Summoning Igon should be mandatory for this fight. He has way more of a reason to fight Bayle than you do.
Not to mention he makes it fair.
He was the only summon ive done on this character- I couldnt rob him of his glory. It truly was his fight
I never use summons for fights but for this one I had to summon Igon, the dude really deserves to kill Bayle. In my playthrough he was also the one who put the final blow in. It was so satisfying

FUCK THEY MADE US FIGHT AGAINST BALERION THE BLACK DREAD
The whole build-up to this fight was a masterclass in game-design. The ominous mountain in the distance, world building with little bits of additional information about what is up there from npc's, the thunderous clouds getting more and more intense the higher we climb, vast amounts of dead dragons along the way, an ancient dragon as an appetizer, and then finally at the peak of the mountain a climaric final battle with a demon of a dragon, spurred on by the epic battle cries of Igor who found his courage. Just perfect!
Not to mention finding Igon on the floor, weeping and crying out revenge. I knew nothing about Bayle except his name and that internet meme about watching people's ghosts get pulverised the second they walk into the arena, and I swear I was a thousand times more scared of this boss on rep alone.

when I climbed this mountain, I thought “wow, there was a fight for the title of the king of dragons” I was looking forward to the boss at the top and it turned out to be the best dragon boss of all time.

It's just an opinion guys chill. To be more specific with what I think, I believe bayle is cooler, more complex, and has a sick build up and everything,but at the same time I really like the classic dragon design and I prefer the simpler moveset. Call it a skill issue, call it nostalgia, but don't call it incorrect. It is an opinion.
@the_scringus it could be just because he's new or because I'm comparing him to placidusax who's a joke of a dragon boss. But I like him a bit more than midir because his moveset feels cooler and harder. Midir becomes kinda easy when you start dodging backwards and hitting the head

THANK YOU for pointing this out! I didnt see it on my first watch and that makes the fight soooo MUCH cooler! Love the show-don't-tell of Placidusax still latched on Bayle's neck even though his heads torn off; how vicious their fight was!

It almost looks like they bit down on him only to get severed off, yet they still remain

Bayle is what happens when you take Placidusax’s cinematic animation and Midir’s difficulty and fuse it together, then magnified by 10.

@@kaso236 But gameplay wise Midir is not that hard to learn and defeat. Bayle gave me much harder time but it may have been due to low blessing level - either way, damage felt rather similar vs Bayle and Midir in my case.

@@hiwander yes I tried to summon bro and got hit with spam msgs ! I was “well F me” and got steem rolled had to play offline for that fight. And when you’re so high lvl you don’t get manny cooperaters anyways. My lvl 150 character I just summoned friends and we stomped him first phase, by second phase it was just me and my sword 😂😂😂

Players who don't think they need to summon Igon for this fight miss out on the most hype VA. It makes the fight so much better (and honestly really fun)
I was on a dedicated no summons kick for most of Elden Ring but ended up summoning this guy for the first time just because of how down bad he was in the leadup to this fight, then after hearing his utterly psychotic rant against Bayle I couldn't ever do the fight without his hype lol
@@ZHL242no summon is stupid bro, unless it’s a rule you’re playing with for fun, just summon. I use the NPC ones for sure because they’re part of quest lines. Other than that I usually don’t use my bell at all unless as a last resort when something is downright unbeatable in which i’ll use mimic. Haven’t even leveled any of the spirits aside from mimic lol

@@_N4VE_ 99% of the boss fights are not designed with summons in mind. It's just a way to trivialize the combat system and make it a spam fest. If you want to summon that is fine, but lets not pretend the developers were developing the boss fights with summons in mind.

So, this is the thing that took placis heads. Always thought i was godfrey but this is much scarier.
Godfrey is good with an axe, but Placidusaxx can fly. And given that the ancient dragons are intelligent, their presence being tied to the intelligence of the beastmen, I don't think he'd just sit there and let Godfrey wail on him.

Bayle not being a Remembrance boss is the biggest crime against humanity i've ever seen
I love how this dude gives 0 shits bout Miquella or Mohg, doesn’t bother with messmer. He just has a side plot about killing dragon satan.
You know the boss is designed well, when you are playing it alongside a friend for a few hours, both talking of this “undodgeable move”. Then find out you have been talking about two different moves, and to top it off, we both think the other ones “undodgeable move” is easy.
Edit: Honestly try using the Dragon-Hunter's Great Katana. It feels like it was made for this battle.

Imagine fighting Placidusax, respecting him, wondering what happened for him to be this battered… and then seeing this MF has those two heads strapped on his back like
trophies. The desire for vengeance overcomes you, and then you realise… why Placidusax had no bloody chance.
Bayle fled from placidusax and although it was technically a draw, placid lost some heads while bayle lost a bunch of his body so I’d say he did stand a chance
Placidusax kinda won the fight tho, bayle left with no wings, arms, one leg and had to flee. He's still badass imo

One of the coolest bosses ever. Just beat it, and took me 2 hours.
Something really cool I noticed was that Bayle's arena loosely mimics Placidusax's arena. There are graves dug all around the arena that remind me of the plates we lie down on to go fight the dragonlord and the pillars in the background can be found in both.
Igon's voice actor is like that one wacky dude on tiktok who makes up weird emotional scenarios and hysterically cries about

I got stuck in this fight for the whole night, I died when Bayle needed one more hit but Igon took the final blow, I was already getting respawned so not being able to listen his whole victory scream felt awful, thanks a lot for this, now that I heard him and I can rest too

This boss fight is the proof that fromsoftware is in a completely different league when it comes to boss fights and visual effects

I just do not understand FromSoft's insistence of not having lock on points on the legs of dragons like him and Senessax💀 Would've been a great fight if I could see what he was doing half the time. The best trick is to NOT lock on unless he's flying, but even then, the breath attack when flying gets so cluttered with visual effects that it's best to not lock on then too, which makes it SUPER hard to keep track of him. Being able to lock on to the legs or just zooming the camera out when fighting him would've made him so much more fun instead of frustrating
because you're not supposed to be fighting this dragon by attacking his legs, it just makes the fight worse and more drawn out.

I feel like every boss is the malenia of this dlc with them doing two hit kills and have infinite health
Use the Dragon-Hunter Great Katana. The weapon art chunks his health and made this fight a breeze.
The final boss of the "bad" ending is much harder. Spent like 3 times on him than Bayle
I beat him after hours and it was a build on its first playthrough. Praying for everyone playing the dlc in ng+7
Use the dragon katana and all your best damage reduction talismans + flask. Even then took me 10+ tries
The OST for this fight is so peak.

Bayle is such a Gnarly fight. It didn’t take me many tries with Igor but of the half of the DLC bosses I’ve managed to beat, Bayle is easily the coolest boss design Fromsoft has made. Went into the DLC shooting to be a dragon knight, and I knew I’d have to eat his heart.

The nuke transition into phase 2 and the laser beam attacks have to be some of the coolest lookinh attacks in this franchise
Especially the nuke, where you can see bayle in his full powerz he literally channels his hatred and power to bring back his wings that he lost a long time ago as a last ditch effort against you. Coolest shit ever
Bayle really is a cool boss because he does something no other boss does. Think about what every other boss does when you kill them. Some reach out to something, others simply succumb and Mertyl tries to run away in a black hole. What does Bayle do? Tries to get one last hit in before he dies by charging his flame-lightning wing attack. He refuses to stop until either you die or he dies

You gotta craft the javelin and atack him at his lost foot you will take chunks of hp you can also get a blessing from the communion priestess for phase 2 ideally to receive less damage

Before Bayle the Dread, I used to think I was good at Elden Ring. After dying dozens of times to Bayle the Dread, I realized that any conceived notion I had of being "good" should have warranted me slitting my carotid arteries for even thinking of something so stupid and false.

It would be 10x better if the camera against big enemies worked like the camera on Monster Hunter, you don't need to keep him locked at all times, just press a button and the camera goes to the monster.

@@leonardo25gabriel I agree only time I needed to lock on was when he flies and I just run towards him which makes the projectiles miss you and dodge the divebomb. other than that's it's just like for sunflower or hippo. no lock on needed and it makes the fight 100 times enjoyable

I never summon in Souls games but this is the ONE exception. I heard Igon’s first line and I immediately went “fuck it I’m summoning this guy for Bayle”. Having Igon there in the fight made me feel like I was literally fighting Satan- shit was INTENSE. Haven’t felt like that since I played MH3U on 3DS when I was a kid. Igon has to be one of my favorite things to ever come out of Fromsoft.

That anti-dragon huge Katana you get makes quick work of this guy.
Ironically, with all the cool looking huge weapons this game offers that are canonically perfect for slaying a giant dragon like Bayle, I found it silly that the thing that worked so well for me that it took me only 2 tries to beat this boss is a small f*ing red reduvia knife. Imagine hacking a giant dragon's thick scales on the leg with a small knife and killing it in less than 2 minutes. That thing sure does melt bosses.
This is Moby Dick and Captain Achab all over.
Found best way to fight him was to just go light load… all clothes off. Those few eye frames made so much more difference… he only hit me once (ground fire) in my kill
Is everyone not going to bring up the fact that this beast looks like a bloody Balrog from LOTR? Because I sure as shit will, I died a lot with Igon just screaming in the background but this was the most unique dragon I’ve ever fought.

He is not immortal, if you let him solo the boss, he'll eventually died.

I'm pretty sure in the game and service clause of elden ring they added that you are legally obligated to summon Igon against Bayle otherwise Miazaky himself come to your house and beat you to death
