The fact that all it takes is the incredible suffering of just one being to manifest the Lord of Frenzied Flame itself creates scary implications lorewise, weak vessel or not. Shabriri's seduction of the tarnished is merely the shortcut towards the end goal, and as long as there are people who renounce life, the frenzied flame will always be a threat to The Lands Between.
this is a weakened lord of the frenzy flame, the tarnished should he choose to embrace the three fingers also absorbs the elden ring, so his power is godly compared to this one

One of the best bosses FS has ever designed. The build up is absolutely insane. The use of the merchant's violin music is top shelf. The aesthetics. The pure eldritch horror of the frenzied flame and its consequences on display. Makes me wish they hadn't cut the Kale content from the base game; the frenzied flame is a horrifying and enigmatic force, and giving us a bit more time to really perceive the madness and fury of its persecuted acolytes would have been a treat.
This fight was so bad ass, took around 5 tries about the same as Rellana for me but he definitely left a much larger impression on me, maybe it was the survival horror game they make you play in the woods leading to him, or his voice echoing in the halls as you approach, the build up and most off all watching that cutscene, in the dark, at 2 am with very nice headphones on, but this dude is now in my top 3 most memorable bosses in the Fromsoft catalog.
Sounds really badass but I don’t think it would be as badass when you’re in it. I want to see the boss and how menacing he is. Maybe if there was like a head piece armor you found that would deflect the madness where you still take damage but it’s reduced?
This was definitely one of my favorite bosses in the DLC so far, and I havnt even progressed through the main story of the dlc (I havnt defeated Messmer)!
The Greatsword of Damnation as it pierces Midra looks strangely like the Elden Ring residing inside the crumbling body of Radagon. Like it's a facsimile of the Great Runes. Interesting detail.
This is obviusly what tarnished can do in the frenzied flame ending and i really think this makes the tarnished frenzied flame ending to be non canon or not the main ending since the original lord of frenzied flame is this guy
Frenzied Flame is canon by all means and theory speculation out there. There's no other way because it was part of embodiment One Great as a whole with other Outer Gods that prophesize Land Between would be cleanse, melt and then reshaping it back in cycle.
The DLC is implied to take place before the ending of the main game since some NPCs call the protagonist “Tarnished” and “aspiring lord” meaning that we haven’t fought the Elden beast yet. Obviously the game just came out and we haven’t discovered every piece of lore to place the dlc on the timeline but so far we have an idea.
This guy was close to completing the path of the Lord of Frenzied Flame. He failed and was more than punished for doing so. Impaled through every part of his body and cast into the same abyss that all madness goes. He retained his abilities, but Nanaya tells him to endure where he lays.
It’s a shame this breathtaking boss didn’t get a third phase. At least something even more cinematic would’ve been fire. Either way this is easily peak soulsborne.

The thing I find so disturbing about the Frenzied Flame is that it is appealing. Like Midra is straight up elegant and almost angelic, Shabiri is one of the most honest and forthright characters in the whole game, Hyetta seems completely genuine about agreeing the philosophical side of the FF. Like it wouldn't be that hard to get sold on the FF especially when you realize it doesnt want power for powers sake, it legit just thinks its goal is correct and knows that the other outer gods will inevitably create the optimal conditions for it to do what it wants eventually.
Something people arent pointing out, you are literally seeing his face and frenzy isnt taking over you. I see some of the comments saying he isnt a compatible vessel. This small detail in the fight proves that

@@Cth-kn9 it is said he wasn't strong enough to be called a proper lord, he rejecting it while the player seeks and embracing it. Frenzied Flame wants a host that brings about its motives not denying it.
So from what I getting here is that he was about to be consumed by the frenzied flame but imbedded that MASSIVE barbed sword in himself so the sheer pain and agony stopped him from succumbing to it.
But in the cutscene he basically went “fuck it, forgive me, I can’t handle this shit anymore” and let it take over.
Damn…..Flame of frenzy be fucking everything up :/
Can you blame him? Imagine dealing with this shit for years and then some insanely strong freak comes and kicks your ass in 4 hits. You'd say "fuck this shit" too
Actually he didn't do that to himself, the hornsent around his mansion raided it, killed almost all of the people inside but couldn't kill this guy. Instead they just shoved a giant growing sword in his skull so it can be his prison
yeah, what the person above me said. the swords description goes into more detail, but it looks as though the Inquisition (led by Jori) used it as their most brutal form of execution, involving embedding a spike into someone, which would then grow and pierce the victim from the inside. You see the basic spikes embedded in the line of bodies in front of the Manse, which gives you an idea of just how much the one used on Midra has grown.
Amazing how one hit can throw you off and open you up to be off the pace for the rest of the fight.

THIS MUSIC is beautifully composed. That 2:49 switch up in the second phase makes this boss one of most memorable experiences I've ever had. It's almost a waltzing tempo... makes you feel like you're dancing with the devil... and one step out of line, you die. Incredible.

After seeing this guy I can understand why Melena is so confident on being able to defeat you in the final cutscene of the lord of frenzied flame ending. Doesn’t look like being a lord makes you become that powerful.
It is said that he wasn't strong enough to be called a proper lord. The player version is much stronger.
@@motoristacaduco not really, when you become lord of the frenzied flame you the player are no longer an individual. There is no “you” in the ending. The body of the player becomes nothing more than a shell for the flame to be held inside. Just like Shabiri and Hyetti, no sense of self remains.
But now the question of how much weaker Midra is compared to a complete lord of frenzy remains lol. Classic fromsoft will leave that ambiguous and people will talk about it in circles for years.

"That's why many speculated it is the canon ending" Ah yes, everyone knows Elden Ring has a "canon" ending, that's why there's multiple endings.
"ain't no way Avatar of Outer God could be bested" Yup, just like Malenia couldn't be bested, or the Elden Beast/Radagon couldn't be bested, or Mr. Midra here couldn't be bested. It's not like Destined Death was feared specifically because it can slay immortal beings, nah, "ain't no way Avatar of Outer God could be bested."
"It has been foretold" by those infected by the Frenzied Flame. Who aren't objective sources. Rykard had a prophetic dream about the God-Devouring Serpent eating the planet, who had already "been foretold" to eventually destroy the world and devour the gods. Just because it "has been foretold" doesn't mean it's objectively true or inevitable.

The fact that all it takes is the incredible suffering of just one being to manifest the Lord of Frenzied Flame itself creates scary implications lorewise, weak vessel or not.

The Greatsword of Damnation as it pierces Midra looks strangely like the Elden Ring residing inside the crumbling body of Radagon. Like it's a facsimile of the Great Runes. Interesting detail.
Woah I never noticed. You're right
This is obviusly what tarnished can do in the frenzied flame ending and i really think this makes the tarnished frenzied flame ending to be non canon or not the main ending since the original lord of frenzied flame is this guy
Nope, the erdtree was burnt once before, and it was by this guy. Frenzied flame ending is also canon

FS was making a statement when they had Midra impaling his own hand while withdraw8ng the sword. The pain a normal person would've felt in their hand didn't even register for Midra because of the level of torture he's endured up too that point which is evident when you see every barb of that sword mpaling every part of his torso and sticking out off his skull. Who knows how centuries or even millennia been impaled with the Sword of Damnation. It was apparently bad enough that he was to tear, not cut, his own head off just to get the sword out
