It appears the Peugeot has decided that eight is great, as all of its core models (from the 208 small car to the 5008 seven-seat SUV) have stuck with the same numerical model designation for about a decade now. That means this, the latest Peugeot 308, is the third model from the French brand of the same name. In this review, though, we'll show why eight is great. Or something like that.
Despite the huge popularity of family SUVs these days, hatchbacks such as the 308 are still big business. Standing out from the crowd isn't easy when you're battling fine competitors such as the Volkswagen Golf and SEAT Leon, the Ford Focus, the Toyota Corolla and the Mazda 3, to name just a few.
And, well, the Peugeot's design certainly does just that. It's closely related to the latest Vauxhall Astra, a car that has transformed from worthy but dull to surprisingly stylish. But the new 308 goes a step further still with its dramatic front-end, fang-like LED lights, creased bodywork and shapely rear-end. It's more overtly showy than subtly classy, but that's better than being anonymous.
The interior, too, is an interesting place to sit with its angular shapes and varied surfaces. There's more going on than there is in the Astra, while Peugeot's i-Cockpit cabin design certainly gives it a unique selling point - although it still won't suit drivers of all shapes and sizes. Quality is largely very good, too, with some pretty classy materials.
The old Peugeot 308 also had a surprisingly upmarket feel too, but lagged behind the best when it came to technology and usability. Peugeot has done a good job of rectifying that with its new, much improved infotainment with dual screens and novel customisation to allow easy access to commonly-used features. Indeed, the main downside of the cabin is now the mediocre rear seat space, which is barely better than the old 308 and a fair way behind the class best.
Still, the 308 redeems itself when it comes to the driving experience. We're already very familiar with the base Puretech 130 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, but it remains a great offering, while Peugeot still offers a diesel engine for mega-mileage drivers. Purists may lament the lack of any manual offering - Peugeot's manual 'boxes were never brilliant, but it's nice to have the choice - although the standard eight-speed automatic does a largely decent job.
Given the majority of Peugeot 308s are sold to fleet buyers, many will be drawn to the two new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models. With 180 or 225PS they're not short of power, but the real draw is low emissions, low company car tax and (officially at least) the ability to travel up to 40 miles on a charge in electric mode. What's more, a fully electric Peugeot 308 is due next year with a range of 250 miles. - Авто та транспорт

Why’s the steering on the left and can I get this changed?
European cars all have the steering wheel on the left except in the UK. If you buy the car in any country where they drove on the left hand side you will get the steering wheel on the right

Peugeot probably has the best designed cars on the market atm. If just the motors weren't so unreliable. Downsizing might be eco-friendly at first glance, but most owners won't be able to drive these motors for nearly as long as a 2.0 or above.
Das Problem ist nicht nur bei Peugeot sondern bei allen Herstellern. VAG TSI Motoren halten keine 50.000km und die DSG Getriebe sind in der selben Zeit gehimmelt.
Von den ganzen Downsizing traue ich aber Peugeot die bessere zuverlässig gegenüber der Konkurrenz zu.
Wir fahren einen 12 Jahre alten Peugeot 208 ehdi und der hat uns noch nie im Stich gelassen. TÜV schafft der immer ohne Mängel. In den ganzen 12 Jahren ist nach 8 Jahren nur die Batterie wegen Altersschwäche getauscht worden. Der Diesel ist sehr zuverlässig und braucht bei genügsamer Fahrweise nur 3,7 Liter. Besser geht es nicht.
Auch unser 21 Jahre alter 206 CC glänzt mit hervorragenden Zuverlässigkeit.
In 1 oder 2 Jahren werden wir uns einen Peugeot 308 oder 408 zulegen

I’ve been working on cars for decades imo the best diesel engines are from Peugeot/Citroen same company that’s why I’ve had a diesel of these makes since 1999 a 306 and I’ve never had one let me down fact ! The petrol versions of same company I wouldn’t touch or give parking space they are imo weak engines . Just changing my 3008 2.0 diesel new in 2019 after 5 years you guessed it for a new 2024 diesel 3008 GT . 👍🏻😉👏👏
In my opinion, the combination of introduction of head-up instrument display (which many people find the system objectionable)
and high price caused sales figures to plummet. Peugeot's current market share in Europe is around 5%.

Think before making a comment again.

Zuverlässigkeit ist sehr gut 👍 ich fahre einen sehr zuverlässigen 21 Jahre alten 206 CC mit 138.000 km ohne Probleme und einen 12 Jahre alten 208 eHDI mit 125.000km ohne Probleme 💪
Peccato x quel cruscotto e x la mancanza di un diesel 2.0 da 150cv e 190cv.....! Il 1.5 da 130 cv lo mettessero su 208.........😠 Maledetti a voi e sta guerra inutile al diesel........

I've had mine over 3 years without any problems whatsoever. There's millions of cars with the exact same engine.
Still the same as in 2022 and 2023 nothing changed and still the steering wheel causing the same problem covering the screen infront of the driver.
دائما السيارات الفرنسية تصاميمها جذابة وانيقة لكن المحتوى لاشيءيعني سيارة مثل هذه يضعون لها محرك 1.2بثلاث سلندر .محرك فصلي إن صح التعبير .السيارات الفرنسية أكثر الاحيان عيوبها كلها بالمحرك كذلك حتى في علامة رينو إلا أن رينو مؤخرا محركاته انجح مقارنة مع البيجو ولكن على العموم فيها بعض العيوب وكلهذا راجع إلى المصنع يقلل التكاليف ويرفع السعر لتزويد ارباحه أكثر فأكثر .وقد اضحت كل العلامات الاوروبية تتعمد نقص الجودة لبيع قطع الغيار من أول وهلة وزيادة السعر في كل شيء .لذا اصبح الغرض تجاري غير فني أو تحقيق جودة وموثوقية على عكس العلامات الآسياوية فقد حققت نجاحاً كبيراً في مونتجاتها مثلا تويوتا وهيونداي وكيا . واصبح ميول الزبائن نحوها مباشرة لأن صيانتها لاتتكلف كما أن أي مرأب يقوم بإصلاحها بكل سهولة .

Diesel only Peugeot customer new every 3 years since 1997 best diesels on the market , wouldn’t touch the petrol engines imo 5 years longest with 3008 2.0 hdi 180 eat8 due to swop next year but it will be a diesel 😉👍🏻
