Wow-I never thought I'd see THIS again! Actually this pilot received very high ratings. After "Roots 2" and "Fame", everyone was in love with Irene Cara; I was surprised this wasn't added to CBSs fall schedule.
She is a beautiful artist.
I was a kid when this came out. i loved irene and remember waiting impatiently for this show to come out. I remember they kept showing commercials with her and a whistle.

This was an unsold pilot that aired on NBC in August 1981 {apparently, after her "breakout role" in the 1980movie "Fame", programming executive Fred Silverman thought she was "star material", and tried to "shove" her into a sitcom format- by the time this aired, he was gone from the network}.
WAIT! WAIT! WAIT! She said her rent was only $47.00! Good times people, good times.
What irkes me the most is how the music industry stole Irene's money.I mean you find worldwide fame with Fame 'out here on my own' and Flashdance and some greedy criminal keeps your money.Imagine a room full to the top of $100 bills.There are millions of dollars in there belonging to Irene Cara.And they keep it for themselves.
Irene Cara had to go to court and represent herself and she still WON over a million dollars.
The music Industry must have been worst than the wall street criminals we have today.

I don't see why there was only 3 episode's. I've been upset since I was real short during the 1960's about T.V. shows and cartoons. I brought it up after My Internet and America Online was online. Warner Bros had Elmer Fudd and Porky Pig who were Baby's. Elmer Fudd use to have a Double Barrel shotGun. Porky Pig use to go through alot. They were aired for Children.
I came up with an Analogy Cartoon about The Yellow Man made sponge used mainly in the kitchen. God created a Sponge in Nature that lives under The Ocean. They called it Sponge Bob.
I came up with a Character called Buzz Lightyear for toystory. I thought it might help. To infinity and beyond.
I like Irene Cara I feel bad the only songs I heard were Fame and FlashDance oh what a Feeling in the late 1970's on the radio. It was a tuff time for me, I found strenght in them. I didn't know what she looked like and I believe Ive seen at least 7 number 1 hit songs on Back dated Video since the early 1980's!
I feel so bad I could have been listening the whole time.
I had to do real hard work while being violated even My Internet and America Online, my clean water and indoor AC and more along with all my songs were stolen along with the revenue even after I called The WhiteHouse in 1966 when I was 5.

Probably the biggest mistake she made. I mean this isn't bad, but if I were her, I would've reprised the role of Coco.
Well said Michael.Coco Hernandez role defined the 80's.It started it all and Irene Cara was on top of the world after the fame movie and music from that movie.
I new series about Coco Hernandez would have been no1 for sure all around the world.
Michael Werbovetz everbody loved Coco , the real Coco never would have been that naive in the first place maybe as freshmen but as senior spending all your time in mid town, surrounded by hustlers, i remember one time someone approached me , beautiful Latinas understand very young that everyone wants to screw them , the real coco would have cut that man off; probably stab him ,
