Not 1991, it was released in 1989.
Mistake: The 168’s case is actually slightly bigger (I believe about 2mm) than the F91 case. It’s the chrome 158 which has the same size case as the F91.
Yes it is, the 168 is slightly larger to accommodate the EL backlight module. I'm pretty sure that I'm not telling anyone anything new. Good call though.
I’m more of a hillbilly than a hipster and I love the 168. I’m a sucker for things that are well-built, affordable, and relatively aesthetically pleasing. Since you can only spend the money once, I try to choose wisely. Casio, Toyota, etc.
The a168 is a chrome plated plastic case, NOT stainless steel. Now the original back in the day was a stainless steel case, but not anymore.

I'm lucky enough to have a good condition A155W. Exactly the same as the modern F91W series, but with the old 'natural' back-light. When that watch gets broken or too scruffy to wear, I will transfer the module into a brand-new F91W case (and replace the battery at the same time!)

Another hidden benefit of the A168WA is that you can try to barter it for an overnight stay at a motel in a pinch

Great watch and many make a mistake that it was released in 1991 when it was 89. I also had the model before called the f84 and this one has now been released again

Ive swum with the first watch in a pool every morning for years. I occasionally get an issue after a 3 or 4 years & normally when I swim in the sea. Basically its fine to swim every day with the fiirst watch

I think you have a fake A168. Yours is missing the "U" at the bottom and the buttons are hard to press.
Or you could just get the gold f-91w with black resin band.
Sleek, easy to find, reliable as any, and has easier buttons to push that the other example (I'm bad with the serial numbers too mate)

I don’t really get your statement that the silver casio is for hipsters. If i think of a vintage casio i think of a silver one and casio has always made these, even longer than the black resin models.
Very true, the silver Casio is what I would class as the original retro watch,like what I would have worn back in the 1980s.
I noticed that every review of the F91 has mentioned how dim the light is and all that blah,blah, blah but the true design of the light is when you are woken up in the middle of the night from sleep, when checking the time the dim light won't affect your eyes leaving your eyesight spotted by a bright light (said GIZMO) sorry flashback for a minute no but really the truth is it won't leave your eyes blinded by a brighter light and it won't give away your position in military situation.

You mean the w-59 I guess, the f91w is also 30m. These ratings are always underrated, you can easily swim with both of them.
