My best guess as to why papyrus appears during sans fight is because he’s causing us to hallucinate basically doing psychic damage that or he’s causing his hallucination of papyrus to effect us so we can see him as well and that the papyrus were fighting is just sans but his visage just looks different from the hallucination and or has a personality disorder which might explain as to why papyrus could exist since if sans had the papyrus personality then he would be acting more like him making him believe papyrus is alive while not knowing it’s just himself
29:48 Holy shit this part is so badass though, I love it when games sync things or sound effects with the music. 31:42 Also this part was just funny to me, an entire scene for Sans meant to make you sad and then when the game ends it hits you with the happy music and then the "YOU SHOULD LOVE YOURSELF, NOW!"
So in the hotel and core, there's secret messages if you keep interacting over and over again with everything with some being very creepy and showing how Chara is forced into this by the player and not in free will (like deltarune)
When I first watched somebody play this game while eating spaghetti ( because why not ) I genuinely didn’t know whether it was trying to be a creepypasta or a fever dream. I guess both. Another great video
Whelp Dusttale Distrust was definitely an experience. Asgore is now an evil version of him turned eleven, Papyrus went full edgelord and is gone in a snap, and Toriel, Alphys and Undyne aren't there. And once again another fanmade Sans fight. Also why is Sans' sprite weird to look at because what is that thing hanging? Is it gloves?
The Sans battle theme SLAPS. So many leitmotifs combined, but I only noticed "sans.", "Spookwave", and "mus_star", and well... I am biased about leitmotives. They always get best of me, and this time is no different. ESPECIALLY THE STAR PART OMG, which for a Chara fan like myself kinda makes it. Emotional dialogue was... a bit baseless, and stuff, but it still works on me well, I am sentimental af. I think just a bit more of foreshadowing would actually fix it. Like, monologues like these is a lot like how I speak to depressed people, just trying calculate their thoughts and jabbing at what they might not have even known they needed to hear. And at least in short terms, it seems to be quite a good and working type of therapy. But I digress, this dialohue loses some plausibility having no setup.
All the Terror in this game feels so forced man... At this point, I kind of feel like the Halos Dustbelief Papyrus did the best job at portraying the horrors of a long gone Papyrus Really good papyrus battle, I really wish more people know about the Haloboi version
this comment made me curious about halo's dustbelief, while watching phase 1 was a slog, i was enjoying how phase 2 looks, and 3? oh boy, that's... a pretty comprehensible horror.
@@NovaAeternus i know right? maybe the phase one was a little bit boring, but the phase 2 and 3 are one of my favorite takes about dusttale and the souls
Halos version of dustbelief was probably the best one imo when I first saw the cutscene before p3 thought “oh he’s gonna become a god or some shit using the souls how original” in which, he does but in the most fucking creepy and unexpected way possible which I REALLY liked phase 1 was a bit boring phase 2 was nice, my favorite phase as well but I didn’t get the hype and then yeah, phase 3 hit me lol I also liked the change of story tbh. Halo did a REALLY great job making his dustbelief take, deadass.
Good video, i personally really enjoyed playing. At the start is was the player talking. Papyrus lines connect with each other, they aren’t mean to be taken separately. Asriel didn’t use bones, and I’m pretty sure he was just an illusion. The same way papyrus likely is, as he’s completely out of character, and outright invisible when talking to sans and the same way faceless chara has to be. Meaning flowey is alive. How was the barrier broken? With your soul from the core explosion Im guessing. Also, my guess is sans is either teleporting the three, or just for cool effects and it’s not actually happening (probably not happening since when the Core explodes, the doesn’t teleport but run.)
The barrier was broken because towards the end of sans final attack there was a warning that flashed on the screen saying: Core explosion imminent. It was easy to miss but it is y sans ran and u died. He prob then teleported back to get ur soul or something. I hope I helped :)
can't even lie, sans TAKING the hit whilst telling the human "COME AT ME" goes hard. despite the grammar errors, UT sprites/sudden sprite changes and spelling mistakes, this was rather fine, edit: also in 14:35, sans originally said "It doesn't matter how old you are." (it was in a video before the whole fangame was released, which showed only Phase 1 of the final battle)
for all the mood whiplashes, i have to say, the game genuinely did manage to hit some beats. i like sans trying to guilt trip you into resetting, then being disappointed when you don't take the VERY OBVIOUS EASY WAY OUT he offered you by trying to gaster blaster you on the ONLY remaining button in the UI (FIGHT), and all of papyrus's purgatory segments legitimately gave me pause, even if they were edgy. also, i love the fact that sans's theme constantly has CORE and STAR leitmotifs in it, both are such underrated bangers, STAR especially, i don't see many fan tracks abuse the hell out of its banger motif...
A ton of things are missing in this fangame. Its underswap, they forgot asriel and monsterkid had their roles swapped..... Same goes for Flowey and Temmie The Save Screen shows all the original undertale cast Honestly with the amount of things in this fangame that are straight up NOT underswap universe, I think that would be a good idea to change sans for papyrus and make all this a Dustbelief Papyrus fangame.
Man I like you and I like your videos and honestly it make me feel that every ut video you make has something unique instead of the same undertale content i used to watch back in 2021-2022 don't lose that please
I was not ready for as much of a laugh as I got from this game oh man. Although, I have to mention that the Asgore fight being done in 2 days is CRAZY impressive. Like, I spent weeks making a crappy Flappy Bird clone, and the devs casually do that in 2 days, major props.
If I had to describe this one sentence, it would be: "WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON" Also, I believe in the Sans fight, the reason the background changes a lot is because the room you're in looks like some sort of projection room, or at least that's my take on it.
I watched Azzy's full gameplay of this game and I dare say I'm impressed with the quality !! Though I noticed that there is a lot of things this fangame has bizarrely executed. One being the asgore being "insane" thing. I get that he's a broken and sad person, but him projecting allat to the human felt kinda... weird? It was indeed funny too lol 2nd being the flowey and the story having some of Undertale in it. That just felt off for me the entire time, but I don't know TS Underswap that much to be able to know how much of it is mixed with Canonswap to form this amalgamation in a pretty strange sense. I'm going to tell my own opinion abt this but I guess I would've preferred it being a full Underswap/Canonswap based fangame. Hey, that's just me! Lastly, the way sans' insanity and papyrus' creepiness is protrayed here is just amazing considering most people who are in sans' position could ACTUALLY act that way. Papyrus being THAT horrific is something I actually didn't think would be cool to see. The edginess actually fits in for once. Not too much, but not subtle either. I give this dusttrust an 8 over 10. A few inconsistencies but considering it only took months to make this? Pretty amazing if you ask me. If ever this fangame gets updated I'm sure it'll get go down as an amazing take on dusttrust!
Hello, nice review I am not associated with azzys dusttrust though I would like to point some things out and express the way I see other things within the game. •Im pretty sure the backgrounds in the sans encounter are sentimental imagery (as if sans' and our memories were flashing before our eyes.) •In canonswap, only the main cast and more significant characters are swapped, not the minor characters (so that could apply to this even though it isnt exactly based on canonswap, or, yknow, azzy just couldnt find the assets or forgot that this was underswap lol) •One big thing I should point out is that this game uses the Kasssm era of the original dusttrust as a basis to work off of. So that means that there are certain things that had to be accomodated for such as- •The Kasssm era version of homicidal lunacy (the song in sans encounter) ends with a flowey laugh in the audio so I guess Azzy just felt the need to put that flowey vision in the ending to sybch the whole song to battle. •Sans' sprite change in the special attack is actually the phase 2 sprite from that sans design (december, the original sprite srtist made the design for kasssm's dusttrust, and it had a different phase 2 concept where sans looses his mind faster and goes all out on you striking a new pose.) Thats all bye
The slowdown when Sans dodges could've been cool if it was just the first time to really sell the idea that he has all this power and can STILL dodge to make him a genuine threat.
Honestly this game has alot of cons but alot of pros at the same time, the sprite work is absolutely amazing imo especially that papyrus sprite or that coo-coo crazy sprite for sans that has seriously has way to much emotion (hes staring into my soul), now probably one of my only cons with this game is how little phases there are personally i was was fine with 4 phases for dusttrust before, heck this version not having phases is legit one of the big reasons why people like it, but me personally i really loved the old phases because it showed just how far sans will truly go just to stop you in your tracks even if thats taking away any resemblence he had from his origional self (phase 4), my man even did a undyne and legit got determination, justice and patience from alphys (my man has legit insane plot armor), not only that but a very key thing in phase 4 is that sans never obsorbed the green/kindness soul, now my theory for that is he thinks that the human is not irredeemable and that it can make him hold back against the human, so he refuses to obsorb it, another and my only other con is how little time we get from the interactions from these characters (especially asgore), i guess you cant think of any other interactions since sans' fight is at core and that means there isnt any time for a napstablook encounter, but still man, i just think there just shouldve been more build up to this sans fight, also a encpunter with sans before he killed papyrus wouldve been also very interesting aswell. Anyway everything else besides that i have no problems with personally if i could rate this game from 1 to 10 it would prob be a 8.6 outta 10 i hope to see more stuff from azzy lowkey
I love how this game is a perfect mix of actually good quotes like "If gods can fall, then angels fall faster" and top quality *shit* like "Your doing a great job!" 🔥🔥🔥
Overall, while in practice there's a lot of things that aren't properly done in terms of grammar, the story(which is probably the most noteworthy thing here, as the sprites are reused from unfinished projects and UT itself) isn't all that horrible, at least in terms of skeleton brothers themselves. Papyrus basically only talks nonsense at this point, caught up in his delusions. The main thing to note here is how the game typically seems to show you things for insanity. Papyrus stands there during his encounter with the slow, hardly a song in the background, with a dimmer screen and the good ol' shaking effect. Sans later on has slowdowns of the song as well as the same dimming vfx, as attempts to feel out of place and discomforting just like his brother. Overall though, this is less prevalent throughout his fight, and only at one point does it get as dim as Papyrus' As noted, he's trying to keep calm. Though, it does break this habit for the final 2 attacks, though those are broken up by countless visuals which try conveying the same idea in a different matter as he loses himself. The background changes seem to be more symbolic of what is currently going through his mind than literal. Hence the change to the surface during the "sparing" section. Then you have the papyrus and faceless intersections of the sans fight. You can still dodge attacks during those, but it doesn't matter. You're more or less forced to watch those happen. And then? You're forced to fight. Doesn't matter what they say or not, just the good old logic of keep on attacking. Rather fitting for a dusttale adjacent fight. Overall, the main thematic of this is focused on their deteriorating mental states. Papyrus ends up being a example of the end result, while Sans shows the process.
Yeah, the game certainly seemed, inconsistent...but I too, liked the Papyrus encounter. It captured the scariness of the insanity that occurs when one murders an entire civilization out of necessity, making Papyrus seem very, VERY intimidating. (Much more than sans, who, with some sprites looked slightly goofy.) Though, I was hoping for that punching sprite for sans to be used, with an added melee attack, because it seems like he would be a close combat fighter.

nah i feel it's trying too hard, papyrus sprite is goofy (blud thinks he a sonic.exe) and the flash of light looks annoying
I feel like every papyrus scene during the fight with sans is just sans attacking you, while you get flashbacks to papyrus
I think it's just ghost papyrus. Like in the 2018 dusttale fangame where its ghost papyrus.
@@basethecharcoal True, but it wouldn't make sense so listen to my explanation:
Papyrus is the ONLY person we fleed from, maybe from fear, and the same resemblance to Sans and Papyrus's Insanity will probably get a flashback to Papyrus
@@gangsterspongebob6020 Or... Hear me out... Its just like dustbelief / dusttale
@@basethecharcoal valid point tbh I agree
I mean, it does have dust in it.... so does dusttale... Hm...

"YOU SERVE 0 PURPOSE"

So in the hotel and core, there's secret messages if you keep interacting over and over again with everything with some being very creepy and showing how Chara is forced into this by the player and not in free will (like deltarune)
When I first watched somebody play this game while eating spaghetti ( because why not ) I genuinely didn’t know whether it was trying to be a creepypasta or a fever dream. I guess both.
Another great video
Papyrus: Is actually a threat, menacing
Sans: Takes his life in two seconds

But I digress, this dialohue loses some plausibility having no setup.
the theme seems to have a bit of bonetrousle and megalo strike back
When you said you can't stop thinking about this game, I thought it was because the game was good.
My right ear loved the voice acting in this game
All the Terror in this game feels so forced man... At this point, I kind of feel like the Halos Dustbelief Papyrus did the best job at portraying the horrors of a long gone Papyrus
Really good papyrus battle, I really wish more people know about the Haloboi version
this comment made me curious about halo's dustbelief, while watching phase 1 was a slog, i was enjoying how phase 2 looks, and 3? oh boy, that's... a pretty comprehensible horror.
@@NovaAeternus i know right? maybe the phase one was a little bit boring, but the phase 2 and 3 are one of my favorite takes about dusttale and the souls
Halos version of dustbelief was probably the best one imo
when I first saw the cutscene before p3 thought “oh he’s gonna become a god or some shit using the souls how original”
in which, he does but
in the most fucking creepy and unexpected way possible which I REALLY liked
phase 1 was a bit boring
phase 2 was nice, my favorite phase as well but I didn’t get the hype
and then yeah, phase 3 hit me lol
I also liked the change of story tbh. Halo did a REALLY great job making his dustbelief take, deadass.
Sans: oofs himself
Sans 1 second later: someone loves you!
I guess Chara is insane and that explains half of wtf moments
Gonna get Azzy(Owner of this fangame to react to this review)(since I got his discord server)

Nevermind, I clicked it so fast the audio didn't even load in yet.
can't even lie, sans TAKING the hit whilst telling the human "COME AT ME" goes hard.
despite the grammar errors, UT sprites/sudden sprite changes and spelling mistakes, this was rather fine,
edit: also in 14:35, sans originally said "It doesn't matter how old you are." (it was in a video before the whole fangame was released, which showed only Phase 1 of the final battle)
Im not sure if "I frankly dont care how old you are" was intentional or not, this game's so wild it may have not been meant to be taken out of context
@@Military_base01 i don't think it was, i suppose it was to answer "You wouldn't take the lives of two kids. Right, Sans?"

for all the mood whiplashes, i have to say, the game genuinely did manage to hit some beats. i like sans trying to guilt trip you into resetting, then being disappointed when you don't take the VERY OBVIOUS EASY WAY OUT he offered you by trying to gaster blaster you on the ONLY remaining button in the UI (FIGHT), and all of papyrus's purgatory segments legitimately gave me pause, even if they were edgy.
also, i love the fact that sans's theme constantly has CORE and STAR leitmotifs in it, both are such underrated bangers, STAR especially, i don't see many fan tracks abuse the hell out of its banger motif...
GARTEN OF BANBAN ASS VOICE ACTING

Okay, I think the reason behind Asriel appearing out of nowhere was because to him, being able to feel emotion again truly was “purgatory”.
Holdup, his writing is FIRE?
It feels like for the special attack sans fully loosing him self rapidly
A ton of things are missing in this fangame.
Its underswap, they forgot asriel and monsterkid had their roles swapped.....
Same goes for Flowey and Temmie
The Save Screen shows all the original undertale cast
Honestly with the amount of things in this fangame that are straight up NOT underswap universe, I think that would be a good idea to change sans for papyrus and make all this a Dustbelief Papyrus fangame.
Asgore forgot to take his daily dose of tea lmao.
You should talk about Undertale: Something New if you haven’t cause it’s pretty interesting.
Man I like you and I like your videos and honestly it make me feel that every ut video you make has something unique instead of the same undertale content i used to watch back in 2021-2022
don't lose that please
Apparently in this au, your and you're also swap.
I was not ready for as much of a laugh as I got from this game oh man. Although, I have to mention that the Asgore fight being done in 2 days is CRAZY impressive. Like, I spent weeks making a crappy Flappy Bird clone, and the devs casually do that in 2 days, major props.
From the stolen sprites to the - -meme- Oscar worthy writing. This fangame is just perfect.
The beginning of the core fight honestly feels like a ytp
This feels like an Underswap game that forgot it was Underswap halfway through
If I had to describe this one sentence, it would be: "WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON"
Also, I believe in the Sans fight, the reason the background changes a lot is because the room you're in looks like some sort of projection room, or at least that's my take on it.
I guess underswap chara also went insane mid-battle????
dusttrust papyrus looking like a silly billy
Sillypyrus
I watched Azzy's full gameplay of this game and I dare say I'm impressed with the quality !! Though I noticed that there is a lot of things this fangame has bizarrely executed. One being the asgore being "insane" thing. I get that he's a broken and sad person, but him projecting allat to the human felt kinda... weird? It was indeed funny too lol
2nd being the flowey and the story having some of Undertale in it.
Hello, nice review
I am not associated with azzys dusttrust though I would like to point some things out and express the way I see other things within the game.
•Im pretty sure the backgrounds in the sans encounter are sentimental imagery (as if sans' and our memories were flashing before our eyes.)
•In canonswap, only the main cast and more significant characters are swapped, not the minor characters (so that could apply to this even though it isnt exactly based on canonswap, or, yknow, azzy just couldnt find the assets or forgot that this was underswap lol)
•One big thing I should point out is that this game uses the Kasssm era of the original dusttrust as a basis to work off of. So that means that there are certain things that had to be accomodated for such as-
•The Kasssm era version of homicidal lunacy (the song in sans encounter) ends with a flowey laugh in the audio so I guess Azzy just felt the need to put that flowey vision in the ending to sybch the whole song to battle.
•Sans' sprite change in the special attack is actually the phase 2 sprite from that sans design (december, the original sprite srtist made the design for kasssm's dusttrust, and it had a different phase 2 concept where sans looses his mind faster and goes all out on you striking a new pose.)
Thats all bye
The slowdown when Sans dodges could've been cool if it was just the first time to really sell the idea that he has all this power and can STILL dodge to make him a genuine threat.
And that hero that *SAVIOUR* is going to be me...
*WALUI-*
30:32 most likely a callback to his actual 2nd phase sprite
The scariest thing about this game is how many times it says "your" instead of "you're".

The only thing I like is the paps sprite and “IF GODS CAN FALL, ANGLES FALL FASTER”
Dusttrust (simulator) X, coming to a gamejolt near you..
I love how this game is a perfect mix of actually good quotes like "If gods can fall, then angels fall faster" and top quality *shit* like "Your doing a great job!" 🔥🔥🔥
it has really good lines and then it uses the wrong your/you're in every single fucking instance of those words and also like 30 trillion misspellings
Overall though, this is less prevalent throughout his fight, and only at one point does it get as dim as Papyrus'
As noted, he's trying to keep calm.
Papyrus ends up being a example of the end result, while Sans shows the process.
the goofy ass NYEHEHEHE sound effect
major 'i remember you're genocides' vibes goin on here
Yeah, the game certainly seemed, inconsistent...but I too, liked the Papyrus encounter.
