I understand your concern, I really do. But I do have valid reasons for saying Africa rather than Kenya.
      1. It's true, I am African
      2. The content of this video spanned across a large chunk of the continent, not to mention the fact that none of the major events that caught my attention happened in Kenya.
      3. I love African history, the only problem is that information concerning our history is relatively scarce and difficult to come by, that's why I don't really care what part of the continent it came from, I take it anyway.
It was more fitting to use the term African in this context.

The UK. and Portugal have been allies since both signed the Treaty of Windsor in 1386. But in Africa, the UK. got heavy handed with there ally Portugal. Portugal claimed the land in-between Angola and Mozambique but some said that would derail Rhodes plan to construct a North to South railway through UK. African territories. In the end, in 1890 after the UK. gave Portugal an ultimatum, Portugal had no choice but to drop there claim. The following explains it all - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_Map

The "chopping hands" thing was more of an African thing and nothing the Belgians did. African enslaved soldiers had to bring a right hand for every bullet they did not return to the arsenal to prevent the blacks from stealing. What the black slaves then did, was to chop off the right hands of their fellow men, to put bullets aside for an upcoming revolt against the Belgians. Chopping off limbs is an african cultural thing .. not very common in the West

Surnames, royal titles and formalities in Britain are more scattered than any other country, and it’s funnily enough due to the amount of British aristocrats who died in war because they didn’t duck when being shot at. You know, to commit to the whole “stiff upper lip” tradition. The issue with William the Conqueror is that he simply inherited a vacant throne and was very willing to keep things the same. A Norseman conquering other Norsemen and Germanic peoples. Protestantism and the civil war was the final cut off point in which anything in relation to Rome or Normandy was simply recognition, such as the coat of arms motto or the Roman names for places. Italians were a bit more relevant, not as nasty as belgians, but still kind of cruel, specially under Mussolini. Portuguese were more of a subsidiary of UK. 1. Did Zulus actually wore British uniforms when the fought the British in the Zulu war.
    2. When you say British African troops did the British not include natives until the 1900s or did they just use white colonist for their colonial army.
P.S I would love to see a video on the French colonization of Africa or the difference between how Europeans run their colonies like you said the British gave concessions to the whites in Africa and even gave local governments the ability to get natives in to the army and use local tribes against each other . While the French tend not to use local troops or give colonial territory much autonomy of fear of revolts against the French. I don’t know just something that I thought might be cool to learn

@@Squival138 "maybe because a school curriculam covering an entire continent that is not the native continent is strange?" that would make sense if it didn't have as much of an impact on the current state of the continent today. History in school should be focused on making you learn what brought the world to what it is today, and in this interconnected world, with strong powers rising in what used to be colonised regions, it would at least be good that those points are covered.
I'll give you an example from my country (France): when talking about WW2, we stay extremely Euro-centric, and extremely basic about it. UK, US, France and USSR against Italy Japan and Germany is often the simplification of the war we hear about, the involvement of minor baltic nations, or the chinese front (Which is at the same time the least covered thing in the West and at the same time one of the most important event to understand how the CCP took power.)

For those interested, I once read a book about an 18th century Scottish-Dutch explorer(Robert Gordon) who stayed with boers during his many travels. That little segment of South Africa reminded me of it, so I shall share with you some information I found quite fascinating.
They were as independent under Dutch rule as they were under British rule. They felt nothing for Cape Town and barely ever recognized the laws that passed there. The further Gordon got from Cape Town, the poorer the farmhouses became. Where nearby farms had healthy families, thriving herds and great fields of crops, the most distant farmsteads were nothing more than a wooden shack. Families were reduced to single men or women. Children were hardly around. Their meals consisted of many varieties of dried meats, as they slowly became hunter-gatherers.
As Cape Town grew more influential, the farmers migrated further inland. Some struck it rich, acting as little monarchs for those farmers who lived close to him. Close meaning less than a weeks ride away.
Throughout all this there was the ever lasting struggle over territory with the native population, which was part of the reason Gordon stayed with the boers. Now, for those who like to romanticize the boers: Gordon described most of them as having lost any sense of what it means to be human. The cruelties they committed against the natives I shall not write down here, but I think we can all imagine what happened (In turn, the acts committed by the natives on the boers were equally horrible). Even the Dutch, who weren’t exactly known for their outstanding treatment of the native and the enslaved, thought the boers had crossed a line, and sent Gordon as an impartial negotiatior to try and end the conflict. Unfortunarely he didn’t manage to achieve a lot. The natives weren’t willing to give up their land, and the boers still didn’t want anything to do with Cape Town.
After his several voyages Gordon became commander of the Cape Town garrison, a position he still had when the British fleet arrived. Because Gordon complied with British terms he was quickly seen as a traitor by many of his own soldiers. He himself was now cast out of society. He withdrew to his home in Cape Town, living out his final days amidst the artifacts, maps and sketches from his travels before he shot himself in October 1795.

      now about present day🤷🏻‍♂️🇹🇷
I will say this Colonialism has not ended..... it evolved. let me explain. before colonialism " ends " the west chose the leaders of countries to keep their interest in regions take france for example.
      www.ieri.be/en/publications/wp/2019/f-vrier/france-still-exploiting-africa
and take me for example. i am from the middle east and here our " dictators" have been chosen by the west not by us and here they uneducate people Historically , economically and religiously because that's what sustain their rule and my country is rich ,but money is nothing for me and for us muslims in general and here we eat we drink and we sleep ( not me i always study and seek knowledge in all fronts as best as i can and am a civil engineer ) even the cattle eat drinks and sleeps. here🇰🇼 courrption is too obvious and we muslims are in phase one and that's " Realization " to be fully aware from politics to history to religion. and every time a Muslim nation rises the west is unsatisfied and want to overthrow the government. Gaddafi, mursi,Yemeni leader Salah , King faisal in the 70s ( he got assassinated) ....etc way a lot i can't go over them all.
HOWEVER, before the Arab spring this i admit was not clear to all of us ,but after the Arab spring EVERYTHING WAS CLEAR. we now came to realize misery is built by the happiness of others and our leaders and boarders were chosen and drawn by the west and we must amd will over throw our governments and stop the western intervention in our lands. sorry forgot ( the western people have nothing to do with their governments in fact we are all slaves to this corrupted system we live under " capitalism " or communism both you use " banks" made you know by who i don't have to explain).
now about "slavery has evolved" and this time it favors no race only one in fact 👃 and it favors mostly the dollar. we are born to serve and sustain the system and the system milks the life out of us and we gain " invaluable paper money " in return and sometimes we get in debt which is literally an invisible chain in the neck. basically we are living inside bank and the bank choses who succeed and who doesn't and the bank plays with economy and who built it? "the red shield" known as the rothschilds.
our muslim lands are the battlefield of the super powers and when you say next time why refugees are in Europe ask yourself what caused them to be there? that's the correct question.
Russia is causing the refugee crisis in Europe by bombing the Syrians and helping Assad to kill his people and the refugees are a toy to send them to Turkey and Europe to weaken their economy and make the left wing fight right wing start wars. Russia has an agenda and don't get wrong Russia, china and America/western Europe are fighting for their agenda to who rules who. all of them are trash.
now i want to put it in conclusion. " REALIZATION LEADS TO REVALUATION AND REVELATION LEADS TO REVOLUTION " SOMETIMES IT LEADS TO A VERY DIFFERENT R AND THAT'S RADICALIZATION AND THAT HAPPENS WITHOUT BACKBONE. that's why people go far left or far right. because they are weak in character and btw left wing right wing is a toy for the system no matter who wins the system decides everything not the people nor the government.
We muslims are in phase one ,but obviously Turkish people has finished phase three. and we look forward to unite with our Muslim brothers and sisters and no islam is not an Arab please don't let me write about it and Arab is not an ethnicity it's a language.
the world is Suffering from western imperialism ( not the people unlike you we understand) most people walk with where the wind pushes them am not like that i hope you understand now.

From a historical standpoint, British Colonization is one reason why 2 of the Big 3, Pres Roosevelt and Winston Churchill, had a difference of opinion relative to post WW2. Roosevelt got Stalin’s support for British colonization and influence to come to an end. Churchill, who engineered Britain’s hugely successful role as one of the Allies to defeat the Nazi’s and Hitler, was subsequently voted out of office almost immediately at the end of WW2 in favor of Britain’s Labour Party. Roosevelt believed that ending colonization and giving independence to those colonies would likely end any chance of another world war. Skirmishes would essentially be internal, and not external involving multiple countries.

What utter nonsense. Roosevelt wanted to end the British Empire for one reason. Money. So that the US could be the dominant power and force their trade onto the rest of the world. He didn't need to get Stalin's support. Stalin would want anything that diminished western powers and provided opportunities for communism.
