  • Here I deal with the common problems you will come across when rebuilding airhead carbs. Hopefully in enough detail to help everyone tackle most of this themselves. They can almost always be saved, but doing so is not an easy job.

    Thank you SO MUCH for this. So informative seeing this rather than a factory tear-down. This is real life! Much appreciative of your time. -Dan

    Daniel, with regard to locked screws, I always use heat [obviously on a carb that would only be a heat gun and carefully] and I always tighten first before attempting to loosen. Now that might not have worked here but I've had a lot of success over the years.

      I was surprised he didn't use heat also. A small propane turbo flame works wonders in tight places where you can't get the MAP torch. I've been restoring bikes for years and the heat guns are the most important weapons in the arsenal

    I found a bing 64/3213 at a thrift shop...thought I was doing good until I discovered that someone had broken off the small jet inside the shaft - a small remainder of the brass jet can be seen in the base of the shaft the small jet screws into. Any tips on how to remove this without damaging the carb for good?

    • @dannyk1d
      @dannyk1d  Рік тому +1

      Once the heads on the jets are broken or rounded, I’ve never managed to remove them. They are a very fine thread, even drilling them out carefully doesn’t work.
      I usually source a replacement body from one of the suppliers.

    Hi Daniel, great video!! What type of blasting is this ?

    • @dannyk1d
      @dannyk1d  3 роки тому +1

      Vapour blasting. Water and very fine glass bead mixed. Leaves a lovely finish without any abrasion to the surface.

    what is the level off cerburator flot off bmw R65 ? thanks for answers

    • @dannyk1d
      @dannyk1d  3 роки тому +3

      It is hard to explain quickly . But with the carb upside down, the casting line on the float that follows along from the metal clip should be horizontal to the carburettor body when the float needle just touches the seat, without pressure on the spring.

    Hi how much do you charge to strip, blast and rebuild a pair of Bing 32mm carbs for a R80g/s? Thanks Kevin

    • @dannyk1d
      @dannyk1d  3 роки тому

      Hi Kevin. I charge £100 for a set, plus parts. Hard to tell exactly, but at a minimum new gaskets, o rings, diaphragm and screws £29.40. Slide needles and needle jets are good to replace at around 50k and while the carbs are apart £26.40.
      Other than that, you never know for sure until the carbs are stripped.
