You said they was the same hight basically not when you take the flush fit and put it in the XDS the XDS is way shorter and you didn't even put the 8 or 9 round magazine that comes with the XDS in the gun and then compare the height with the Hellcat I bet they're about the same so you're really only losing two rounds and I like a trigger that goes off no matter how I push it sideways whatever it goes off at don't have trigger problem I've been cleaning like you said also like the safety on the palm

The grip safety on the XDs is a huge advantage when carrying in an appendix holster. All that is required is to place the shooting hand thumb on the back plate of the slide when reholstering. Doing so releases the grip safety and makes the pistol much less likely to have a negligent discharge when placing it back in the holster.

This is absolutely True, I carry an XD-S and this is exactly the reason I got it, specifically to appendix carry and I feel better pointing a grip safety pistol at my junk.
THAT BEING SAID THO! The hellcat Does come in a thumb safety version. So while I would still prefer no thumb safety striker pistols. Just cuz the draw is faster.
If we were to just argue the safety of appendix carry, plenty of people who appendix carry a smith just get the thumb safe version.

My XDS9 has nearly 9K trouble free rounds thru it. Absolutely reliable...not a single failure. Earlier this year, I sent it off to Powder River Precision for some tinkering. They installed a set of their stainless steel pins, extended grip safety, crowned barrel 11*, and installed their 5lb carry trigger. Crowning made an already very accurate pistol even more so. Trigger greatly improved...oh. They also installed a provided set of XS Big Dot sights for me. If I want capacity, I carry my P10C; If I need a bit more discretion, I carry the XDS. It is a fantastic little piece.

I have the Powder River Precision internals on mine as well, and it was such a fantastic upgrade. Awesome gun. The only reason I would consider something smaller is the weight of the XDS. It's dimensions are great.

I love both and carried the XDs for years. I recently sold it though and went to the Hellcat. The Hellcat will be my summer carry and winter BUG. When the world was a bit more calm I was mainly concerned with the possibility of facing 1 or 2 adversaries. Now the possibility of encountering groups of outraged people is all too real. I decided the extra round count was worth it to me. We also replaced my wife's Kahr CW-9 with a Hellcat. I enjoyed your video.

Great video!! Love the XDS9 for so many reasons for CCW. 7, 8, and 9 capacity mags (esp for those of us living in CA where 10 is the limit) and the slim width. It disappears in any carry position. Grip safety is a plus. It's an A+ solid shooter. Good round placement helps with fewer rounds. So yes, the XDS is still a contender for many.

Just came across this awesome video. I have the xd-s osp mod 2 and love it. As a NRA Pistol instructor I push more for practice and training than ammo capacity. I have trained many many local police to requalify and most with 15-17 rds of 9mm can not put a whole mag dump on a target. I teach that every bullet that leaves the muzzel has a DA and Judge attached to it. I only need 8 rounds. I only will engage if I have No Means of Escape. The xd-s is my main gun to carry. Just my humble thoughts.

Well reasoned comparison. I carry a 9mm XDE. I'm older and racking the slide is much easier. I think the 8+1 or 9+1 capacity quite adequate. It's a little larger and heavier than the XDS-9 but that makes it easier to shoot. The double action/single action manual of arms give me multiple carry options. But the main reason I carry it is its single action trigger. Like my 1911's, it's a trigger that lets me hit what I'm aiming at.

I have to agree on the merits of the XDs for the Bears with larger paws out there. I practice routinely with a shirt lift and grab in a panic situation. I carry and XDs in 45, ext mag. I practice this drill with all of the guns that I carry. I always find myself adjusting my initial grip on the ruger LC9s, my Glock 33, my ( antique) Gen 3 S&W 3913, but I always have a positive grip on my Springfield EMP and my XDs gen1 .45. Practice , practice, practice. Ive tried the hellcat. My fingers get pinched at the magwell, and my trigger finger gets pinched at the trigger safety. Thanks for the video. I bought a Hellcat, and while it shoots well, I guess the last 30 years with my 1911 Officers has me shooting that better, and have been considering a XD-S in either 9 or 45. Besides, with the current primer shortage, it won't be long until I won't have 11-13 rounds to load into the Hellcat.

I can always carry an extra mag or two and ofc I always carry my S&W 638 as a back up should there ever be a catastrophic failure with my semi. Usually 3 shots is what a defensive situation ends up being. With my 124 grain +p golden sabers I'm confident I'll get the job done. I do love those sights on the hellcat though. The grip is nicer too on the xds due to the contour and the overall look of the gun I think is better. If you cant get the job done with 8-10 rounds then you shouldn’t have a gun in the first place 🤷🏻‍♂️

Considering the possibility of a safety not smoothly being switched to safe isn’t one of the things you should be considering when deciding to draw or not….. the XD-S looks safer to me, and if I’m fine with thick I have a .45XD mod2…..

In these times, capacity is king. People with bigger hands will have no issue with the hellcat. I feel like the thicker grip of the hellcat offsets the hand size argument. Also, the viridian c5l looks so good on the hellcat. Its truly the one I prefer. Just my couple cents.

  • @ericandi
    @ericandi 3 роки тому

The Hellcat is only 1” wide at its widest point, which is plenty narrow for concealed carry in any position and you can’t beat having the option of 11, 13, and 15 round magazines. The 13 round mag is only 0.28” taller than the 11 round mag and the 15 round mag is only 0.28” longer than the 13 round mag.
If you want maximum conceal-ability, you can load the 11 round mag in your Hellcat and carry the 15 round mag in your back-up mag pouch.
Or you want more rounds, but still very good conceal-ability, you can load the 13 round mag in your Hellcat and carry the 15 round mag in your back-up mag pouch.
Or you want the maximum number of rounds, still with good conceal-ability, put the 15 round mag in your Hellcat and put another 15 round mag in your back-up mag pouch.
For me, depending on what I’m wearing and planning to be doing, I switch between option 2 with a total of 28 rounds and option 3 with a total of 30 rounds.
Occasionally if I am wearing clothes that really don’t cover my concealed firearm well, like workout clothes, or if I just want maximum concealed comfort, I’ll go with an 11-round mag loaded in my Hellcat, and a 15-round mag in my back-up mag pouch, for a total of 26 rounds.
All 3 set-ups give you an incredible amount of 9mm ammo in such a small & easily concealable handgun and one back up mag.
Honestly, I don’t see any reason why anyone would choose the XDS 9mm over the Hellcat, especially given that the Hellcat is only 1” wide at its widest point (the grip) and the huge advantage you get in ammo capacity, with an 11, 13, or 15 round mag in the gun and a 15 round mag in your back-up mag pouch.

Valid points with respect to capacity but… these are personal defense weapons, for that “Oh Shit” moment. Does anyone really need 16 rounds in that moment? I don’t plan on getting into a gun fight with anyone while I’m out and about. Honestly, my plan is to extricate myself from the situation and be a good witness. I think I can do that with eight rounds. Maybe I’m prejudiced by the fact that I once carried a five shot revolver as a backup/off duty gun. I’ve also carried a little .380 pocket pistol for deal concealment. Anyway, to each their own. It’s best to have a plan and it looks like you have thought through yours. Stay safe.
