Lauren, you always have great advice. And this was fantastic. Don’t stop the strumming. I love it.
Thank you so much!!
Excellent! Thank you. This is very helpful.
Any time
Thank-you Lauren. This is very helpful. I’m definitely between a pauser and better chord changes. Your keep strumming advise is always on my mind when practicing. 🎸
You're so welcome!
The thing i love about your videos is when i dont know what to do to make it better, i search "Lauren Bateman chord transitions" or "Lauren Bateman finger picking"...
And youre always there for me. ❤
I'm trying to learn a song (Change - Blind Melon).
Its just A, D and G.
I have the chords down.
I LOVE going to G from D. My pinkie is the whole hero there.
But, the strumming pattern (dddduuududu) and the chord changes are killing me.
I know this will help.
You can do it!
Once again Just what I needed at this point. Thank you
Glad to help
You mentioned this in your course and I honed in on it. Made a big difference Lauren.
Nice!
Thank you very much 🙏🏻🙏🏽🙏🏻
You're welcome very much!
Great tip!
Thanks Lauren!!!
You're welcome 😊
Great stuff. Many thanks.
You are welcome!
Great tips! I suffered with the stop syndrome a lot at first. Muscle memory did kick in for the basic chords eventually. Practice...practice...practice.
Good stuff!
Hi Lauren . After nearly forty years I have decided to pick up the guitar again . I started out learning tunes by ,The Shadows . ( A British group of the 1960's ) . It's surprising how much I have forgotten , plus arthritic thumbs , and a rather high action fingerboard . But ,I shall persevere . I will say that yours is the best online tutorial I have come across . I am going to have fun working my way through your playlist . Kind regards and best wishes . Thankyou .
Glad to hear that you are trying again. Keep it up!
Awesome class,thanks
Glad you liked it!

I do not want to come out like I´m some sort of Swedish gitarr stalker here :) But i do love when you do your "counts" 1 -2 - 3, its like music. Since i bought my first guitar this last summer, Im now on my third, and that is an Telecaster, and that one is soo incredible fun. I knew i wanted to learn. You have given my a solid foundation, to kick of from. I really cant thank you enuogh.
Awesome! I'm happy that you enjoyed my lessons
Thks Lauren ur tips are so appropriated pause syndromes is my specialty 😂til now ur awesome!

Oh been suffering from brain loop for ages! Great tips, so simple, fingers crossed it's a cure my loopy brain!
You got this!
Thanks Lauren, helped me no end as a newby ! I'm trying to find a tutorial for This Train is Bound For Glory as it only has 3 cords ! Any help with this would be great !
Thank you, Mark for the recommendation. I get lots of song requests so I cannot guarantee that I will get to it, but I will definitely add it to my list.
Great tip 👍
Glad you think so!
Did you just send me another message saying I won something and should direct message you ? Or is it a scam?
This is great what I need my biggest problem is changing the C and or D cords. C takes a few seconds to get all the fingers in the right place but almost always comes out crisp and clean. D cord however I never seem to land the fingers right no man what I do unless I stop, take a minute to adjust, and then play it. Very frustrating cuz I know I can do this. Also, I play the G with my pinky because it really does allow for smooth quicker changes to other cords but it seems like the finger is always weak which also slows me down.
Marc, glad to help!!!
Best video ever!
Thank you!
I'm a new subscriber ~ and an Old Beginner. I Quit trying 15 years ago.....~ I'm trying Again! I've already Learned So Much From You in a Month that Its Unbelievable!! Thank You! I Would Absolutely Love for You to Do a Play Along of " All I can Do is Write about It" by LYNYRD SKYNYRD. Thats the Song that Started Me on this Journey Many Years Ago. If I Could Lay that Down at a Campfire? It'd Be a Full Circle Moment for Me. Anyway.... Im Going To Follow You Forever! You Inspire Me! Thank You for Doing What You Do.
Thank you, Terry for the recommendation. I get lots of song requests so I cannot guarantee that I will get to it, but I will definitely add it to my list.
Hey, thanks again for another helpful post. I’ve been playing on and off for years and the main problem I have is the C chord change. That is going to a C. My fingers just don’t want to play the right shape! Any tips on that would be so helpful! Love from the UK.
Really repetition over and over. Thousands of repetitions to get the muscle memory to set in.
@@LaurenBateman Thank you.
What pick are you using in this video Lauren ?
This is actually a custom Lauren Bateman pick. It's essentially a white Dunlop Tortex 0.73mm pick. 😊
This I need to work on..
Same I can't really play much anymore cause of school yk 😭
You can do it!
You call it "Pause Syndrome"...I call it "Indie Rock artisinal musicality" Thanks for the tips, Lauren! Really appreciate the 7-level lessons!
You got it!
On your last strumming pattern D D DU DU... the DU IS an eighth note, the D a quarter note?
Essentially yes
Hi lauren
Its great to c what u r doing next its interesting
Did u read my message that i sent u back when we were talking about stupid and i think u didnt understand me
U thought i said im stupid but i said i were to think it but not now and u said if i think it must b stupid
Hope u get what im saying its confussing
Can i ask u is there a way to lower the strings to c if it helps me to make a sound and not a squeaky noise?
I have a martin guitar do u think its not the rite guitar as i couldnt get a more expensive one rite now?
Also with ur course things is there a time that i have to do it in or can i take my time?
Love ur vlogs and iv liked and subscribed
Sending love from wales uk🎸🎸🎸
Hi Angela, sorry I misunderstood you. Yes, you can lower the strings. It's called lowering the action of the guitar. You might want to take your guitar to a local shop and help them do it for you the first time.
@@LaurenBateman
Hi lauren thanks 4 getting back to me cos i were a bit upset
Do u have vlog showing us how to do the lowering of the strings?
What were the answers to my questions about lessons?
Is that a 6228FM with Bigsby on the wall??
That's my Gretsch Duo Jet George Harrison model. It does have a Bigsby.
@@LaurenBateman beautiful, it looks a lot like my 6228 but I do not have rhe bigsby. Would love to hear some lessons with it... let the people hear that sweet gretsch sound.
How can you speed up open chord change to Barr chords
This would work, but anything is repetition and I'm talking thousands of repetitions to get it going.
Cool thanks
In #2…better way to say it, is to let the 3rd strum “ring out” which covers the skipped 4th ..either way👍
Thank you!
well if I want to play d d d d, can't i basically turn it into d d d d d and drop the last one? wouldn't it sound the same??
Thanks for watching! Yes it will be the same sound if you will not strum any chord after the last down strum respectively.
@@LaurenBateman got it. Appreciate you.
0:02 you dont gotta call me out like that cmon now
😬
Yes my chord changes are so bad
Keep practicing, you can do it!
Slow is smooth and smooth become fast
You got it!
Thanks!
No problem!
