    I do like how we're starting to get to the point about how even a car from a couple of years ago has dials on the dashboard and we're getting all teary eyed reminiscing about them.

    I've had one from new end of 2017 and have done just over 33,000 miles in it. I agree with a lot of what you said Jay, however what I think needs to be added is the ride. Mine runs on the air suspension and it runs over most bumps brilliantly. I have bent two alloys on pot holes, but that's due to the size and lack of profile of the wheels. In terms of driving, when you're really up it on a windy road, it begins to feel a bit cumbersome but besides that, it's one of the fastest point to point non-sports cars on the road. When you are in a rush to get somewhere, it can cover ground like you wouldn't believe, it's the ultimate getaway vehicle My two favourite things about this vehicle are.. 1: it's road presence is such that people really get out of your way, the aggressive but subtle styling seems to radiate to tell people to get out of its way. I feel the C8 styling goes too far in this aim. 2: On a motorway and dual carriageway especially you are on the same performance level as a Porsche 991 turbo S, most Ferrari and Mclaren's. When you have all your luggage in the back and you keeping up with an MP4-12C down the A1 it doesn't half put a smile on your face. After nearly 4 years of ownership I feel like it's time to move on and when I do I know I will miss it.

      @@redemptionx2918 Well.... I've gone down a different tact. The tax benefits for myself have become too great to resist so I've ordered for my sins a VW ID3 for commuting and going around town. Did you sell yet? If so, I imagine you did incredibly well if you left it for a few months after this post. I've been keeping my eye out for this age and model but they seem so few and far between. Alas used prices have scuppered my chance to buy one used at the right time so I went with a lesser BMW new instead.

    Even the older RS6 is tempting, if you need space and comfort.
    You’re right-engines are better than ever, and if “uncorked”, would be quite something. The WLTP is extremely tight, but still not as tight as what’s coming. We can expect lots of turbos, and electric motors to make up the difference.

    Hi Jay, thanks for calling out what ive been saying for years, turbo lag has not gone away - I've got a rs6 performance and agree it is the better of the bunch but it is still there if you catch it off guard, however it nothing compaired to some of the M cars and 100% on the 992. Ive also got a 991 gts n/a and whilst off the pace in performance to the 992 it is so much more enjoyablee to drive. Question - did you notice the cylinder deactivation in the rs6? The only critique i have of t he car is the car going into 4 cyl mode between 1500 and 3300rpm, annoying when you want to listen to the v8.

    • @JayEmmOnCars

      I didnt really drive it enough or in the right conditions to get cylinder deactivation to happen

    • @dutoitm1
      @dutoitm1 4 роки тому +1

      Scott, the sound insulation in the car is really good so at those low revs while you're cruising you don't hear the V8. So when the cylinder deactivation kicks in you don't actually notice it (only notice it from the driver's display). It's not annoying at all, and as soon as you want the full 600 horses again they're there in a heartbeat. It's really impressive. The conditions for the CD are finicky, takes about 3 seconds to kick in at constant revs and then even a light touch of the throttle can bring the other 4 cylinders online. I found you only really saved decent fuel on a smooth run on the motorway, with 32mpg possible at 75mph average.

I think back to the cars of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s and every car had character (even the Allegro :) ) Each one easily recognisable from the next. The cars were workable and the layers of performance were distinguishable...like when an i, a V or a turbo really mean’t something.There’s a time and a place for effortless driving and comfort of course, and I like that...but when it comes to today’s performance cars it just doesn’t get my juices flowing. There was in an inherited defect on these cars they put a filter in the oil feed to the turbos and this filter would get clogged up and blocked and would starve the turbos of oil whether it was done on purpose or whether they thought it was a good idea basically it cost you around £10,000 to replace both turbos all because of a very small filter on the pipe that feeds oil to the turbo it could be a slightly newer RS6 RS7 that be careful if you buy one of these cars you need to replace these filters or cleaning them out if possible apparently you have to strip down half the engine everything off the top I just thought I'd tell you as I watched the video a few months ago regarding an unhappy man and a happy bankster giving out a high interest bank loan it's a win win for some people and I lose lose if you're unfortunate to have this problem on your RS6 RS7 just a bit of information that people should know about especially if you are about to buy one good luck and may God bless your car because you're going to need it !!!!!!!! 🙏
