The reel echo has been my delay for years now--was a dream of mine. The sound on sound feature is so you can loop an echo section and play over that section without your lead line having the delay on it....
You belong in this world, Ryan. Your joy for sound discovery is infectious. 😂

I had one for years - they're really good. The reverb, and even the drive sounds awesome.

I’d have no problem sleeping on an air mattress... being on camera without a shower would be pretty rough though lol.
@@60CycleHumcast Hahahaa agreed Ryan. I've stayed at Holiday Inn Express before and they're not bad at all for the money. I loved they're continental bfast that saved me another $10 from going out for bfast in the morning. Waffle maker, scrambled egg patties, sausages. Mine even had a cheapy biscuits and gravy. That sucks they don't have it now do to crazy covid.
@@60CycleHumcast Again, I'm do glad you hooked up with Josh and have become even closer friends. I finally bought my first JHS pedal, the Series 3 Fuzzzz. It has that broken gated sound that you like in a fuzz. I have a buddy that has one also, and he said he's selling it because he likes his Cuvave better!!!! I still need to get me a Cuvave. They did go up to around $30/$35 after you raved about it. Hahaa. Have a great weekend.

I bout a used flashback that had soft Velcro last week…. For a few minutes I questioned if I was the problem, and then promptly replaced it with the hard side. Thank you for confirming my Velcro concepts, and reminding me that there are people who do it wrong, and people who do it right.

As soon as I saw a Death by Audio pedal I knew I was in the right place. Lol
As HUGE spaceship noise pilot for many decades, I used to own a Multivox Multi-delay as an integral part of my late 70's thru the 80's rig. ( crank that input level & db switch to 11 to overdrive an old Marshall Plexi) I digress.... I will now share with you how to make the ULTIMATE Spaceship noises with that particular tape echo! I discovered how to do this as a teenager with too much time on my hands & after ingesting too much psychedelic 'inspiration' on a daily basis for 3 months! Now.....setting the repeats on 10 whilst manipulating the delay time is kindergarten level noise making. Works great with any tape echo. How about a Star Trek Transporter? Funny you should ask! Because that multiple inputs & outputs. Take a short patch cable and PLUG THE OUTPUT INTO THE INPUT. NOW......ROTATE the delay time up the unit should self oscillate even without the repeats turned up. Slowly turn the delay time down as you start hearing a VERY familiar chime noise. GUYS THIS IS WORTH DOING AN ADENDUM VIDEO! Its the exact sound of the STARSHIP ENTERPRISE'S TRANSPORTER!!!!! Josh, my Multivox, 85 Fender Super Champ & 1969
100 watt Marshall Super lead, were stolen in PHX AZ 1989 after a gig with my band Mordor at the Sage & Sand. Maybe I could borrow yours and transport myself back there? It was an inside job (maybe a viewer knows? Mine had duct tape on tne left side! I used to ummm stare at the tape intestines many a night! Love your channel, this is the first time I have ever commented on video, try what I suggested and you'll Never hear surf music again! Watch out for your ears! ☆☆☆☆☆
The is exactly why I need to put my pedals in a box and stash it in the closet from time to time. 3 hours later, I made a lot of noise but didn't learn a single song :) Great video!

I loved my ES-2 Echo Shifter. It eventually broke as they do. They now have a ES-3 where the oscillation is foot switchable and you can also switch between analog and digital. When I had the ES-2, I used it on my board. You could hear the repeats just fine. If you like Ibanez analog delay, or MXR, for that matter, it doesn't sound particularly dark. My fave analog delay ever.
the JHS really sounds good
As a polish guitar player i can say that the led thing appears only on those pedals (KOD 1st run). They are very cheap to get, but while ago polish people started to collecting them. Cheers!

It's a shame the Reel Echo is the only not real echo in there. It's actually a glitchy echo. There is still shadows of you echoing in those little spacey boxes in JHS. It's a pity you used the head phones. It was a cool episode to play it loud and drive everyone mad in the office.
I have a Berringer Mixer that all on it's own can replicate most of the tones here. To top that I have a Korg Synthesizer with LFO's and voltage FO's that I can run my electric guitar signal through. Then also my Marshall MG100HFX has many FX's all on it's own. So I can do shoegaze and spaceship sound all day long.
What's funny is that until recently I always ran a clean signal, not even any reverb! Actually I still do but when I'm in the mood I can make all the strange sounds I want too! -Peter age 71
My Fender Campion 20 even has superb delays w chorus that does some great shoegaze sounds. I can bring this into my bedroom and shoegaze myself to sleep!

The led is off on the KOD so you don't go blind on a dark stage like when you have a pedal with the blue led ray of death. Seems like led off when it's on would be a better solution to the super bright led issues. With it off, you have no issues seeing what's written on the pedal for adjustments.

I wish that the Valhalla FreqEcho plugin would be made as a pedal. Because that one does spaceship sounds.
Shit...I had a Reel Echo for years and I foolishly sold it. For a long time I pretty much only used it for slapack despite the ridiculous amount of real estate it took. It really is it’s own thing though.
