I honestly prefer- 15 boxes kits for my grown children and other family members. If after sharing with them many times before. So when that huge Chicago storm when had many years ago that was so bad that folks was stuck on the way. Then when covid hit I only had a few I had to help out… but now, I don’t worry anymore because now they all know better. Honestly however… I’ll always keep at least 10 box kits because you ever know what might happen. Pammie from Chicago Illinois. P.S I believe we all should plan for 10 people we care about to show up

I agree that there is strength in numbers, but also that my preps are just that...mine. I put in the work. I have enough preps for my family plus 5 people I know would come over. I am their prep. Not because I feel I have to, but because I have the space and have worked out that plan with them. SHTF - COME OVER! They don't have the space at their homes, but they all bring education and skills to the table. Medical knowledge, foraging, building skills, hunting etc. Plus they helped pay for their part of the supplies.

My son (8) was concerned about his best friend with everything going on to the point where it was stressing him out thinking about them going hungry. He now takes part of his chore money and adds a bit of food back for his friend and his family every week. I reached out to the boys dad and he was grateful for the kindness. Romans 10:8-13
      8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

I pick up backpacks at yard sales - never paying more than $1 - and have them all tucked away in a tote. Should SHTF, I can put a few essentials (flashlight, water bottle, water filter straw,, etc) along with a few baggies of food and hand them out. The totes are great - useful as a table and to keep things out of mud/etc but backpacks let someone have their hands free for pushing a cart or stroller, etc.

It's a nice kit for anyone. Thank for sharing not only the kit but your compassion. We made a 72 hour emergency kit that includes most of the items you showed for a couple who struggles to pay condo fees and panhandles. They said they put it on a top shelf as a "just in case". They now have a way to make some hot meals and beverages and can stay warm and nourished if the power goes out. It took a long time to find items that we could include that were decent quality but affordable. It's doable.

This is a really generous and thoughtful action on your part! That’s a great kit! If your kin/guest doesn’t have a backpack or piece of luggage to put the goodies in, then something is way wrong. The wool blanket and some cordage could be used to make a hasty carrying roll for most of those gifts. The other items could go into a heavy duty garbage bag. Hopefully, they would be able to get to a safe destination. If not, they’ll be desperate and scared, then probably ask for help again in 3-4 days.

A thought based on personal experience. I no longer leave batteries in any electrical equipment as they can leak if left in for too long. And if the leakage is enough, it will be a challenge if at all possible to get the item working again. I grab tape and wrap the batteries to the side, or I’ll wrap tape around the battery at the connection points and install the battery so it’s easy peasy to get said instrument working very quickly.

Now I tape 4 batteries to the outside of each radio to be put in when needed. And that way, of they leak or corrode, it won't be inside the device. I have the charge kind as well, but like battery operated in case the grid goes down and they can't get charged.

But I would encourage friend to remain on the property and have a tent ready to pitch for him. Having outposts with another set of eyes and a strong back may benefit you. You covered most of the 10C's but I don't recall seeing a cotton bandana and a canvas needle. Also we are assuming friend knows how to use this equipment, else written instructions may be helpful. Overall, good job, I like it. Let's hope friend appreciates it.

This week we expanded the garden by 10% and put up new fence around it. We planted 13 berry bushes, rows of beets, carrots, radishes, onions and marigolds aroung the entire garden. Previously planted were potatoes, garlic, 3 other berry bushes and another apple tree. Still to plant, sweet potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, squash, zucchini, cucumbers, caulliflower and sunflowers. Some of those are sprouting under lights, others will be planted directly.
I also received 9 cubic yards of free wood chips and started spreading them, watered and turned the compost. Oh, and watered all our new bushes and trees. They were bare root sticks a week ago and they all have new leaves.
Total under cultivation, 1 nut tree, 13 fruit trees, 21 berry bushes, a grape vine and 1,700 square feet of garden on our half acre. And we still have room for the dog to chase balls.
What have you guys been up to to prepare?

First mistake, not answering the door with a gun. A lot of people will say not to help out someone who hasn't prepared. They don't take into account a friend or family member who may have prepared but lost everything. If someone shows up that could be an asset in this situation, either thru a skill they have or access to something your family may need. Having a kit full of spare items to help get them started, like your kit, could go a long way in establishing a beneficial relationship.

The intro was hilarious because I know some ppl just like that lol!! But on the serious side, I am torn on the firearm part tho. I think that having a spare kit or 2 is a great idea for the purpose in question, but on the other hand I also can see the dangers involved too. I think it would have to be done on a case by case basis. If it's family that might sway me more to do so. Then again whose to say if you turn them away with nothing, that might anger them more and definitely insight revenge. Definitely something to think about tho. The thing is, the ppl you give the gear to may or may not know how to use it. So I think that you should probably put some kind of information packet in there or a good survival book or something. I mean it would be a little late to start learning when it all goes up and the learning curve would be horrendous, but they would have to start somewhere. Kinda like the give a man a fish parable. Great video!!

I do have a couple extra guns but it is for a member who say was at work and could not get to their stash before coming to my place due to riots/road blocks. We have tried to plan for this the best we can but in a SHTF things can become real DYNAMIC in a hurry.

…this is intelligent thinking and planning imo. I know without a doubt you will get some heat about it but it’s my full belief there is a large spectrum of situations we prepare for and not all of them are full blown end of the world, sit on your rice and beans with a rifle scenarios. I now put back some stuff in the event people close to me are in need such as my neighbors who have three little kids. Not the kids fault their parents don’t believe this is important and personally I’m not the kind of man that could watch them starve to death knowing I could do something about it. Yes there could be circumstances where it comes down to your family vs others and tactics would change but it’s a personal decision in many real life emergencies that do happen daily around the world. I checked on and helped elderly peolpe in my neighborhood during the cluster of 2020 that were getting pushed out of the way in stores by turds grabbing last pack of food on shelve and realized the not giving a rats ass about anyone in my circle just isn’t reality for me. It came from the Bubonic Plague here in Britain when undertakers (morticians) walked around with handcarts saying; “Bring out your dead”. They were then thrown onto the handcarts with the other bodies they had collected and taken away to be burnt to try and keep infection under control. Let’s hope we don’t see that again eh?! Depending on the speed of the situation, part of our ‘charity’ could be perishable foods that we wouldn’t be able to eat or preserve in time.
If electricity and generators went out, your neighborhood could grill out all of the food that would go bad.
You could buy a little goodwill with your neighbors.
And, you won’t be tipping your hand that you’ve been preparing longer term supplies for SHTF.
If the needy are people who will be remaining in your area, fishing gear and garden seeds might be a good idea as the recipient might feel obliged to give you a share of what they produce with those things.

    Bad idea,
    1. They know you got supplies
    2. You gave them supplies
    3. When they're desperate they'll come back for more
    4. When you refuse to give them supplies again they wont be your friend anymore
    5. That gun you gave them might just be the death of you
Morality only exists for as long as people aren't desperate and remain civil, but when you watch your family starving to death, drips of water being rationed out, people we are friends with will kill to provide for their family's even if it means killing you and your whole family in the process, thats why I say be stern and tell them to go away and or you will put a bullet in them, dont think of them as your friend anymore because they could come back days later and be the reason why you and your family die. That's the harsh reality. We all want to have morality in those times but the truth is those have to be the first to go in order to keep your family safe from outside threats, its a day everyone should prepare for but hope never arises.

If I do anything, it will be items I do not have to pay for like tin can hobo stoves and egg carton starters...things I have already and other people have already but just didn't fit into a bag to run with. I have already given my close family those things along with a purchased emergency kit for their cars just to have on hand. My family is also cagey, so if they were prepping already I wouldn't know it. They know I have limited space and funds by the gifts I have given them. I think a 72 hour kit would be nice to have for someone else who might show up to give me a ride out of an evacuation situation since I don't have transport. It could be my contribution to gas money and something to barter. Maybe I'll just put some home made stoves and starters in little bags along with my excess water bottles etc. At least it's something to give when someone else has absolutely nothing. I also pick things up at garage sales for little to no money that would be useful in an emergency. One thing that comes to mind is plastic shopping bags and produce bags. They roll up small and can be used to bag trash or keep things dry. Plastic emergency ponchos at garage sales along with the things in the free boxes like regular water bottles are a good idea along with a small sewing kit and 1st aid boo boo kit if you don't have money for gear. I guess my point is that it doesn't have to cost much money to prepare with what you already have by just packing it away for easy access. Preparing your brain and arranging your stuff will do the most good, not going to someone else's home looking for help you could have given yourself possibly risking life and limb getting there just to find out they cannot or will not help you. What they have might not be as nice as something you can get for yourself or simply make for yourself ahead of time. My family kind of turned up their noses at my attempts to help with gear even when I bought it for them. I'm done. I would gladly take a ride out of town if I needed one and they offered however, and I would have a car to load all my gear, preps and the cat in as well. If I don't get a ride, no more stuff.

that really isn't the mindset if shtf happens. what you're describing is having slaves for labor. you aren't going to last very long, and i hope you don't see yourself as a leader.

The kit can defuse a tense or violent situation, but nobody gets a gun. It WILL be turned against you, later.

Good idea. Some preppers have ridiculous fantasies of mowing down anyone who comes to their door for help.

There's an awful lot of people who are awake but have struggled to get enough for themselves and maybe not quite enough. If you can afford it, that's a good gesture.

I thought about it and being a follower of Jesus Christ we would help other brother and sisters. The problem with helping others is you put a target on your head and show sympathy to others. When things go to hell people’s true colors come out and what really lies in their hearts. For me it’s about bartering with others or providing them with goods for a trade of services. Don’t forget everybody is stronger in numbers and there will people coming to take what’s yours. So having an extra person fighting against the enemy is always a good thing. In the end the only thing that matters is Jesus Christ and for us to know he is always with us and watching over us. Psalm 91🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
