? lol it makes it more fun tho, there are also timers on other things too, like for dyeing things. Like, personaly how BORING would it be tho if everything was just made instantly, like which is kind of most of this game lol🤔. Most cooking games have a timer and i think it just adds to the enjoyability and ancicipation, especially if youre mixing new ingriedence together. If they ever took it out i wouldn't like that.
My othet game, 'My time at portia has atimer in it like that, you have to add all the ingreidence quick before its done cooking or else the dish might end up crap. I LOVE it..
I just found out how to zoom week ago after having the game for 2 weeks. I KNEW there had to be a way to zoom as the other game had it and it just wasnt pushing the right buttons, or combinations.
im still looking for the top right of my screen.. its gone
How do I get magic pencil??
Hey ich liebe deine detaillierten Videos 😊 bei dem Topf ohne Boden kann ich nichts wechseln. Geht das erst, wenn der ein Upgrade hatte?
Here is one more I didn't know until after I finished the game:
-Ever wondered what is the use of all these hearts the villagers give you??
You can RE-Acuire any item if you have acquired it before! you can buy material or block of whatever else!
You just go to the Menu > Builderpedia > items , then select the item you want and buy it using the hearts.
I am not sure when this becomes unlocked but I only found out about it after getting tired of going to shore islands to collect Orichalcum.
"BUT YOU'RE WRONG!"
There is water inside. :)
Lmao.
i already knew about the double jump, and its really cool i always use it for scaling stuff
(later game spoilers bellow)
i was really upset when i couldnt use the glider in the monster place, no magic and whatnot. i had to relearn how to walk again
Just started this it's so fun im a little past finding my first tomatoes in the bogs . Had to go to abandon church to talk to the ghost
dude, that's so helpful
Glad it helped you :)
On Xbox, you need to be careful of the saves. Make sure you save often so that if a save freezes, you can go to the auto save or if the auto save freezes then you are able to go to the regular save. Also be sure that you don’t save while the auto save is saving. Otherwise you have to start again.
Thanks a lot for this video! I've just started playing on PC and didn't know a lot of the things you listed :)
You forgot to include the links to the other videos tho ("click on top right" but there's nothing haha)
Are you German, by any chance? I'm from Germany and your accent sounds a lot like ours :B
Yes, he is
just started the game and got one of your screenshots on the loading screen :B what a coincidence
Glad to hear that. Yeah I implemented all the links a few minutes after upload. They should be there now :)
And yeah I'm from Germany 😅
0:40 top ten things im probably never getting YEAH GET YOU SKILL ISSUE WORDS OUT. YEP
I’m still playing Dragon Quest Builders 2 but this is interesting. I’m on Malhallen
Edit. Omg 3:39 I just passed that part! I need to go back there
i love this game but on switch once you get to end game and wanna enjoy building the frame rate gets so bad it spoils it for me :(
Ah, I thought it’s just mine!
Hmm. Wierd, mine was totally OK.
Did you try leave to other islands?
Maybe you just need to reload them 😁
@@denycast once you start building alot and have alot of detail you will notice it, the more you build the worse the frames get
@@nyosam nope, not just you, there are numerous posts online regarding the rate rate in this game
Kroser Music yeah the frame issue killed the end game for me. It was fun to play through the story at least
Actually, you can't destroy the books of magnets because I tried. It just straight up didn't let me until all 3 books were read.
I always swore the game told me how to sprint. but I think what actually occured is I have a habit of leaning on the shoulder buttons on my switch when im playing and must have at some point lent on the button and discovered I could sprint so now im using it as early as furrowfield farms
The amount of hidden stuff and hidden recipes in this game is mind boggling. The only complaint I have is trying to build and having Malroth getting in the way all the time
How far into the game are you?
Chapter 3
Pretty soon you’ll be able to choose if you want him in the party or not.
SevenIsaCannibal I just hit that point, so much better
when i tried to get the thunderblade i was pressing A but nothing was happening. i figured i was at the wrong pot but i couldnt find any others so i just assume it was bugged for me. o well.
I was that person who played through the game TWICE and never knew how to run. Lol. :)
My cousin didn't know she could run in her game till after she beat it and I showed her by running. XD
Haha I would have loved to see her face ^^
Ben why dont you make a huge Christmas tree with the magnetic blocks and the brown tables. I think it could be awesome with decorations
Wait... how did you get the Dragon Quest block? Is it a mod or something because I use PS4
Go to the PSN store and search for "Dragon Quest Builders 2", there'll be some free items waiting for you :)
Funfact about the magnet blocks (ben already knows about it, so it is for everyone else), at one point in the games development, we were supposed to use them to build a lift in the last Chapter.
Asra - that would have been amazing :(
@@mujiescomedy279 i even found the whole beta ship, that uses the lift.
Looks like I have to get back into messing around on my IoA.
On a side note. Raid shadow legends should make a movie with that CGI they have like damn.
Did you know you can build more than one Buggy? Once you finish it the first time you get the blueprint and can recreate it on any other island.
ua-cam.com/video/8rzhpb-jb1o/v-deo.html @ 2:50
But thanks for telling us, maybe some people also didn't know about that :)
Your base almost looks like mine I'm actually going to demolish the top and rebuild everything underground my crops and everything 🤣 I just think that will be cool . Let the irrigation flow from above ground underneath and do something different on top . Maybe 3 payer basement I feel like it's to small on top
How do you keep them welded passively?
What exactly? (Video is pretty old and my memory needs to be refreshed^^)
@@BenXC oops i also made an error in my typing there my bad.. i wanted to ask how you keep your people well fed, it's sad to see the villager just staring at their table looking hungry :D
@@RunawayOrange just make sure there's food in chests nearby, ideally in a kitchen. Even a cabbage will do to feed one. I just found my farmers were storing food in a different chest and had 350 cabbages I didn't know about.
Is the zoom supposed to work on switch? Because when I 'click' the right stick, it just switches between 3rd and 1st person mode
You need to hold it when you click it in. Then it should work.
@@BenXC yeah, thanks for the info, I experimented a bit afterwards and realised it myself though ^^'
is there another way to get the thunderbolt blade? There has to be right? The game wouldn’t do that to me.
It's a very rare drop from one of the turqoise/purple skeletons on Unholy Holm or the Defiled Isle
BenXC Thanks!
Those villagers died in the boat 😭 except the one girl I was like what 🤯
The lack of roofs disturb me
1 big thing the game doesn’t tell you, the pace of the story really speeds up at the last two chapters....😣
I got to take my time and make furrowfield and krumbuldun into sweet lil towns. But i got to the castle and anytime I tried to build it always got smashed by the constant waves of enemies. Then malhala feels like a forced speed run because the world is falling apart😫
Wish there was a little more post game content besides tablet targets and finding the ark you built for the monsters. I would’ve liked a final island with a few new materials, but mostly, have it full of new npc’s that could do new jobs. We only got one new thing which was fishing but it isn’t even exclusive to a fisherman type villager. Just anyone walks up to water and tadah! They almost always get you a... goldfish😂
Sorry for ranting, but now that I finished the story and am just building, I realized a few faults I have with the game.
1.Villagers feel a little too stale(other than the few unique ones, Babs, Malroth, Lulu is even better than just seeing “hey” in a speech bubble)
2. Combat was a joke most times. It was all Malroth. Should have gotten a couple cool attacks besides the charge up and the attack from your glider.
3. The chisel... why didn’t they make it so diagonals could go up or down? Or for the flat, why not have an option to use this “____” or this “ | “? A wall with half the thickness would make soooo many options. Same with the diagonal having a direction option. You could finally fix those weird issues with roofs, make hanging stalactites and real go nuts making a tree really detailed. Build crazy angles on branches and even make your own root system. 🙃
To finish my rant 🤣 I’ll just say I want Dragon Quest Builders 3 soon
0:27 I noticed a lot of maxed out food stacks, are you using a trainer or is the thing about seeds disappearing after 4 harvests not an issue anymore?
I've noticed the seeds last a lot longer if the NPCs harvest them than if I harvest them. Could just be really strong seeds though.
@@strawberrysky6805 npcs harvesting them has resulted in farms lasting quite awhile for me as well. Its a shame they won't harvest my medicinal leaves for me.
Does the game have a way to manually save?
Yes! 😁
Don't need that hammer for the magnetic block cave, just befriend a Golem and punch it.
I love this game 😊
I’m trying to make a mod where you can go to a battle island, (not moonbrooke) and pit monsters you’ve befriended against other players who have the mod. Also I’m having trouble making every monster befriendable. Any body who could help, or make their own, and send it to me, that would be cool. (Also I’m on the discord server. Join BenXC today.) thanks.
the magnetic blocks finally
Never knew about the Echo Flute. D:
Well that's because it's a thing *drumroll* ... the game doesn't tell you :D
