    DeDe’s Homemade Carpet Fresh
    1 cup baking soda

Mix and store in an airtight container
DeDe’s Homemade Room & Linen Spray
1 cup distilled or purified water

I loved this video. Lots of good tips. My only comment is to do your research on using fabric softener sheets. They are pretty toxic. I switched to wool balls because of that. I'm sure if they are toxic for your dryer and clothes, they are not great tucked into places. Some people may not be concerned, but if you want more safe options, I like your homemade ideas.

    • @MyBigTidyUp
      @MyBigTidyUp  Рік тому +3

Hello Deb!👋🏼 Thank you so very much! I have not tried the wool dryer balls, but I do have a couple of friends who have, and they have mixed reviews. I heard that they soften and reduce your drying time because the wool balls get in between the clothing items and separate them as the dryer spins. I did hear from someone that they had trouble with the wool balls when they used them with light delicate fabrics. Have you experienced that? I am interested in them. I must admit I just have never given them a try yet. 😊

Hi Darlene! I have had a couple of folks concerned about using baking soda and how it would affect their vacuum. I was told that as long as you used it sparingly and cleaned your filter on a regular basis that it was no different than vacuuming up dirt and dust. I myself have never had a problem with it, but I just do a light dusting when I use baking soda because it doesn’t take very much. It might also depend on what kind of vacuum you have. I’m not sure.🤷🏻‍♀️

That’s OUR-problem. Get over it. I’ve had it 54 years. Daily I might add, and I’m still working 15:56 with it. If something makes it worse, remove yourself. Don’t blame another. Soooo, keep your misery to yourself and figure out what you need to do POLITELY, I might add. Cheez. It’s your world and we’re just in it. Right?Ugh ! let’s make everyone miserable like us instead of self improvement. Even if it takes forever. Try every treatment, every modality and keep moving forward. I thoroughly enjoyed listening and watching this pleasant and informative video.
As much as I enjoy them-- I have terrible aversions to chemical fresheners-- so even walking down their aisle in the grocery store is an allergy minefield!

Hi Teresa!! Thank you so very much! I am excited that you’re going to give some of the ideas a try! Please let me know how it works out for you! One thing you can do is to add a few laundry scent booster beads in a spray bottle, fill it with warm water and dilute the beads and spray it on your furniture, especially where your husband sits frequently and you will be surprised it will get rid of the odors! Thank you so very much for watching letting me know you are here!!

Some ideas great, and seems like a really lovely lady. Unfortunately the lack of understanding of VOCS, the toxicity, is just such a shame. People wonder where all these diseases with no known causes come from, but they are constantly breathing in, lathering on, soaking in, washing in so many chemicals, their bodies over the years just don’t stand a chance, and hence metabolic cellular issues begin, for, unexplained weight gain, hormonal disruptions, autoimmune issues, to cancers.
When we know better we can do better.
But I hope this lady does well, she seems really genuine.

I have a sensitivity to fabric sheets and some air fresheners. I have to have my windows closed when neighbors are using the fabric softener sheets in their dryer. For some reason they really bother me. I buy those little air freshener packets that smell good but not too strong and put them around the house. I also open the cologne ads from the Ulta magazine and put them in closets or my car under the seats. I have also opened the freshener packets and sprinkled around on the carpets before I vacuum. The crock pot simmer pot is a great idea. Thank you for all the tips.

Hi Pamela! I know someone who is extremely sensitive to fabric softener sheets as well. Are you able to tolerate the scent booster beads or any liquid fabric softeners? I did not know if you were sensitive to those as well, but if not, there are a lot of things that you can do with the scent booster beads or liquid softeners to make your home smell amazing. I really love making simmer pots. They are so easy and I just grab something from around the house or refrigerator that I have already. Thank you so much for sharing and I hope to hear from you again!

Hi DeDe, thanks so much for your video. I loved it. My name is Pam and I’m from Australia. I’ve only just found your videos and I’ve now subscribed. You have some awesome ideas. I live with my grandson and he has an indoor cat, some days the smell is atrocious so I’ll definitely be using a lot of your ideas. I’ve heard of a simmer pot before but honestly had no idea how to make one. It looks so easy and I thought it would be difficult. I love the carpet refresher too. I loved all of them. TFS your video. Please enjoy the rest of your week and have a fantastic weekend. I’m looking forward to lots more of your videos.

Hi Pam! Welcome to My Big Tidy Up!! I am so happy you found me and are here! I’m glad you enjoyed the ideas! I love making a simmer pot! They really do make the whole home smell, good, and I truly believe you can’t mess it up! Sometimes I will just look around the house to see what I’ve got, and create a new combination! I do a lot of decluttering, Organizing, tips and tricks, cleaning, and sometimes I do tidy ups in other peoples homes! Honestly, I like to switch it up! I don’t know if you have Facebook or Instagram Pam, but if you do, I am over there too! On Facebook, it is a “community”page and I share humor, inspiration, and folks share a lot of their decorating ideas or organization projects! It’s really a fun page if that something you like! anyway, I sure do appreciate you being here and I look forward to hearing from you again!!
Ps- I post a video every Friday 5 PM central standard time and I also post a short on Wednesday mornings. Sometimes, I’ll throw in something extra, but Friday at five and Wednesday mornings are always a for sure thing!

Dollar tree has a damp rid thing that only costs 1.25$.
Try it , it works so very good
You can tell it's working bc it collects all the dampness into the container when the container is full it's time to get another one.
I have a long walk in closet with no ventilation, and before I used this, mold actually grew in there and ruined 3 pairs of shoes. Now keep at least 3 in there at all times 4-5 during the summer.

Years ago we had our carpets removed and had hardwood installed. The workman told me to never use carpet powder products as the vacuum could not pull it all out and it would wear out carpet earlier. Haven’t used it since.

Hi Ann! I have heard different things from different professionals and the height of your pile can play a factor, so I am not sure 🤷🏻‍♀️ I try to limit how much I use it and try to thoroughly vacuum it immediately to make sure that I get it while it’s on the surface, but I am sure you are correct that a vacuum can’t get it all just like you can get all of the dirt. 🥴 thank you so much for watching and the reminder! 😊
