after all the time ive loved the killers and all the time ive spent listening to their songs ive always avoided this one for some reason. but now with just one listen, i LOVE it! *downloads immediately*
dam ur lucky I live in colombia and not many people know the killers but i made my friends listen to there songs and my friends love it. iam tringto get sawdust over here ihave all there albums hot fuss and sams towns i nee sawdust lol
@TheTheloraxster its kinda a mix to me, about love and a car crash, because he does say "heaven sends and heaven takes, crashing cars in his brain" and it also says "stupid on the streets of london, james dean in the rain",and if you know who james dean was, he had a premature death in a car accident :]
@VanGTO49 of course music is relative. I used the word "obvious" because I find it to be rather an easy one to put together. See, I listen a lot to lyrics by people like steven wilson or tom yorke, and I pretty much think the killers are way simpler to understand from a lyrical point of view.
"those days" aren't over, you can listen to Hot Fuss whenever you want - that's the fantastic thing about music. Brandon's changed a lot since then; if you listen to Hot Fuss then listen to Battle Born, he's a different person. People change, music changes with them, but complaining about it won't change a thing.
@SirXander I´d say its about a relationship... the guy is in love with a mean woman and he is suffering because of that. Or maybe it has double meaning, artists do that a lot.
@SirXander its a good theory but my only question would be..just cause it says "crashing cars in his brain" doesnt make it obvious that he was in a car accident. Besides music is relative. Alot of people can take alot of things from the words. But I see what you mean.
no worries, you don't need to thank me. I just posted my opinion about a song I really like. I'm actually pretty glad that it was useful for someone. I should be thanking you instead for appreciating my point of view. xD see ya.
@gabriellebjork3 I prefer to see it in some kind of a come-back perspective. to me "she just can't stop telling lies" is about her memory in the guy's mind. her memory haunts him, and keeps telling him things he knows not to be true. when a friend of mine died, I kept thinking about her, and remembering her I just kept thinking "she's still here, she's not gone" but in the end I knew they were just lies I was telling to myself to preserve her memory.
hey guys I'm like soooo surprised no one has actually got what the song is about, because to me it's kinda obvious. it's about a guy who is involved in a car crash with his girlfriend : she dies, he survives. but he's desperate about having her back and her memory haunts him, he wants to die to see her once again. if you see all the lyrics under this light, they all make perfect sense. definitely a good song by the killers.
@SirXander Umm... no. It is about a guy who is in love with a girl who doesn't love him back. She lies to him and cheats on him(she's an angel for sure, she just can't stop telling lies), but he still loves her. The "crashing cars in his brain" is just the push and pull he feels toward her, because he knows she isn't a good person/girlfriend whatever, but still loves her (it isn't an actual car crash). He's tied up to a dream and only she can set him free (by actually loving him or just leav
@SirXander I don't think so, when he says "crashing cars in his brains" he's referrin to his confussion, not an actual car crash,. Otherwise it would't be followed by "she just can't stop telling lies". It is really about a guy who loved a girl, and they hook up, but for her it`s just a meaningles one night stand
i swear the "kill me now" tune is exactly like another song? what is that song? but this song is so freakin awesome. and yes, the killers have never made a bad song. even dont shoot me santa was great :)
yeah they are all connected to a story about a murder that happened in real life.they were supposed to finish a short film around october the year Hot Fuss came out in time for halloween. But I guess that never happened? ah well.
hopelessly in love a girl he believes to be an "angel". Basically telling you love is blind "Hidden under his eyes" And that even though people seem to have a "halo and wings" they are not always who you think they are "But she's an angel for sure She just can't stop telling lies". "But it's too late for his love Already caught in a trap His angel's kiss was a joke And she is not coming back" He caught her doing something wrong and found out she was not an "angel" so he is very disappo
I always thought it was like chapters of a relationship. (How he thought of her at first) Under the gun (shitty times) Leave the bourbon on the shelf (seeing her w/ someone else) Mr Brightside (what he wanted to do...murder her) Midnight Show - Jenny was a friend of mine and of course the "look at me now bitch!" track of "On top"
Every song that has a metophorical meaning behind it is interperated by everyone else differently.Personally I think this song is about a man deeply in love with a women and she has hurt him and he just wants to die because she is the only girl in life he wants.
THANK YOU! This is the original "Hot Fuss" version of the song, rather than the Sawdust version, and I haven't heard this version in a while.
I wish this song was longer. Great song!
siempre me gusto esta cancion gracias por poner la letra
after all the time ive loved the killers and all the time ive spent listening to their songs ive always avoided this one for some reason. but now with just one listen, i LOVE it! *downloads immediately*

@VanGTO49 of course music is relative. I used the word "obvious" because I find it to be rather an easy one to put together. See, I listen a lot to lyrics by people like steven wilson or tom yorke, and I pretty much think the killers are way simpler to understand from a lyrical point of view.
this song is fantastic and is so catchy

OK.i love it!:)
This is a really fantastic Killers song. Unfortunately, it hasn't gained the popularity it so rightly deserves. It's tragic. )- :
this song is the best song the killers by far!!!!!!
@SirXander the song makes perfect sense anyway, but the way i see it, he is (also) dreaming about the crash, reliving it over and over...
by the way this song is simply perfect!!!!!!!!
My favorite song:)
Very good! congrats
lol luv dis song!
yeah this song was on sawdust but i think it was also like a bonus track or something on sams town.
I think you hit the nail on the head SirXander.
"those days" aren't over, you can listen to Hot Fuss whenever you want - that's the fantastic thing about music. i like it!!!!!!!!!
I like both versions alot actually. The Sawdust one is fast and frenetic, but this one feels like their older ones, seeing as it is one.
love it
Story of my life. Love this song though
this is great long live all
good song!!!
awesome song
Guys, art can be interpreted multiple ways. That's why it's art.
I got the guitar part down, but it's so hard to sing so high like Brandon Flowers, he's so good!
this song makes me wanna cry!*~
i feel soo bad 4 him..
@SirXander its a good theory but my only question would be..just cause it says "crashing cars in his brain" doesnt make it obvious that he was in a car accident. Besides music is relative. Alot of people can take alot of things from the words. But I see what you mean.
god this song is amazing....
i just wish i couldnt relate to it....
no worries, you don't need to thank me. I just posted my opinion about a song I really like. I'm actually pretty glad that it was useful for someone. I should be thanking you instead for appreciating my point of view. xD see ya.
Swop the girl to be the guy and the guy to girl...And you have a perfect description of my life
i luv the killer

@TheTheloraxster yepp i agree with this version of the meaning of the song.
from a songwriter p.o.v., these are sweet lyrics!
@DangerousBeans01 Omg love that book
this is like the 30th time ive listened to this song TODAY...yea...im cool 0:)
i love the bridge
@Artamentous thanks a lot, man. 'cause there is people who still totally fail in getting it -.- . I mean, it's not that complex xD

He definitely says sure. You can tell if you listen to the new version that they plan on Sawdust.
There should be a music video for this song!!
lol ive heard of him hes some really famous old singer. :)
@SirXander Umm... no. It is about a guy who is in love with a girl who doesn't love him back. She lies to him and cheats on him(she's an angel for sure, she just can't stop telling lies), but he still loves her. my best guy friend told me bout this song its great
I LOVE THIS SONG!!!the sad ting is that its only 2:30 minutes wish it was longer.
This reminds me of Kate and Adam's relationship in East of Eden :3
i swear the "kill me now" tune is exactly like another song? what is that song? but this song is so freakin awesome. and yes, the killers have never made a bad song. even dont shoot me santa was great :)
goood sonnggg
yes yes
@SirXander no. actually criminal mind? what does that have to do? its about shes tourturing him. like a bad girlfriend but she has in under her thumb
@SirXander it would be too easy, specially when it says "crashing cars"
Cause it sounds good! haha
Thanks to all the people who commented :-)
@SirXander Aw man, you made me sad. The James Dean part makes sense now.
@itzjames hey heey i didn't get it! is it because James Dean died in a car accident?or something else...
@AussieDingo17 yeah, might be possible indeed.
This is different to the sawdust version. Is this from a live performance? Or From Hot Fuss?
I found the lyrics of this song written in the cover of my used Biology book. :P
Lol, that song is awesome! I love the Killers. Too bad Brandon shaved, I thought he looked hotter with the stubble. Damn, their music is great though!
sounds different from the one on sawdust. he sounds more like he did in the first album. i like both though :]
yeah they are all connected to a story about a murder that happened in real life.they were supposed to finish a short film around october the year Hot Fuss came out in time for halloween. But I guess that never happened? ah well.
@SirXander that makes sence
FUCKING AMAZING SONG.
@IceFangz17
Totally feel you on that one haha
Way way better than the Sawdust rerecord.
hopelessly in love a girl he believes to be an "angel".
Basically telling you love is blind "Hidden under his eyes"
And that even though people seem to have a "halo and wings" they are not always who you think they are
"But she's an angel for sure

"But it's too late for his love
Already caught in a trap
His angel's kiss was a joke
And she is not coming back"
He caught her doing something wrong and found out she was not an "angel" so he is very disappo
this song is on sawdust??? dam i love this song the killers the best
its not a bad song. to artifical for my taste but its got a really good melody, and a good beat.
I always thought it was like chapters of a relationship.
(How he thought of her at first) Under the gun
(shitty times) Leave the bourbon on the shelf
(seeing her w/ someone else) Mr Brightside
