How To MakeThe Five "Mother Barbecue Sauces"
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 лип 2019
- A friend of mine recently sent me a vinegar based barbecue sauce and I hadn't seen any locally so I decided to research a little history. I found there are five basic "mother sauces" regionally around the country and decided to try to make a basic version of each one.

great video and history lesson on the 5 sauces. I think the mustard one peeks my interest the most. Look forward to seeing what you used each on and what you and the camera girl thought of each.
Thanks Louis thee two I boiled hadn’t cooled yet and I didn’t want to make the vid too long so no taste test on camera. The mustard sauce was good tho for sure. Many uses for that. I’ll try to do a review soon.
Loved this Vid and your explanation of the different recipes. When You taste the PIF sauce....You will see it is a vinegar base with a peppery kick. It's very Good! 👍

Brilliant idea Gary! I’ve made all but the Kentucky black sauce, just recently finally made the white sauce and it’s good stuff. Can’t wait to see the taste tests!

Great you are supporting Shane also of course :)
Thanks Lasse I definitely learned a ton from this. Many many ideas. I have someone close to me affected as well. It's a horrible disease.
Fantastic video ya nailed the sauces 👍👍
Thanks Lee I especially like the mustard one. Had it on tater tots the other day and shrimp. Delicious! Plan to use it in potato salad etc too.
The carolina vinegar sauce that you did is more of a western Carolina sauce. The eastern part or the state wouldn't put any ketchup in it
Donald thanks so much for that feedback. This was a really broad effort to represent the regional variations from a regular guy. Even in my household our preferences differ lol. At least it’s a base we can use to develop that “secret “ recipe to pass on lol. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Nice video! How long do these usually keep for?
I usually keep them in the fridge for up to a month or so. I used the mustard sauce in my potato salad a couple weeks ago and it was awesome. Thanks for taking the time to watch!
10:54 ... when you picked up that ketchup, you moved on from Eastern NC sauce. This is more a Piedmont NC/SC Light Tomato sauce. Ketchup in the east is taboo.
Good catch Jay. I’ve learned a lot since then. Thanks for taking the time to watch!
:)
Thanks for taking the time to watch!
