I'd just like to point out for tourists that the prices you see for Lincoln Castle are only if you want to see or partake of the attractions/activities stated. You can enter the castle for free and walk around the entirety of the grounds, just not enter the buildings within. We often take a picnic down there and enjoy a meal on the lawn, because we can. Thanks for showing our city in such a generous light.
It does! I think whenever there is sound like that I will leave it but if there’s crazy horrible wind noise or total silence might add a bit of music in
Thank you for a great video walk. I love the way you just film and walk with natural sound and give captions which we can read. No intrusive music or yanking. Also it's refreshing 😌 not to have a facial close up of the YTuber yakking while blocking out the place they are supposed to film. Common among Americans I'm sorry to say. Anyway thank you. It brings back memories of Lincoln.
I used to live in the house at the bottom of Steep Hill, adjacent to the Mayor's Chair. We used to walk up Sterp Hill every day on our way to school, through the Exchequergate and around the cathedral. The old street lamp at an angle by the Mayor's Chair was still a gas light in the 1970s and a chap used to come with a ladder to light it each night. Great entertainment in winter from our back windows watching people sliding down the hill in snow and ice. That bit of cobbled road at the bottom of Steep Hill alongside our old house is actually a se tion of the old Roman road through Lincoln. And as in Whitby, the doorways on Steep hill are small bc the street level has risen over the centuries.
I loved Lincoln when I visited in September 2018. The repair work on Lincoln Cathedral was going on back then but fortunately nowhere else was effected. I am a little surprised that you didn’t included the High Bridge in High Street which I thought was amazing. I think Lincoln is one of the most beautiful cities in the UK but it doesn’t seem to get the attention that some other cities get. Our day is Lincoln was unforgettable and we arrived by train, the railway actually cuts through part of the city.
I made my first trip to Lincoln in the summer of 1997. My English wife and I went to visit her family. This is the first town in alll of Briton that I saw. We’ve been back many times which has given me opportunity to see more of this city as well as others in this beloved country. As an aside, I am still in awe of the cathedral every time I see it and go inside. Your video was so well done that it felt like I was walking along side of you. You took the time to show all that there is to see in this spectacular video. The captions were spot with additional information that contributed very nicely to the work. I enjoyed this video so much that I’ve watch the others. You have the most wonderful style and high quality video that it just feels like actually walking through the town.
Thank you for this, Lincoln is one of my favourite places, I just love the architecture, me and my friend have walked up and down Steep Hill a couple of times blimey talk about hard work, but it's well worth it to see the magnificent Cathedral and castle, I would highly recommend a trip here to anyone, trust me you won't be disappointed
Thank you for this one, had quite a few visits while my youngest was at uni we are back in September for his delayed graduation ceremony what a very nice city
I've been to Lincoln a few times, mostly during the Christmas Market. I remember climbing up that hill to the market a few times, and then finding out there is a bus that will take ya! lol Another brilliant walk, thanks again for the invite! :)
@ De Hewitt : The Christmas Market is avoided by most locals, it's just a complete rip-off so the council can cash in on tourists, at the expense of locals not being able to drive down roads they need to, in order to access shops and their own houses. Lincoln is a beautiful place that is still very much 'English' and not been diluted with immigrants.
Thank you for this! Was born in Lincoln and then moved country at age nine, visited twice every year since but I haven't been in England or in any other country for that matter for 2 years! Gonna be in England in two and a half weeks and I'm so excited!!!
You asked for suggestions. New Quay. In wales ( not cornwall) and Chester. Derbyshire...Matlock, Chesterfield, Wirksworth and Cromford ( another hill to rival Lincoln's). Thanks for your videos.
My home city 😊 A better route to the Brayford wharf is to find the tiny narrow steps at the side of Stokes Café and had down you'll go through a little tunnel called the glory hole and you can view back and see the river going underneath the historic café building
Me and my parents and sister been to Lincoln a number of times, sister's husband comes from Lincoln, me and my sister went to Lincoln as part of history during secondary school, and the joke the teachers played was making us stand out the carta pub.
Lincoln is a must visit city; so pretty and full of lovely things to see. Not been for a few years and this makes me ache to return. Thanks for a fabulous upload.
Hi. the shop 'Jolly Ducks & Snooty Cats', at 10 the Strait, used to be owned by my Great Grandad Arthur Ashforth, in the early 1900s. At that time he was a master Painter & Decorator & at 10, the Strait he was a 'Print Seller' (aka Art Dealer). He also had the contract to paint & decorate the Guildhall, at the lower end of the High Street.
Wonderful video, thanks! Going there tomorrow for the first time, #1 takeaway is to start at the top of Steep Hill and descend, not start at the bottom and ascend!!! Mike Buchanan JUSTICE FOR MEN & BOYS
There is another hill running kind of parallel to steep hill which is a little less steep but not as interesting for those that don’t like too much climbing. I was not a local but now live and work there and can recommend Browns pie shop and Stokes on the high street.
Thanks Gimbal Beautiful video, been to Lincoln many times, and up that hill,I usually park up by the castle walls,so I know that hill well. It's great down by Brayford Pool.Lincoln,my county town,I look forward the one with castle.
Great video. I live in Lincoln and think this will pull the tourists in. In one way its a shame you didn't start at Newport Arch and walk down the Bail, but I suppose there is just too much to see from one video. Best option is to come and see it live! And a pint or two in The Strugglers is a must for any real ale fans 🍻🐕👍
I actually did start at Newport Arch and walked along to the Cathedral but split that off into a separate video as thought it might make the whole thing too long - it is coming out this week

Prices a bit high at the Castle--all over the UK now. Is it me or does this hill seem not all that steep? Ever been to San Francisco? Still, I love Lincoln, town and cathedral both.
What fantastic buildings and to think my hubby pushed me in wheelchair up the steep hill from canal to cathedral, was he glad to reach the top for some grub & cuppa
