On the first album, they used autotune cause it was their first studio album and the label had a lot more control. Starting with Sam's Town, he stopped using it. And while I like his voice and typically despise auto-tune, it was perfect for Brandon Flowers on the Hot Fuss album. Wish he had kept using it.
Holy shit I remember finding this version of this song on limewire when I was a teen. Before sawdust came out. Totally forgot about it. This is bringing back some amazing memories for sure!
This song should have been on the main album! I really hate when excellent songs are on B-sides, but I'm glad they released this on their Limited Edition and Sawdust albums. I saw them perform this on Austin City Limits back in 2005 and I was surprised when I couldn't find it on the original Hot Fuss album, but I did get the limited release awhile later.
I bought the “black album” when it came out. I lived in California at the time, in a busy tourist town. Long story short, I used to listen to this on my MP3 player, google it kids, on my way back and forth to Safeway.
i grew up ONLY hearing and knowing of this version. I was making my Spotify playlist and added the Sawdust one on there. Never heard the Sawdust version til tonight and I was like wtf?!! I thought I was losing my mind! Such a shame spotify wont put this on there
I remember being excited for Stardust, that I could finally own this song after hearing it on a friend's rare imported edition of Hot Fuss, and being so disappointed when I heard the completely neutered Sawdust version. The drums and guitars are so much better here, more punchy and not watered down like that version. Wish this was also on Spotify so I could listen at work.
Best band ever... like EVER. Favorite song by them is "Everything Will Be Alright" this one is my second favorite song :) Their music hits my soul... GG
Always thought the refrain said "coming out, coming out", it was just now that I looked for the lyrics. Makes so much more sense. This one feels like a rockier cousin to Mr Brightside, considering the angelic riff tho it takes a darker twist in the rest of the song.
That’s how I feel about the Sawdust one lol. Sawdust feels so lacking in energy or sharpness to me. Makes me feel congested. I’ve never met someone who likes both versions haha
No. The last time he says it he emphasizes ‘me’. The idea from the album was, the main character murdered Jenny, his ex-girlfriend. This song expresses his guilt over it, his wanting to die now.
this version is so much better than the Sawdust version. The vocals are so much better here.

Vocals and instruments.

Definitely agree. Just flows much better.
Yesssss!!!
Most underrated song by The Killers, plus this version is better than the one featured in Sawdust.

lol same. also did the youtube to mp3 and have had it on my old ipod ever since. this version is the best
Totally happened to me too! Freshman year of college.

They should’ve never taken this off of their Hot Fuss album. This is my favorite version !!
Here in 2022 because this song is a fucking heater

That just happened to me right now. I’ve been noticing the Spotify versions of many songs are the pallid versions. Ugh.
This song makes me cry
Same
Love this version
The definitive version of Under the Gun

Thank you for your comment I found a great song in everything will be alright here's one for you Human sadness by the voids
I had to do a sanity check after listening to the version on Sawdust. This version is as awesome as I remembered.
Está versión es la mejor
Because of the other version I'm now very conscious
Of the *breathes*
Lmaooo I hate the breaths on the Sawdust version.
Brilliant lyrics.
Dammit they took this version off spotify
Listening to this version for the first time now. I have previously just listened to the SawDust version.
One of the first songs they wrote!
Melhor versão que tem disparada

so good an underrated
Love the killers, I’m glad I heard this version before the sawdust one this one is better to me.
sad this version isn't available on Google Music

Better version
I remember buy the cd again because extra songs lol
AMAZING
We have Mr. Brightside at home.
Mr. Brightside at home:
This is way better than mr.brightside imo.
I wonder if we also have Miss Atomic Bomb at home as well.
2:02
Definitely more power than original tune...
Francisco Javier Hernández Martinez this is the original...
Wrong video lol
love it
Because heaven sends and heaven takes crashing cars in his brain. Keep him tied up to a dream and only she can set him free... 💔
more character in this version.
So good 🙂
I don't understand why Spotify took away this album
Juan Acosta Maybe 'cause it's a limited edition
Apple music has finally taken this version off of my Hot Fuss album, have to listen to it here now
Aca brandon no canta con hipo, y tiene la voz cruda que tanto caracteriza a Hot Fuss
Definitely love this version over the Sawdust one
I dont hear a difference
the vocals are stronger on this version.
oh ok
I like more that version, i search that album with the limited edition on spotify but the album its not uploaded:(
Alex Delgado to find this version of the song just go to the 'Somebody Told Me' single(it says intl maxi or something), this version is in there
SO much better than the Sawdust version. This and Ballad Of Michael Valentine should have been on Hot Fuss
Thats more like it
Recuerdo que la descargué por Ares hahaha
Aww this the live version ❤
냅다 시작하는 노래
Better than sawdust version. 🖤
Why Brandon sound awful on this and glamorous indie rock and roll from Sawdust?
Wow, I didn't know that this version even existed.... I think I prefer this one over the Sawdust version
This makes me so uncomfortable and I hate it, I’ll take sawdust any day
That’s how I feel about the Sawdust one lol. Sawdust feels so lacking in energy or sharpness to me. Makes me feel congested. I’ve never met someone who likes both versions haha
Honestly, I prefer Sawdust's version.
i kind of like the killers, but they seem a little hipster for some
Jared Wright who cares what they think, it's what you like man
Best band on earth
Hipster music is great.
0:40 I felt like if he said "kill me now, why not now, kill me now, why not now" instead of just repeating "kill me now" it would be better
