(Spoiler alert) He later freaks the lady out with apocalyptic talks. Robs some toy stores for street kids. Realizes he’s been pranked after visiting a newsstand. Goes and gets a gun and kills the prankster.

I love Alfred Hitchcock and these shows from the 1950’s but I must ask, where ppl really this stupid back then? I know this is a telly program but really, would anyone really have believed that the end of the world would not only be conveyed via newspaper but that the planet could be headed on a collision course with Mars without there being any signs??

The writers must have been having writer's cramp with this turkey plot. Not even Harold J. Stone (the outlaw Matt Dillon later killed on Gunsmoke) could save it.
