Thanks so much for watching! I hope you found this video on everything we need to prepare for vendor events helpful. Be sure to find me over on Instagram & TikTok, so we can connect there as well!
THANK YOU SO MUCH I'M A NEW AUTHOR AND HAVE BEEN PLANNING FOR MY VENDOR EVENT FOR THE LONGEST, THIS JUST LET ME KNOW I'M ON THE RIGHT PATH AWESOME IDEAS, GREAT MINES THINK ALIKE, THANK YOU!!!!
Eevi, I decided to begin offering my book at a huge children's event for children's literature. Your video is a godsend! You talked about the items I'm interested in sharing, and how to set up your vendor table and other items. I'm definitely going to offer stickers, and coloring pages with crayons. I'm so grateful for the links you've provided. . You are so right about saving to purchase vendor space. You did an incredible job with this video to help authors like me! Blessings, Cynthia Gould
Cynthia, that's fantastic! I'm so very happy to hear that you are going to use the information from this video. And thank you so much for your kind words!
Great video, Eevi. Even though I've done events for a few years, I learned some new ideas. One word of warning for your tribe of authors: I have seen for-profit vendors at Virginia craft events who do NOT charge sales tax for their goods. This is against the law and I strongly advise against it! Three years ago I paid for an hour of an accountant's time. She helped me set up my sales tax account so that I am in compliance. I pay my taxes quarterly and know I never have to worry about that issue. Also, I made an Excel checklist of every item that I take to events. When an event is looming, I simply print out a copy of the checklist. That really helps me be organized when I'm staging my stuff in the kitchen the night before!
Thanks so much, Norma! And thank you so much for sharing these wonderful tips! I hope you are having such a wonderful holiday season! And happy, happy new year!
Thanks Eevi! I had to watch this one twice as there was so much info! Excited my first vendor event is coming up in 2 months. I truly appreciate you sharing all your knowledge and most especially that you are encouraging, too. It's a win-win either way. :-)
What a fantastic video, Eevi!! Definitely one of my favs. It was packed full of so many fun, great tips! I am so excited to purchase many of these items now. I love the cut out idea, the stickers recommendation, etc. I will check out the other plushie links, as I found out that Budsies is quite pricy. Haha. So thanks for sharing those! I also love how you broke the video down into the three sections. I seriously might watch this again and take notes. LOL. You rock!
This was such a great video!! I have so many “best” takeaways. All of the information was great and I’m so happy that you provided links to all the sources you gave. So valuable. ❤
Awww...this has been helpful...getting ideas about how to market and promote my book now. My niece does a weekend sales table at an open market in her town so I would love to be able to visit her and have my book to sell with her, of course helping with the expenses of the table. Thank you.
Wow, thanks Eevi for such a useful vid! I've sold other folks' goodies at vendor events, but never mine. I only have one children's book at this stage, but may consider attending a local market once I have my next book off the press as well. Some of the ideas here are new to me, but look super doable and beneficial. And I need to do my one-sheet, so will definitely check out the template. Thanks for all you do and share with us here EEvi. 😊
Hi Eevi, Thank you for the amazing video. You mentioned the sticker promotion if they shared on social media. How does this work? When and how do you get them the sticker? Thanks again, this was very helpful.
Hi Kara! Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm so glad you're enjoying my videos. I talk a bit more about that sticker option around 13:25, where we would simply attach our sticker with a piece of tape right on that card we are distributing. I so hope this helps! Have such a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year!
Eevi, thank you for this helpful, information packed video! Do you have any suggestions on how to estimate the number of author copies to order/take to events? 15-30 has been enough for farmers markets. I'm considering a large fall or Christmas event and have no idea how many I'd need. Also, do you have any suggestions for what to do if we do happen to sell out before the end of the event? Thanks again for all your help!
I'm so happy to hear this has been so helpful! If you are already selling 15-30 copies during smaller farmers market events, I would go ahead and at least double it for larger events, especially since we can always use any copies we didn't sell for the next event. It's always really helpful to have flyers/ business cards on hand, so you can share those (perhaps attached to a lollipop), in case we should sell out early. Have such a wonderful weekend!
Hi Eevi, Thank you so much for your excellent content. I see that your feedback sessions are fully booked. Will that be available in the future? My book is done but I want to change some things around before I publish it and need your expertise.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Christina! This means so much to me. I'm currently fully booked, but whenever times open up, they will be displayed on my booking site. Happy, happy Sunday!
Eevi I am having trouble & wondering if you might be able to help me again, I am linking my hardcover to KDP from ingramspark & for some reason it does not show "prime" as an option. It is on amazon & linked but it says out of stock basically with no projected delivery date. Could this have something to do with my royalty rate I have set up?
Because our books that were set up over on IngramSpark aren't 'inhouse' printing jobs, we rarely see the prime option on those books, unless Amazon has them in stock. I wish it weren't so, but unfortunately, seeing the 'out of stock' is quite common for books that have been newly published around the holiday season, because that is one of IngramSpark's busiest periods.
I have paid fees of $40, $70, and $185. Here is the type of event that was NOT successful: Family day events with free stuff being offered. I went to two of these this year, and most people stopped only to ask what I had for free! Warrenton Day Fall Festival (the $185 fee) was my most successful event two years in a row where I sold 100 books at each event. Other festivals have produced sales of 30-40 books. I always ask how the organizers advertise their events. Santa's Village and Crafts here in Warrenton (39 years!) makes sure it's well advertised and thus it is really well attended. I hope this helps.
Thanks so much for watching! I hope you found this video on everything we need to prepare for vendor events helpful. Be sure to find me over on Instagram & TikTok, so we can connect there as well!
Eevi, you are AMAZING! Please continue to give us your priceless knowledge as we too find our author-footing in this world. Thank you, thank you! ❤🎉😊
That's so kind of you to say! I'm so happy you find my information so helpful! Happy, happy new year!

What does everybody consider a reasonable vendor fee and a good number of attendees? What type of events were your most successful ones?
