This cruise is much cheaper than other ships. I would rather have a cheaper cruise and decide myself if I want to pay for the extras. I think people forget the difference in cruise prices when they are complaining about this. If you want it included then go on a more expensive cruise
I have cruised MSC numerous times and I am headed back in a few weeks and I have always enjoyed them.. I actually like them better than some of the other Cruise lines! I guess it's different strokes for different folks 🤷.. $32 is a little steep for an umbrella, But to compare them with Disney's Private island and how their umbrellas are so much cheaper... Look at the price that you are paying for the Disney cruise VS MSC Cruise.. as much as Disney charges for their cruise fare, they should give you those for free.. to have to pay $15 after paying that much for your cruise, to me that's nickel and diming by Disney.
We loved the island and the Seashore. We're going again in September. We have proven that all the bad comments about MSC are totally false. Looking forward to going again.

The comments always had me sketched out to try them, I've been on NCL, RCL, Princess, Celebrity, Disney, Holland and we sailed MSC last year for the 1st time and it was our 1st choice again for this years cruise. Going back on the Seashore again to Ocean Cay!! Having been on other cruise lines I never got the nickel and diming impression other people have.

My wife and I are going on a Virgin Voyages cruise in November. One day longer, less money, even with a balcony. All dining, drinks (other than alcohol, wifi, in room entertainment, shows, and gratuities are included.
How much did you say those umbrellas cost again? Umbrellas by lighthouse free. Shade under palm trees free. Snorkeling with turtle at lighthouse free. Best island ever. Marine reserve refurbished from sand mine. Flounder, live conch, clown fish, sharks, etc all free. No tender to island. Walk on and off ship at will. Lighthouse show on beach great.
Umbrellas at 32$ are definitely expensive but again this cruise was $1500-3000 cheaper than most other cruise lines so I would rather pay $32 for an umbrella than so very much more for the cruise, that’s just common sense
They have a selection of free umbrellas that are set up on the beach. You don’t have to pay but if get to beach late of course all the free ones will be taken.
We just went on the Seashore last week and we had a great time with great service, the food quality has improved, our biggest complaint was the elevators, slow and hot! Hard to find seating in the buffet during breakfast! Our room attendant was great and the service at the Tribecca main dining room was awesome! We had no trouble getting water to our stateroom, always got the plastic water bottles from the MDR to take back to the room for the night at no extra charge. We had no trouble finding shade under the coconut trees at the island. You cannot beat the value on MSC, if we had sailed with another cruise line, the cost would have been $1200-$3000 more! We don't expect Viking service on MSC, we just try to enjoy our vacation. Thank you for the content!
Exactly the experience I had on my last cruise, I have to say the crew are the best all our room stewards we have had on MSC have been amazing and something not mentioned very much is MSC is one of the only cruise lines left doing twice daily room cleaning
By the way, some cruise lines do offer a free fresh carafe of water everyday, such as Virgin Voyages, etc. You can go to any bar and ask for a bottle of water and keep it in your cabin.on MSC. I sail on MSC a lot and will be back on them again in 2 months on the Seascape. I sailed on Seashore last year. Or, just order water in advance to have in your cabin when you arrive.

I was around two weeks ago with MSC Seashore for 7 days. 1. There was always somewhere a palm we could drag the chairs into the shadow and the sun umbrellas on the lighthouse beach are free (must be early enough there that they are not gone. 2. Rum Cake was unfortunately only available on the Island and for one day on the ship...after this we have not seen it again. (everyone loved the cake on the ship) 3. Food on the plate was never a problem from the size on Ocean Cay 3. Excursions we booked directly with local companies in the ports for example in Mexico to spent less money than with the MSC excursions. Overall we loved everything but it is a hit or miss. We met people with around 40 Cruises they would never again go with MSC and other people with around the same amount of Cruises will go now always with MSC. We will go again with them too. Looking right now into the MSC Cruise next year from Naples Italy to Miami (22 nights)
Noah is absolutely adorable and beautiful! I am a grandmother to four girls and I had the blessing to take care of them until school and then their chauffeur. Love that your baby girl is getting exposed to so much through cruising. Really enjoy your adventures.❤️

Hello... I agree with Alyssa that if it is their private island, they should include umbrellas and chairs. When I went to Barbados a few years back, it was $10 for an umbrella, not $32... It should be a minimal fee and not $32 if they have to charge. That is only my opinion
Definitely appreciate keeping it real and do want to know in advance what to expect but sometimes we gotta try to be an optimist. There are things in this life. Yes with a lot of things with MSC booking in advance saves a bunch of money (the umbrellas are half off almost as stated), same goes for excursions they are normally 20-30% off booked in advance as well
When we went to the MSC island a couple of years ago we pre-paid for an umbrella and when we got there we had to ask several people where they had them. Finally found the rental stand and they just handed us these huge Beach umbrellas and we had to lug them to the beach and find a. Chair. Just got back from RCL’s CocoCay and they had hundreds of chairs and umbrellas available at no cost and nicely set up by the water.
The drink package works on the island - that more than makes up for the umbrella rental which they don’t hide, it’s very clear when you book and when you are onboard and also the whole cruise is so much cheaper than other cruise lines.

Shade and umbrellas should be considered part of the comfort of the islands visitors to make them feel welcome and taken care of to enjoy the island experience if the island belongs to MSC. Preventing sunburn and sun poisoning would be a nice perk....(yes ,I work in healthcare. lol !)
Pretty certain that NCL did the exact same thing on my cruise last year, or it could have been a clamshell because there were zero umbrellas ever available.
You would be correct. They sold out of them online before our cruise this February and we couldn't get one. They were priced at $40/clamshell. We ended up not needing it because it was horribly overcast and rainy and we left after about 45 minutes.

Actually Holland America & Princess charge for Umbrellas on their private islands. They charge $35 to $50. I hate the extra charges also but if you reserve an umbrella with MSC before you board the boat it's only $16 or $17 vs with Holland America its still $35 no matter when you reserve. With MSC lots of things can be reserved online in advance for allot cheaper then if you buy it onboard so pre-purchase is always recommended.
There is no need to debate. They are nickel and diming us to death on these cruise ships and it is not exclusive to MSC and I don’t really have anything good to say about them, but I agree with you if you’re gonna take us to the private island provide us some shade every other port you go to has free shade.

$35/day for an Umbrella isn't nickel and diming, it HIGHWAY ROBBERY!! Charging $4.75 for that little cup of coffee is ridiculous as well in my opinion.
If you have ever had the coffee on MSC you would change your story, it is true Italian coffee with Italian beans not the Starbucks that you find on other ships, the coffee is absolutely the best on MSC
Totally agree with Alyssa regarding the umbrellas on a private island. I was so disappointed to find that out on my last Carnival cruise and to make it worse we had to put it up ourselves. Next time, I'm staying on the ship. Btw, your baby girl is precious.
The matching outfits! Fabulous! And eff no on charging $32 for an umbrella. When we were on Ocean Cay in July '23 the line was too long and I am glad we didn't spend the extra money to lug one around. The worst is that you have to lug it with you and return it. Sorry, no way for $32
I brought my umbrella before the cruise it was $15. I totally agree it should be free. What’s really bad is you have to carry it around and put it up yourself.
Rehoboth Beach Delaware umbrella rental - $32, 2 chairs, table and umbrella - $80. Princess Cays - you had to rent the clamshell or find your own shade. I don't remember renting an umbrella. The best thing I have taken on a Caribbean cruise is my "inflatable" sling chair and my own micro fiber towels. The microfiber towels don't take up any room in your beach bag, are light weight, pack flat in your suitcase, and don't hold sand.
We love MSC, but only stay in the Yacht Club. Full fridge daily, no lines, private restaurant & lounge, and a ride to the private beach w/free drinks all day along w/lunch served in the island restaurant. There is absolutely no other way we will cruise. It’s absolutely worth the extra expense to upgrade to avoid all of the chaos & extra charges.
Water idea that we do all the time is bring a large smoothie cup with a top. Have the room attendant bring you ice. fill your cut up and let it melt. Then ask if he/she would give you more ice and keep it coming. Works really well. The water everywhere on the ship is RO water, but I trust the ice more than the bathroom sink water. I agree with you on the extra charge for an umbrella. I wouldn't pay for that.
New subscriber here. Your daughter is stunning! My 2 adult daughters and their husbands and children are going on the MSC Seashore the week of Thanksgiving 2024. The ship looks insanely cool! They are all seasoned cruiser's. I myself have never been on one at all. I am 56 and get motion sick badly so I have not braved the open waters yet. We are all from Florida so we are use to being around the ocean and beaches and the $32 dollar charge for a beach umbrella didn't seem so ubsurd as its very common for beach rentals all over Florida charge alot for their rentals too. I guess it's what you know or get use too. But I do understand that it seems like you shouldn't have to pay extra for every single little thing. I hope and pray my girls and grandkids have a great time on their cruise. My 5yr old grandson is nonverbal autistic and I worry about him being on board and getting hurt or falling off a balcony. Also hoping they have playrooms on board to accomodate him. Thanks for sharing!

Watching because I’m considering a short cruise with MSC. I don’t think Royal charges for umbrellas at Coco Cay. I would say if it’s a private island they shouldn’t be charging for a simple umbrella. All good to know before you go. My main concern is the food. Most of it looks mediocre. Pizza looks great but I don’t want to just eat pizza the whole time.
Charging for umbrellas are ridiculous on their private beach. I hear over & over that MSC extra charges for lots of things, it might look like the cruise is less expensive but paying for things you get for free on other cruises doesn’t make it a less expensive cruise. I want everything in the cruise cost so you know up front. A specialty restaurant is one thing but umbrellas on your private island!!! Shame on them.

Honestly, I am fine with charging and it might seem a bit high but when you pay half the price for the fare of say a Royal Caribbean Cruise and what they charge for cabana's it isn't the worst I could think of.

Table side guacamole is made fresh to order. The other guacamole is pre-made off ship and is probably what you'd find at your local store. Big difference between those two types of guacs.

Umbrellas should be included, they're if you are in Yacht Club. Umbrellas are $19 if you book pre-cruise in MSC App or website.
Pre-booked umbrella is $16 Price does change if you book it while on board.

Well $32 for an umbrella is not bad. RCL charges you to go to an adult only beach with flexible pricing. $50 to $100 per person.

There are many shady areas especially on the west side of the island. Renting an umbrella is not necessary.

I hate the extra charges also but if you reserve an umbrella with MSC before you board the boat it's only $16 or $17 vs with Holland America its still $35 no matter when you reserve. With MSC lots of things can be reserved online in advance for allot cheaper then if you buy it onboard so pre-purchase is always recommended.

as far as I know, RCI has plenty of free umbrella seating, Carnival also charges for shells and umbrellas, shameful
There is no need to debate. They are nickel and diming us to death on these cruise ships and it is not exclusive to MSC and I don’t really have anything good to say about them, but I agree with you if you’re gonna take us to the private island provide us some shade every other port you go to has free shade.
Charging for shade is asking for trouble with sunburn on your cruisers. Bad.

I'm with you two, I would NOT pay $32.00 for an umbrella. You can buy one for a few more bucks! I think these cruise lines are nuts with the way they charge extra for things that are normally included. They do nickle and dime you to death. Enjoyed your video. Noa is so stinking cute!! 💜💜

$35/day for an Umbrella isn't nickel and diming, it HIGHWAY ROBBERY!! Charging $4.75 for that little cup of coffee is ridiculous as well in my opinion.
If you have ever had the coffee on MSC you would change your story, it is true Italian coffee with Italian beans not the Starbucks that you find on other ships, the coffee is absolutely the best on MSC

Totally agree with Alyssa regarding the umbrellas on a private island. I was so disappointed to find that out on my last Carnival cruise and to make it worse we had to put it up ourselves. Next time, I'm staying on the ship. Btw, your baby girl is precious.
The matching outfits! Fabulous! And eff no on charging $32 for an umbrella. When we were on Ocean Cay in July '23 the line was too long and I am glad we didn't spend the extra money to lug one around. The worst is that you have to lug it with you and return it. Sorry, no way for $32

I brought my umbrella before the cruise it was $15. I totally agree it should be free. What’s really bad is you have to carry it around and put it up yourself.
You are able to get the umbrella before getting on your cruise for less. I paid $16 for the umbrella less than a month ago.

Rehoboth Beach Delaware umbrella rental - $32, 2 chairs, table and umbrella - $80. Princess Cays - you had to rent the clamshell or find your own shade. I don't remember renting an umbrella. The best thing I have taken on a Caribbean cruise is my "inflatable" sling chair and my own micro fiber towels. The microfiber towels don't take up any room in your beach bag, are light weight, pack flat in your suitcase, and don't hold sand.
Princess does have umbrella rentals now... and, they are also about $30.
We love MSC, but only stay in the Yacht Club. Full fridge daily, no lines, private restaurant & lounge, and a ride to the private beach w/free drinks all day along w/lunch served in the island restaurant. There is absolutely no other way we will cruise. It’s absolutely worth the extra expense to upgrade to avoid all of the chaos & extra charges.

Water idea that we do all the time is bring a large smoothie cup with a top. Have the room attendant bring you ice. fill your cut up and let it melt. Then ask if he/she would give you more ice and keep it coming. Works really well. The water everywhere on the ship is RO water, but I trust the ice more than the bathroom sink water. I agree with you on the extra charge for an umbrella. I wouldn't pay for that.

New subscriber here. Your daughter is stunning! My 2 adult daughters and their husbands and children are going on the MSC Seashore the week of Thanksgiving 2024. The ship looks insanely cool! They are all seasoned cruiser's. I myself have never been on one at all. I am 56 and get motion sick badly so I have not braved the open waters yet. We are all from Florida so we are use to being around the ocean and beaches and the $32 dollar charge for a beach umbrella didn't seem so ubsurd as its very common for beach rentals all over Florida charge alot for their rentals too. I guess it's what you know or get use too. But I do understand that it seems like you shouldn't have to pay extra for every single little thing. I hope and pray my girls and grandkids have a great time on their cruise. My 5yr old grandson is nonverbal autistic and I worry about him being on board and getting hurt or falling off a balcony. Also hoping they have playrooms on board to accomodate him. Thanks for sharing!

Watching because I’m considering a short cruise with MSC. I don’t think Royal charges for umbrellas at Coco Cay. I would say if it’s a private island they shouldn’t be charging for a simple umbrella. All good to know before you go. My main concern is the food. Most of it looks mediocre. Pizza looks great but I don’t want to just eat pizza the whole time.
Charging for umbrellas are ridiculous on their private beach. I hear over & over that MSC extra charges for lots of things, it might look like the cruise is less expensive but paying for things you get for free on other cruises doesn’t make it a less expensive cruise.
I want everything in the cruise cost so you know up front. A specialty restaurant is one thing but umbrellas on your private island!!! Shame on them.

Honestly, I am fine with charging and it might seem a bit high but when you pay half the price for the fare of say a Royal Caribbean Cruise and what they charge for cabana's it isn't the worst I could think of.
Exactly I think people keep forgetting that what they paid for this cruise in an upgraded room is much cheaper than most other cruises, you are paying way more for that “free” umbrella on CoCo Cay I can guarantee that
Table side guacamole is made fresh to order. The other guacamole is pre-made off ship and is probably what you'd find at your local store. Big difference between those two types of guacs.
We paid $9 for our umbrella on the MSC App BEFORE our cruise. The price gouging on the island is nuts lol

You pay one price to go on the cruise and every thing should be included. If you want alcohol that’s understandable,. I think the soda package is ridiculous. Not that I drink soda next will be charging you for food.. I think that’s completely low that they expect you to pay more money to use an umbrella for some shade on their island island! 🤔 Thank you much
When I was there in November 2023 the umbrella was only $15, so they more than doubled the price. Not cool at all.
