Final Thoughts: I would give the MSC Seashore a SAIL-ish rating. Overall, the cruise offers a lot of enjoyable amenities and activities. However, one aspect to consider is that room cleanliness can be hit or miss, with some guests experiencing issues. To enhance your experience, I recommend sailing in the Yacht Club, where you are more likely to receive top-notch service and accommodations. Additionally, utilizing the specialty dining package can significantly improve your culinary experience, offering a range of high-quality dining options that are well worth the investment. Otherwise, you can also roll the dice on a cheaper cabin, but you know what they say…you get what you pay for! Happy sailing!
We have cruised Disney, RC, Carnival (A LOT) and MSC. We don't drink or gamble. We mostly just like to chill and relax. Most people probably think we are boring, lol. We cruised MSC in 2023 out of Miami for the first time, and loved it so much, we did it again in 2024 (Seashore Port Canaveral...both times a 2 week back to back. You can't beat the price. The food was great, entertainment was fantastic. Room was nice (and clean). Really no complaints. We are looking to book another cruise soon. Not sure which cruise line. I do wish MSC would expand their itinerary a bit more.
Thanks for the positive comments about your cruise. I have loved my trips on Seashore, Meraviglia, Divina and Seascape. If you are after gourmet food have to do specialty dining or yacht club. Never had dirty cabin, in fact always clean room several times a day. There is a special light you can use at door that lets steward know from hallway that you want service. A lot of people are not aware it is there. Only disappoints are internet wifi of any kind questionable and breakfast delivery sometimes late and not correct. Between the disco ball ambiance, the pizza and the renovated island i am a believer.
Interesting fact I did not know: Italians do not like very strong air conditioning. They believe cold air blowing on your neck is especially bad. This would explain why it was hot around the ship. Many Americans, such as me, enjoy robust A/C. As a kid growing up in FL in the old days, we craved being able to escape the heat into a supermarket or any place, the colder the better to cool off. Paying to be on a cruise and having it be too warm everywhere, I would not be happy. Thank you for the effort and detail you put into your reviews.
Alyssa, I loved your honest review, and this video was done so well. I loved the layout and having the conclusion video to finish that sailing. I have really been contemplating trying new cruise lines, as we have only ever cruised Royal. I am really looking forward to the Carnival Cruise Vlog. I have a friend that's a die hard Carnie and I'm loyal to royal, so I'm can't wait to see yours and Cullen's review! Don't let the negative comments get you down, you guys are killing it! ❤
Great job. I think some people who are saying you are too critical are missing the point of the video and series. This isnt just a straight review but also an evaluation of the Cruise Critic reviews of the ship.
Hey Alyssa. Have experienced elevator doors closing quickly which can be rough for scooters to navigate quickly or Mobility challenged slower moving folks like myself. Luckily on the Seascape ,!the Aurea designated MDR food was always hot to my surprise after hearing so many reviews and seasoned. Luckily no cabin issues. Good shows and themed nights seem to be good. I’m wondering would guest services house towels to hand out? I’ve heard other cruise creators commend the kids camp. And I thought their pirates cove for kids was amazing. Good point. Their prices are good but nickel and dime elsewhere. One thing I’ll say. We are not WiFi folks but now get basic when on group cruises. MSC basic WiFi let me get on Facebook, IG, TikTok and UA-cam. But on Celebrity Edge with basic, only facebook and IG opened. Only folks with premium got all 4. Thanks for sharing 🤗
Just cruised 7/28-8/1 had a wonderful time Rev Dr E kept the party going day and night food wasnt great but Buffet and Central Park was very good elevators definitely a problem got a lot of exercise on steps overall great experience
Dr E used to be a cruise director for Carnival. Fun fact, he also competed on season 4 of Netflix’s The Circle. Me and my mom still say “book book book it in the app” because of him saying that so often in his announcements during our carnival sailing.
I watch the Circle, but I couldn't remember the cruise directors name that competed, he was definitely cool! How fun to get him as your cruise director.
Great job Alyssa! My husband and I are MSC fans having been on 10 different cruises with 6 different ships (Seaside, Seascape, Seashore, Armonia, Meraviglia x2 and Divina x 4) all balcony cabins except one time in Yacht Club). Yours and Cullen's reviews of the Seashore are spot on in my opinion. All of the MSC ship experiences that my husband and I had seem to be similar to your description of Seashore. In other words, the ships are the same or very similar. Keep up these great reviews (and we LOVE seeing Noah...cutest baby ever!!!)
We cruised MSC seaside last year and had a pretty bad experience. Biggest issue was the food for us, which is a major aspect of cruising for me. We also happened to be on the first trip that ship took after the failed health inspection so I’m wondering if they just had to throw out most the fresh food and wait for another shipment. Like no lettuce on the salad bar and canned peas with carrots at dinner, that type of bad. They only had half n half for coffee on the first day and then ran out, things like that where you could tell they were just running out of things left and right. But we also have a 6 year old and he LOVED the kids activities, so we are thinking of booking again to see if the logistics have been fixed with the food. Cause that private island was AMAZING to us, I’d like to just park there for a few days lol
Surprised your room was in poor cleanliness considering you were in Aurea class. BTW - there are numerous FREE umbrellas on Ocean Cay, but yes you'll have to be off the ship early to get one. What people easily forget with MSC is the price they paid. Folks, you get what you pay for - and actually with MSC you get MORE. Don't be expecting a 5 star quality on a 2 star budget.
We loved our cruise on the Seashore. 8 out of 10. We never had a problem on the ship. Yes, the elevators are different. Similar to the new Carnival ships. The pizza was the BEST PIZZA at sea. It beats all the other cruise lines. The only complaint I have is the debarkation process needs improving.
Wow... as a "not yet" been on a cruise guy... from this review I'm definitely NOT going on MSC anytime soon. That room would make me ask for my money back before leaving port.
I have been on several lines, high end ships, and on this ship. This is the only line I have been on since 2020 that cleans the room at least twice a day. I am in a lot of groups as well who talk about MSC, and the experience described here is not consistent with experiences I have had first hand, or have heard second hand from thousands of others. Every line has their moments... I would not write off MSC. I have never remotely known as many people to go back on the exact same cruise as the MSC 7 day out of Cape Canaveral. First time I immediately booked the exact same cruise a few months later. :)
I'm spoiled by the Yacht Club - did it last September and have another one booked for this September - that will be the only way for me from here on out - truly top notch!
Same here!🎉 I'm completely spoiled by The Yacht Club❤ from boarding the ship, to the amenities on the 🏝 island. I'm hooked. I refuse to cruise any other way now.
We ⛵️ on the Seaside 1 year ago this week. I will probably never sail with msc again. Nickel and dime you to death, food was bland, NO ICE at buffet, and overall rude staff. We were excited about getting off the boat, and that has never happened...
I have never cruised MSC and would take a hard pass on them because of the reviews, even though the fares are enticing. Princess checks all the boxes for me right now and I love the medium sized ships with a full promenade deck.
I appreciate your review on your family exprience. I still not sold on this cruise line. I'm beyond middle age and I cannot tell you how many times during a day on 7-14 day cruises I found myself running down or walking up stairs to and from my cabin. Slow elevators are common amongst cruise lines. These days I only travel on NCL and Virgin and they do not have destination elevators. On my last cruise I was on a high deck and I too could see on to the balconies on many guest below-- interesting but not a pretty site. However, folks garbage landing on your balcony is so very not cool. I typically in the gym as we cruise into port so I can just see the beauty of the destination port.
I think it is important to match the cost of MSC cruises with the expectations. If I received MSC quality food/experience on Celebrity, then there is a problem. For sailings commonly less than Carnivals older ships, the MSC experience probably matches its price. As long as people know that going in, I am sure it would rate more fairly online.
Thanks Alyssa great information. I did have a question. I loved yawls outfits that coordinating and I think I messaged on a different board. I was wondering where you got those and what brand they are. Thank you so much. Oh and I agree the thing with elevator that’s not good and also, I would be picky about the elevators as well. That’s not safe. :-) Vic in Ga
Great review! I'm allergic to chocolate so the Ice cream review would 100% affect me. I cruised on MSC in June and I broke out because of the breads. I didn't realize until the 5th day that the breads were being cross-contaminated with chocolate croissants, muffins etc. I then had to ask to get bread from another batch that was not touching any chocolate but it took me a long time to explain and then eventually spoke with the head waiter for them to understand why.
OK, me again let’s talk about that balcony when we were on that same ship we stayed one deck above one of those balconies and it was filthy and full of bird crap and other peoples trash. The chairs were all over the place and never arranged. It was horrible. The whole experience was a nightmare, but those balconies there is no way I would pay extra for that and have been happy.
I went on Seascape last summer after all the bad reviews and man was I surprised. We LOVED it. My teens also super loved it. I asked about it compared to Royal and they said they liked both for different reasons. It was sooo clean too! Someone was always cleaning! But the thermal spa for the win!!! Worth the money!
We did not have the same experience as you with the umbrellas. We put our things on a set chairs with an umbrella, and a staff member came up to us to ask if we wanted to “rent” the umbrella. We said no and moved our things. SO it depends where on Ocean Cay you are to whether you have to carry the umbrella or not.
im going on my very first cruise in november thru Norwegian....i am a tad nervous tho as i struggle at times with IBS and im curious what the initial "checkin" on boarding process is like as well as the final de-boarding. Does it go pretty quick or are you standing in lines outside the ship for 45+ minutes waiting to get on board? Do they provide bathroom access any way while you are standing in lines?
I've cruised twice. Both times NCL. Getting on and off the ship was quick both times. My boarding time was 1:00 to 1:30 each time. I would choose the latest time if I were you. If you get an earlier time, you'll be stuck not being able to get in your room for hours.
Oh wowza so glad to hear Dr. E is on MSC. He is one of our faves from Carnival years ago- makes me want to book just to cruise with him again. I tell you- muster drills were our favorite with him 😂
OK, me again i’m gonna go back to the cabin again and the cabin steward. We never saw him or her. We have no idea who it was never once laid eyes on them. I think they came in and threw the covers over the bed and changed out the towels, which were never dry, have I mentioned that I thought this was a horrible experience lol
Good review, but each ship is individual and there are many ships that need to be reviewed as they would fail in comparison to this ship in the different cruise lines available. We have cruised many cruise lines and ships and find the best Celebrity and MSC high up for us. Carnival can be uncivilized and Royal Carribbean with awful fool as far as we are concerned. Going on our 5th MSC ship the Seascape end of August and looking forward to that experience.
I'm on Meraviglia at this moment. I paid $1400 to cruise for a week (including my wife). I've adjusted my expectations from sailing with NCL. This is my second time on this ship, and it's amazing. You're paying for the Ramada but expecting the Hilton. This is the most amazing, beautiful ship for the money. All your video thumbnails show you looking unhappy, I'm not sure there's anyway to please you. Good Luck.
It’s clear that the video is a part of a series comparing the reviews on cruise critic and whether they are true or not. Clearly lots of cruisers don’t have good experiences (simply look at the reviews) People have different experiences and clearly your experience was different than there’s and many others. Glad you enjoyed your vacation but obviously it’s not just a ‘nothing can please you’ when the data is there the ship has a 2.6 out of 5 on cruise critic.
I love MSC seaside. The ship and staff were awesome... the private island didn't do it for me, tho. (That's mainly because im from the Caribbean and have seen way better islands ). So i mostly stay on the ship
I thought all cruise lines required you to rent umbrellas at their beaches. I just got off the Mardi Gras and we had to pay also. I had such low expectations for MSC because of the cost and reviews but was pleasantly surprised. The food was mediocre but I’ve only been impressed with Virgin’s food. Entertainment was ok but the ship was beautiful and I noticed ongoing maintenance. Overall I felt I got what I paid for.
It is a Europen cruise line. So, pretty understandable. We always ask the room steward for wash cloths on the first day when we first meet them. From that point on, we receive washcloths. Same for the box of tissues if it's not already in the room. Very quick and easy fix. Similar to when we stay in some European hotels.
I have heard so many mixed reviews of MSC Ships from friends and Colleagues, from one saying the buffet and dining room food was terrible to another saying it was awesome. The same for room service and cleaning, wait times at the bars. Drinks etc. now these comments came from multiple ships so it seems like you almost spin the wheel and hope that you get good food, clean rooms and good service, but they all were in agreement that the ships are beautiful, have lots to do, and the variety of entertainment was excellent.
Barring the child care, this review of MSC is quite different from a previous review. When you went alone you didn't mention anything negative. From other reviews, I find that their customer service is and will always be lacking. There's no excuse to wait 45 minutes for towels and mold in your cabin is unacceptable.
OK, let’s go back to service. That was the worst part they must have known who you were because I would venture to say 70% of the people that I spoke with on that ship all had the same complaint. None of these servers would even make eye contact with us we couldn’t get them to talk to us. A bartender would refuse to look at you. They wouldn’t acknowledge you. It was the rudest bunch of people I have ever seen, and I really don’t require a whole lot
OK, let’s talk about the elevators. I may have shared this with you already on a previous video about this cruise line, but you have to punch that elevator for however many people are in your party. You can’t put in that you wanna go to the deck 15 and expect four people to be able to get on that elevator that’s part of the problem. People are not aware of that and it is not explained, I do not like those elevators. I don’t like this ship or this cruise line. I’ve been on it. No thank you. I have other things. I’m gonna complain about lol see you in a minute.
OK, it’s me again. I have to stop the video. I will forget what I need to tell you let’s talk about the food the food sucks . You should not have to pay for specialty dining to get a decent meal on any cruise ship. The pizza was mediocre. That’s how I survived that short time I was on that ship and was very excited that I canceled the next one I had already booked and paid for, you OK back to the video
Final Thoughts:
I would give the MSC Seashore a SAIL-ish rating. Overall, the cruise offers a lot of enjoyable amenities and activities. However, one aspect to consider is that room cleanliness can be hit or miss, with some guests experiencing issues. Based on what I've seen, MSC is a hit and miss. Some encounter no issues others more than a few.
I’m allergic to chocolate 😮
Barring the child care, this review of MSC is quite different from a previous review. When you went alone you didn't mention anything negative. From other reviews, I find that their customer service is and will always be lacking. There's no excuse to wait 45 minutes for towels and mold in your cabin is unacceptable.
Different ship and staff I guess? We’ll be working on ways figure out their oversights and submit feedback so they can improve.
Thanks for watching =]
We always have extra towels in our cabin. At least two each extra. Towels never an issue.
I’m gonna complain about lol see you in a minute.
lol 😂
OK, it’s me again. I have to stop the video. I will forget what I need to tell you let’s talk about the food the food sucks . You should not have to pay for specialty dining to get a decent meal on any cruise ship. The pizza was mediocre. That’s how I survived that short time I was on that ship and was very excited that I canceled the next one I had already booked and paid for, you OK back to the video
