- In the short amount of time i have owned the Audi RS6 Performance I have already racked up 5,000 miles on the car. I thought this was the perfect time to share with you what it it's like living with the RS6, it's awesome acceleration, incredible exhaust sound and beautiful interior...except for the cup holders!

What do you mean by winter beater? The rs6 is very fit for driving in any climate.
the host said that this car is used to tackle winter in the UK, that's what he uses it for, of course we know it is for every occasion and for every climate...

Hi James. I finally saw you today, on my travels. You were in the RS6, aka 'The Stealth Bomber'. You were sat at the lights on the A519 where you can turn left for Stobarts or go straight on to the roundabout for the A500 D Rd and J15 of the M6. I double 'beeped' you as i went past. I have watched so many of your videos and had slowly picked up from small clues from what you had said and the videos of the roads you are driving around on that i thought you may live in the Staffs/Shropshire border area.
It was funny seeing you; slicked back hair, your round sunnies and the beard.You weren't chatting to yourself so i guess you weren't filming at the time. But i only really noticed you because of the plate on the car. Otherwise at a glance or look it's just an Audi estate ;-)
Anyway i was on my way to Soudley near Cheswardine..It was cool to see you, lovin all your work you are doing here on YT.
I'm sure i'm speaking for the vast majority here, but i must thank you for all you work and effort in making great content for us. Looking forward to the next vid. Thank you James. :-)
Since when is Audi coming from Stuttgart ?? Audi comes from Ingolstadt.

Actually James is more right then you. The RS models are produced in Neckarsulm, which is about 60km (don´t know it in miles) away from Stuttgart.

Audi should just go all out and put a v12 in some of the rs models (rs6, rs7) and give us some 700-800+ bhp. Just because they can

actually they did in the previous rs6 and even this engine of the rs6/rs7 ist capable of 700-800 HP ;) with only ecu.
hell no RS models. even with V6 and V8 have problem with understeer and u want to put big V12 that would be really bad.
Audi's problem With ouversteer is mostly because of the quatro system not allowing Wheel slip in the rear, not because of engine placement/weight.
Change the wheels on the F12 and take it drifting?

We need a New update on this beast James, from a ownership point of view (maintenance etc). I have read in the forums that a great portion of the owners complaint about the rims bending! Have u had any problems?

I feel your pain James, the cup holder situation is important. I would have expected more from RS6 in cup holder department.. But alas it has plenty of room for baby in the back
And 2 dogs in the boot!!! Nothing better when your pulling away from a BMW M3/4 and all the BMW driver can see is your taillights and 2 labradors slobbering up the back windows!!!!!

Before buying the RS6 (which is lovely), did you consider any of the exotic 4 seater/practical cars? Rapide, FF or Panamera?
The FF is like £150k plus and he already has a F12 which is a lot better than the FF.
Panamera would be nice.
Well, this is over 110k in this spec.
I honestly prefer the looks of the RS5 over the Panamera. The RS6, even the normal A6, have such agressive looks now. I love audi's design at the moment.

hey james great video as usual but in the beginning you made a mistake... you said something like the stuttgart-symphony but only mercedes and porsche are from stuttgart, audi´s headquarter´s in ingolstadt and the other great german audi-factory is in Neckarsulm :)

I totally agree with the cup holder! I said that from day one of owning the A6. The NG Saab 9-5 was the same. I don't understand why they couldn't put the cup holders at the front where the sliding section is. Awesome vid!

I own an Audi A6 myself and I have to agree with the rant at the end about the cup holders they are absolutley shite and considering that my A6 is an exec car, no where near the value of an RS6 but my A3 previously had better position cup holders that were more practical.

+1. The RS6 Kombi is the uber ski-wagon. The 100 mi btw. Denver and Vail was never quicker. O those douche bags at Audi USA can't make a business case to import any S class, RS class wagons ... Our MY95.5 UrS6 wagon was a hoot !

Word of advice for anyone buying cars and watching reviews. NEVER take what a person says for fact IF IT'S THEIR CAR. It WILL be biased.
I am not sure if it is the Quattro system that makes grip better in an Audi (RS6 in this case) than a Range Rover. I honestly think it is the lower weight, less unsprang weight (tyres + rims) and lower centre of gravity. These things that make SUVs really pointless unless someone really needs a proper SUV needed to overcome deep potholes big bumps and provide better visibility over traffic. Or just make someone feel "safer" and more "important".
I think the Germans don't like drinks/food in the car and thus spitefully refuse to give you good options for dealing with food/coffee in hopes you'll give up and stop eating drinking in the car. My 2005 A8L W12 has the same problem and that is supposed to be a super luxury cruising sedan even more so than an RS / S / A - 6
Ones in the back are the same except the ones in the armrest which pop out are excellent !
What you said about Quattro made me giggle a little bit. How you made having quattro on those roads sound like a day and night difference. Maybe the roads get "greasy" from time to time in such a way that a motorcyclist may have a few issues, but night and day difference with a car? Nah, come on. Try real winter roads and quattro, THEN you'll now what a huge difference it makes. The old C4 A6 I had some years ago was killer in the snow!
Not trying to be mean or anything and for the record I'm a huge Audi fan with the RS6 as my absolute dream car (although I've been drooling over the new RS3 a fair bit lately). The Audi I have now is my third and when I'm done with my Master's degree I'll definitely change it in for my fourth...
Dude, check your doors! The bottles go in the side of the doors and are proof as hell there, even through a quick run.
The cupholder i'll give you that, they are crap. My 2011 S4 had great cupholders and were about twice as deep as the ones of the RS6. Don't know why the guys from Ingolstadt didn't go with this solution.
It's really sad that now a days RS is changing...
if they put a v6 in next RS6 it's game over...(I don't think this can happen but who knows)

Random cylinder miss fire, notorious spark plug failure of ngk, Bosch and many other brands, which causes the spark ground electrode to rip off and go into the cylinder bank, causing serious fuckin damage to the engine. You don't have to believe my words, check out a tuner called sportmile on Facebook and what shit they are dealing with each day. Not to mention that the rs6/7 shares the same drife shaft with an audi q5 3.0 tdi. I love the design, love the power, the interior, but it's a fuckin money pit and a very faulty car from the factory.
Based purely on this video, I have to ask, "how much Italian blood flows through Mr JWW's veins?". It's not that the constant hand gestures mean anything, surely?
The cupholders are crap.Long continental runs you want water,and the missis wants water,if you put both in the cupholders you cant rest your left arm properly and you cant reach the MMI knob.Maybe popping down to Tescos its not a problem but driving 700 miles in one go it becomes a pain in the ass,Ive a E class now,the cupholders are further forward even coffee cups can be put in them and you can still reach everything,peace in the car now.Ok in winter the damn thing wont move but the Audi needs winter tyres on to gain much in snow.Then its unstoppable.

I know cup holders ! Car designers should really put more thought into them ! I have only ever had 1 car with good cup holders and that was a Fiat ! shocking I know. Mr Current car only has 1 cup holder. 1? what if i want 2 drinks ? or a passenger has one, haha. Great video by the way keep up the good work !
So so true with Audi get the line right and mash the throttle out of a corner just after the apex and the reward is massive massive smiles as it just digs in and hurls you out. BIG BIG FUN when you know how :-)

Our family had. Q7 4.2 and that was Quattro and my mums was well scared of it so she drives really seems able and we went round a corner basically drift and that what made her sell it because how bad the 4x4 system was ... And that's why we know have a surcharged Range Rover because how good the 4x4 system is on and off road 😂

Its true even a Golf R etc up feel unbreakable :D Oh yeah the cupholders are much more generous on the golf R not sure if they are in the way in the Golf for a start they set back more and rotated 90 degrees. Long drinks can be in the was like a large cup of Coke. My Corolla had pop out cup holders but were higher so they slashed around more.
Absolutely stunning vehicle. Quattro gmbh definitely created a monster of a vehicle.
Hey JWW! You are right about the Quattro system + it's effectiveness on winter roads; they excel at bad weather and in combination with the power in the S/RS they are formidable machines! Until recently I had an S4 Avant (V8) - I live on the Welsh borders, and it was unbeatable for its' combination of grip and acceleration; such a usable performance car. My last great experience in it before selling it, I was following a Lancia Stratos kit-car (actually a Lister Bell STR). The roads were very wet, and I was pleasantly surprised to come up behind this STR on the last 5 mile stretch home. The sound from the STR exhausts was awesome (I think an Alfa V6) and I could see it had so much mechanical grip it flew through the bends with barely any roll or slip. But the S4 had enough power and grip for me to keep up and enjoy the view until I reached my house, as he flew of down the valley! I'd love an RS6 at some point, ever since seeing the C5 RS6 Plus in purple years ago in a mag. Great car and great channel! Thanks.

I have an ageing 08 A6 and it's cup holders are exactly the same. 9 days out of 10, it dont matter, but my god when you need them they are completely atrocious.
But I would love, love ,love to own this car. I could never just have a test drive as I never could afford to buy one, and I'd always regret that everytime I got into my own car.

My Omega wagon has terrible cupholders too. Out of a 5 door wagon, there's only one and it's under the armrest and if you're on a down hill the armrest will fall on your drink. There are more ash trays than cupholders in that car.

On the score of the position of the cup holders JWW it is not trivial because it does detract from such a good driving machine.
It is something I think Audi needs to look at as it is just the same in my S5.

I have seen this car in London and I had to stop on my cycle and knock one out. The colour looks 10 times better in real life view. ✌️
i´ve got the same car, besides the fact, that mine has a v6 tractor engine. the cupholders work fine. just pull that arm rest a little bit up. and if you have bottles as big as you described them, there is a dedicated spot for them in every door. in 9:05 you see it on the left door right in front of that door pull thing.
If it makes you feel any better, the cupholder would piss me off just as much, what use is a car without decent cupholders?!
The cup holders are placed wrong in almost every car, especially in manuals you just can't have a bottle in it and change a gear propperly.
It's good thing about the cup holders, you should not be drink driving, don't drink and drive it's against the law,

buy a audi 2.3 5cyl(any model) and add a decent size turbo

Funny but the coffee cup thing is a big deal. Even ford have awesome cup holders so no excuses is there.
A Spitfire sounds smooth - no pops or crackles. Your car sounds more like a party of clay pigeon shooters in the distance.

I´d love to see this car go nuts on the german autobahn as so many other car channels do on YT. But the RS6 is missing out a bit, maybe you can fill that gap.
