Fiat 124 Twin Cam 1608cc engine rebuilt by Middle Barton Garage

Middle Barton Garage have been building Fiat and Abarth engines for road and competition applications since 1987. Here's a fresh build of a Fiat 124 1608 on test bed

Brilliant! I dropped one those lumps (and gearbox) into a Polski Fiat 125p back in 1978 while serving in the British Army in Germany. I didn't have any money for the exotic weber's so stuck with the original carb setup. Quite a bit of work involved including cutting a section out of the transmission tunnel, converting from hydraulic to cable clutch activation but it was well worth it. It would hold its own against a Golf GTI away from the lights - but not for long :)

swaped the sohc for the dohc and went with a cheap ecu and the fiat tipo gt plenum all good for 5 years of abuse , expect engine has bad compresion now, from 78hp to 118 , had a lot of trouble with power with carbs and the chinese idf ones were hard to set them right

Always wanted a set of IDFs for my 124s over the years. Just could never pull the trigger.

Fantastic. I'm preparing a 1608 with four IDF 44's for my 124 Special T. what cams did you install? which fuel jets? thanks if you answer me you will help me a lot

is the cam distributor used in the 1600 i was sure that it came with the 1800 in cc or bc models
