The vast majority of operators of these little ones (Bombardier SW48) were almost stuntmen. When I was a child, I liked to watch them clear the sidewalks in front of the family house. It is the same manufacturer that now produces the Can-Am, Ski-Doo and Sea-Doo brands.
My work has a couple old ones. One came with a V plow on it. Damn thing would drive through a huge snow bank. We use it now for off road vehicle recovery. Added a hitch to the back and a small winch to the front.
Regarding the weak defrost my town simply installed a 3 bladed rubber fan to move warm air over the windshield. Never had a defrost problem unless you forgot to turn on the 3 bladed fan. The operator’s loved them but leaned you needed to buckle up before driving them. Food for thought
Great rebuild your are a gifted mechanic and have a great mind for fabricating. Are You in Quebec or maybe New Brunswick I live in NH and love coming North.
They became Notorious for launching operators right through the windshield . Banned buy may municipalities for use in snow removal. Seems the seat an driver depended on weak floor mounts . The wind shield was very difficult to keep defrosted. Curbs an obstacles in side walks. An so much junk.
Just curious what was the mileage or hours of the machine when overhauled? I just picked one of these up with 1400hrs and im very happy with it. Did some grading around the property but no snow removal..YET!!
Fantastic rebuild. I used to love these things as a kid and I still do. One day I'm going to get one.
Awesome job, nothing fancy just done in a simple shop with simple tools and a lot of elbow grease.be proud.😊😊

How durable is the final drive differential in these? Do band brakes typically have to be replaced? I understand they work like cletrac transmissions.
